I went in with several pictures of what I wanted and had a chat with the hairdresser before starting. Half-way through she showed me the back and I said I would prefer it shorter. After discussing it further she said she would have to start the cut all over again as we kind of misunderstood each other. It seemed she went for the same cut I had whilst I wanted something different. She asked me to wait for about 20mn as she needed to attend another customer who was having a colour done. Which is fine. When she returned I found her very stressed and she reluctantly started to cut again but was very negative about everything, blaming my colour that would need to be done, blaming my lack of clarity in explaining what I initially wanted, etc...When she 'finished', it looked awful, unfinished and untidy. The back and the sides were all laddered and uneven. She didn't even blow dry and almost refused to cut my fringe (which she hadn't touched at all at that point). I insisted but again she made me feel like I was a difficult customer and she cut it the bare minimum. She then asked for £25, saying she spent a lot of time on me. I refused and only pay £14 which is the price they normally have. Her colleague who passed by, who didn't get involved til then, implied I wouldn't be welcomed anymore. I can't believe the way I was treated. I understand that sometimes, things go wrong, it is nobody's fault but the way it is addressed clearly lies with the staff and their ability to offer good customer services. I feel the hairdresser was overworked (she didn't even had a lunch break) and under a lot of stress to do as many customers as possible and this has led to this very regrettable situation. I was left feeling as if I had been really difficult and that they wanted to get rid of me. And with a shitty haircut which needs another hairdresser visit to correct it. This is a real shame but I will not be going back there.

Pricing wise, it's pretty much the standard UK charge, 14.5 pounds for a hairstyle. But they specialize in beard trimming and slight back type men hairstyle. I went for the undercut and fading on the side and kept the top from being too short. The barber was very attentive with me and listened to my requests. There was an extra barber chair when I walked in and they immediately sat me down with no wait time. I was surprised to feel so welcomed by them and no awkward feeling despite being a stranger. Even after giving only a vague idea of what I wanted, the barber immediately went to work. I can't remember his name because it wasn't one I had heard before but he ended up eventually settling in London after a long journey via the Netherlands as a war refugee from Iraq in the 90's. The haircut was quick and efficient, and they waxed my ears which was a strange experience, but overall I felt like I came to the right place. If I lived in the area I would definitely come again.

So now....this gents barbers is run by Gary, a nice no-nonsense kinda guy who runs a tight ship. The barbers area is in teh front and at the back they have a men's grooming area (which I confess I have never myself used...yet). This is where I have had my hair cut for the last six years and I am happy to say throughout that time the prices have been and still remain fair. If you ask them nicely they will give you a nice warm towel treatment after your cut and its a real treat. By far their best stylist is a guy called Pecs (I have probably spelt that incorrectly) but he is the one I would highly recommend. Either way, it's still run very well and everyone is very good at cutting hair. Like the previous reviewer states, Pecs is one of the better stylists, but I actually like Mo better, but like I said all the other guys are good. Also, for incredible beauty treatments and massages, make sure you go to Helen, who work in the back room. She gives masterful massages and also provides a vast array of beauty treatments (waxing, nails etc...). My wife has her nails done there and I she says she does a great job for a great price.
