Really disappointed. I scheduled a spray tan which good thing I made an appointment because the place was so busy! Then there was only one girl working and she was really doing a good job but there were so many people in line it took forever. I was actually more upset that the owner/manager allows this. She was running around like crazy. Checking people in, running to clean tanning beds, coming back to check more people in, running to set up spray tan. It's not right and it looks bad to the customer. You really can't spend a little extra payroll to help the girl out??? Shame on them, it's a HORRIBLE way to treat your employees!!! I will never go there again. As for the actual spray tan, I knew it wasn't going to be good when the girl in front of me came back because hers didn't take. Neither did mine. Not sure I even want to bother getting a refund I'm so disgusted. Stop being selfish and treat your employees better!!! read more

I seldom use tanning salons but when I do it's usually before a vacation ( where after 2 days 'vacationing', I look ready for a body bag). This tanning place is convenient to other places I shop on a week night and the reason why I returned. While the staff from the past have expressed concern over my pallid complexion and warned me against spending more than 8 minutes in a booth, I've found -despite the futuristic, sleek design of the beds- that amount of time ridiculously ineffective. Tonight, I went for the last time. After forking over $20 for 10 minutes, twice I had to dress and step out into the public area to ask about control settings because I'd forgotten my contacts and the poor lighting made it tough to see. The worker helped me out by setting the timer and left the room. Seven minutes later, and barely time to undress again, the bed turned off! While she had offered to turn the timer back on for my lost 3 minutes I declined having to disrobe yet again and left extremely annoyed for my wasted time and money. Whatever I muttered under my breath as I exited couldn't have offended her any more than the obnoxious song playing in my room with the catchy chorus of "...motherf***er...". If these places spent a little less on trying to impress with machines that really don't do more than the tanning beds of 15 years ago, maybe they wouldn't have to charge a doctor's fee. read more

I absolutely LOVE this tanning salon. Been going since August 2012, the place looks like its straight out of Jersey Shore (in a good way). All the beds are TOP of the line going from level 1 - 5 and are very specific to how it will tan or burn you. Recently just got a spray tan in one of their smart booths, it was so easy and it didn't look orange. All new customers can try a free 30 day trial, which I did and loved! Check this place out, a free month doesn't hurt especially this point of season. read more

I really like this establishment. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The place is very clean and I like how they are creative with the small things for the clients such as providing items for the clients such as face wipes, ponytail holders, deodorant, etc. The small personal touches make it all that much better. read more

I have frequented Smart Tan on and off for quite a few years now. Most recently, I signed up for a two month membership, in preparation for my upcoming vacation. However, after utilizing the level 4 beds for the past month, I contracted a fungus on my back, from their unsanitary beds. As stated on the interior of the doors, I contacted the owner, David, to voice my concern, and request a refund, as I have yet to even use my second month, that I paid for up front, and he has not responded. I feel as though he is not invested in his customers, especially when one raises a concern with sanitary issues. Would not recommend this salon. read more

I came here for the fist time in a few years at 345pm on April. 16- 2014 I did the level 5.25 and it was the most Intense bed I have ever been in ! Definitely worth the money . Not to mention the girl at the counter was awsome she was super nice and talked me through everything even picked out a great lotion for me ! I would recremend this place to everyone ! Best tan ever! Having fair skin, I often burn first. Never here! Only a gradual bronze glow! I can easily achieve the dark tan I want without ever burning. The beds/rooms are always clean. The staff is always super friendly and polite. I read other reviews in regards to the staff and I was shocked. I have only been going for about 5 months now, but have never had a bad experience. The prices are a little expensive, so I usually do an unlimited month about every other month. But I definitely think it's worth it!! Why ruin your skin! It's worth the money! read more

Hands down the best tanning salon I've found in Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts. The only place that truly has a full body high pressure bed - bed 5 by the way. You just don't burn! I just had the worst service!!! I went in for a spray tan the girl loaded the machine wrong it didn't spray anything so I had her reset it so I could do it again after I put the cartridge in correctly and the machine wouldn't turn on again. When I cane up again she blamed me for it not working properly didn't apologize or offer to give me a new cartridge and fix it for me or refund me. So I paid to waste my time and not receive any services and be treated rudely. Avoid at all costs!! read more

Smart Tan is by far the best tanning salon I've been too! They have affordable packages and equipment that really works. The environment is awesome, I don't mind waiting if its busy, the music is up to date, and the scenery is just enjoyable. It reminds me of a tropical island. Love this place!!! One of the BEST tanning salons I have ever been too! All the beds are up-to-date along with the information provided about them. As you increase in levels, the more safe and effective the tan becomes. Not only this but the stand ups have twisted bulb technology. Prices are very reasonable and affordable. I LOVE Smart Tan. Yes it is expensive for the top level beds, but your skin never feels all dried out like it does after going to a normal tanning salon, and you get BROWN not RED. You don't need to go as often either, so if you do the math, it is going to cost the same to maintain a tan at Smart Tan as it would at your neighborhood chain salon. read more

warwick RI location. I purchased the package of unlimited tanning for $99 a yr on May 17th. I went for a week and a half before the owner put a notification on my membership. When I went in, the girl at the desk told me that the owner is no longer doing that package and that he would not honor the rest of the year and I would have to go with a package that was double the money with a $4 co-pay each time. When the girl called the owner I asked her if I could speak with him, and he refused to speak with me and told her that I could chose the new package immediately or he would refund what money I put in so far for the 2 weeks and I could take my business elsewhere..... Not honoring a package that was already purchased is BAD BUSINESS; especially refusing to talk to your customers. So I did exactly what he suggested.... I took my business elsewhere. Poor, poor business mindset. read more

I've heard good things about this tanning salon and decided to go in over break. I came in knowing the machines are luxury/high end so I knew it was going to be pricey to start. My slight issue wasn't with the prices, although I was disappointed that there's no EFT program or I would have considered signing up, it was the overall "vibe". Immediately before walking in (now I'm not sure if it was an employee's car but the next point I will make seem to connect the two) there was a car in the lot with "I park so f-ing close to the curb because....stay in your lane..." and then I get to the desk and there's a pen with a dymo label saying "MY F-ING PEN - MORGS". It comes off very negative and hostile. Now, the kicker here is I used to manage a tanning salon, so I know how it goes and what the customer service standards should be especially with a new customer in terms of client retention. She seemed overall uninterested and while she was explaining the levels to me (output of UVB vs. UVA rays per bed) I asked for a small tour to actually see the equipment - something my former salon (a competitor!) did right off the bat. I got an "Um....sure", which wasn't very engaging but thankfully Ergoline beds sell themselves. The little luxuries of hair ties and spray are nice, but if I'm here to shell out money on luxury tanning and drive out of my way I'd like to see an appreciative attitude to match the high end atmosphere you're trying to go for. I'm sure I'm not alone on that one. read more
