Kind of interesting but absurd how the relatively small space was set up in a manner to keep it feeling open. Rational, but absurd because there were at least five seats on the hard granite (or marble) window ledge. You are provided a thin cushion, but unless your butt is nicely padded, it is of little use. Nice view of an open kitchen. Exceptional service. We tried the five course tasting menu. First, a raw-ish, cured fish (likely a sea trout) with tartar sauce, frisee, and parsley. Tasted fine. Nothing remarkable. Proportions on the palate, nothing remarkable, perhaps a bit inelegant, although it was handsome enough to appeal to the eye. Next, exquisitely thin slices of veal and thinly sliced shallots (or onions) and 'beetle beans' (they look like beetles!) with a scattering of minced chives in a rich, unctuous, briny and vinegar-ish beef broth, reminding me of mild, pastrami-like flavors. This was superb and one of my favorite dishes in Europe this year. Third, bacon jam stuffed Austrian-style dumplings sitting on beautifully prepared kraut and topped by a pointless foam. Dumpling nice on the eye and tasty with a nice chew, but unexceptional. The idea of bacon jam sounds better as an idea than it does as a thing unto itself. The kraut is key to making this work. The main dish was a seared lake trout with tiny cubes of apple or potato, a leek (maybe a bit of pea?) emulsion, slightly wilted radicchio, and another pointless foam. The cook on the fish was perfect and there was nothing wrong from conception to execution, but it was boring like a pretty person who grows up never having to say anything interesting. Final dish, dessert, a rice pudding with a plum sauce, poppy seeds, and more useless foam. Not a pretty dish by any means but quite good. Hint of something...black cardamom-ish. Including service, in toto, we're looking at around 4.4 rounded down.

It's a beautiful building located in the middle of one of the nicest parks in Munich and, has tons of outdoor space and facilities for events. This particular restaurant however, seems to have bucked the trend and has been around for a while now. Initially there were two restaurants but, now there is one. The pizza / Italian place shut down recently (not sure permanently or not) and, I am not really surprised about that. This place however seems of attract a lot of locals and, it was packed last night when we got there, around 8pm. It's an Austrian restaurant and there is a self service Biergarten there as well. I have not eaten in the Austrian restaurant so cannot comment on the food but, it looks good. Will update my review, after I have had a chance to eat there. I have been to the self service Biergarten a couple of times and quite like it. They serve Augustiner bier here (one of my favourite Munich brewers) and there is a food counter also. The food counter has normal Biergarten food choice like sausages, wurstsalat and there is a counter that makes Flamkuchen or alpine pizza. The food is quite ok here and I quite like the Biergarten food. The atmosphere is lovely and I love the park itself. We come here often with the dog, as he loves this park. I will definitely come back here again and try the proper restaurant menu. It's close to where we live and an area we often frequent. A nice and quiet part of the city.

We made a reservation just to be safe. When we arrived there were only a few tables open, so we were happy we made a reservation. We wanted authentic German food, and we were very happy with the food. The menu is in English, but the dark haired waitress was very kinda and translated the menu for us. The menu changes weekly, but they are variations of the same type of dishes. I ordered the lamb. My 3 friends ordered 2 dishes of cheese dumplings (more like ravioli/cheese balls) and 2 dish of gnocchi. I would strongly recommend the lamb and cheese dumplings. We are not gnocchi people, so we did not appreciate the gnocchi as much. Dishes range from 10 Euros (cheese dumplings - so worth it and fills you up) to 21 Euros (lamb - very good quality lamb). We had wanted the pork thigh because that is considered their most popular dish, but it had run out by 8pm. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We wanted try Bavarian food and what we got was pretty innovative food. The restaurant is one spacious room with large tables, dim lights and candles... very relaxed. They did not have a menu in English, but the waitresses were very helpful in explaining what they had. Mushroom ravioli with berries This was my favorite item of the evening! The contrast between the stuffed ravioli and sour and sweet berries was amazing. Beef steak with mashed potatoes The gravy is what made this dish perfect (according to my boyfriend). The meat was tender and the sauce was great (I agree), they must have a secret recipe for the sauce. Cheese dumplings A very interesting dish. The dumpling batter is mixed with camembert cheese and dipped in butter sauce. It felt heavy and salty in the end, but I still kept eating :) Plum tart This warm tart had a great balance of sweet and sour flavors. I liked the texture of cooked plum slices. We had some local beer with dinner, but the tables around us were all having wine. Perhaps they were avoiding Oktoberfest?
