The teachers here have been wonderful, but there are major issues with the director and the way…read morethis school operates. It is very much a "business over student" mentality and there is a major lack of communication. The school does not have / does not want to provide the resources to address individual children's needs. Although past reviews are positive and we were drawn to them, this is not at all the environment that currently exists. EDIT in light of the director's response: Books were not provided until AFTER I pointed out how this school was violating Oregon Administrative Rules requiring quiet activities for non-napping children during nap time. I also witnessed video footage of nap time where *multiple* children were being loud and disruptive, not solely my child. This is more evidence of how certain students have become targeted in cycles at this school.

The teachers are very detailed in how they approach each child. Furthermore, I very much enjoy how they spend time with the kids to help with homework and other daily tasks. Their security measures are seriously cutting edge; top notch. To sign in and out your child, the doors can only be opened by your fingerprint or personal backup pin. No joke. They really put parents minds at ease by focusing on the well being of our kids. Finally, I very much love how they make sure the kids know how much they mean to Jesus, as this is a faith based place. It's nice after a day at public school for my daughter to have connections to like minded children and teachers who love the Lord.

My willful child learned so much under Ms. Nott, from how to utilize her excess energy to how to deal with her classmates. I have been waiting for my youngest to be old enough to join Crystal at Little Hands. I cannot recommend this school enough. There is just not enough praise given for the accommodations and considerate teachers and the staff at Parkside Elementary. My son attended Parkside for 4th grade, his teacher was incredible and worked alongside him with his extra needs, she encouraged him to challenge the limits and expectations that came from his special needs. Mrs Holland made sure that my son did not feel out of place or like he didn't belong even while respectfully and willingly accommodating his 504. The open communication from his teacher was frequent, transparent and comforting. The process of getting my sons 504 in place was made so much easier with the teamwork of all of the staff, making sure he had everything he needed while recognizing where he should be challenged along with places he may struggle, They made sure that every teacher/staff member that worked with him knew of these accommodations, so it was never a struggle or something that I had to continually fight for. Anyways - if you don't want to read the whole review, just know - **The school is incredible. It is very clean. The staff is very accommodating with any kind of special needs. The teachers are down to earth and are there because they have a heart for it.** I absolutely recommend Parkside Elementary School.
