It's on the end of a "plaza", a little hole in the wall decorated with silly signs, limited seating, huge chalkboard menu. You order your food at the counter and they call your name when it's ready. We were greeted with a huge smile as soon as we walked in (Southern hospitality) You don't get the shit in Ohio most of the time! The food.....let's put it this way, when the 2 moms (we had the grandsons) say it's hard to get the boys to eat and all 3 boys got a cheeseburger and fries and all 3 ate every last bite but a few fries and one of them (7 yr old) says "I want to stop eating but I can't" and they gave it a million The food was fabulous!! I say this about some places but this place was top notch- out of this world-I don't even know how to describe it- I ordered hush puppies, she gave them to us and said "I'll give them to you because yall are Yankees" (She had asked about the boys and told her we were babysitting and from Ohio) The BEST freaking hush puppies I've ever had!!! This is a local family owned seafood/cajun restaurant. This restaurant has a decent sized dining area and also offers a drive through pick up. The dinning area is very clean (did not see the peanut shells on the floor like I heard about) and has a television. It has some awesome decorations featuring funny and sarcastic signs. The restaurant has parking spots designated only for it in the small strip mall that it is located. The staff here is friendly. The menu is full of cajun favorites and fried foods. i went with the corn nuggets, oyster po boy, and onion rings. The onion rings were homemade. The flakey kind that are hard to come by. I loved them. They are a must if you eat here. The po' boy was pretty good too. You can choose the consistently of your oysters which I chose medium. I think they were a bit on the hard side though, but still a lot better than many other places. The corn nuggets were good too. You get decent sized servings and they offer specials and a few combos. This is definitely a place worth checking out to satisfy your cajun/seafood craving. I really enjoyed my meal here and sure that you will too. I can not wait to go back. read more

I use the drive-through for this visit. I also ordered the kids meal drink. The reason why I chose this location was because of the menus that were on several sites stated that the kids meal was $5.99. This included two pieces of fish, french fries and a small drink. The prices are not correct and have been increased which I understand with everything that's happening today. The new price for this kids meal is $9.29 plus tax. The customer service was really good at the window and it was fast. Does this match what was given in the kids meal? In my opinion kind of not it's kind of expensive for kids meal but the food was good. read more

Well I gave this place only 3 stars for a couple reasons. Let's start with the good stuff. Some coworkers and I were driving around looking for food after a conference not having much luck. This place was tucked away behind some other buildings when I spotted it. We decided to give it a try. They advertise fried fish which I was not in the mood for. When I got in I was happy to see they had boiled shrimp. That's what I got. They let you choose regular or spicy. I got spicy and man they were delicious! They were plump and easy to peel. It comes with corn and a potato. Both were cooked perfectly. They also had peanuts on the table to eat while waiting. My coworkers got fried shrimp and fish and said it was great. The down side. The order line is confusing and hectic. The dining area is small and crowded. It was loud in there because it was small and crowded which was not good for the headache I had. Winner winner catfish dinner! I had the small fried catfish, which came with 3 good sized strips of well fried catfish. The batter was a little heavier than an old school cornmeal batter- but super good with a slight crunch to it. The catfish plate is served with French fries, Cole slaw and hush puppies. I only ate the cole slaw because I'm ketogenic- but it was a good slaw with not too much mayo- was on the drier side of slaws if there is such a thing. They substituted green beans for the fries for me. They were perfectly seasoned and had bacon cooked down in them- recommend the green beans! The peanuts on the table were big ones and I could have eaten the whole basket! And this is a throw your shells on the floor place. The walls here are covered in little signs with pithy or silly statements- keeps you entertained while you wait for your order. Fried seafood that is not greasy is sometimes hard to find but Smackin Mac's has exactly that-- very tasty with a crisp and not soggy texture. No accumulated grease at the bottom of the basket either. It was just right. The hush puppies and batter for seafood had a slight sweet flavor. It is a very casual atmosphere. I personally prefer their Troutline Special. Why do you ask? Well it has 3 catfish fillets, pretty big sized shrimp, oysters, fries all supplemented with two hushpuppies, & Cole slaw! The food is not worth the wait. You're going to wait 30+ minutes no matter what. I've called ahead, ordered at a slow time, ordered and left. No matter what my order wasn't ready when they told me it would be. The service is pretty bad too. When I ask about my order (after 30 mins) I get first looks. I was visiting from out of town and only wanted to eat food that was unique to the town. I yelped this location from the hotel and gave it a try. The location was memorable, the signs on the walls were funny quotes, the staff friendly & the food awesome! I had a fried green tomato, bacon ( load with bacon), lettuce on a toast large hamburger bun with fries. Just because they specialize in catfish, I purchased a piece to go. I was very dissapointed with what I had to pay and didnt enjoy. I moved back here not long ago. Smackin Macks was my go to for Fried Fish. It was so crispy and had a great cajun flavor. Not sure what happened. The last couple times I tried the fish wasnt crispy, just flismy with no salt really or flavor in my personal opinion. I just will request the old recipie and the old way of frying back, because it was really good. I am picky about my fish and Smackin Macks was doin it for me then. It may not be entirely fair for a vegetarian to review a catfish joint. I've never eaten the catfish (although I've heard from others that it's fantastic). All I care about is the pickles - the fried pickles. I don't often eat fried pickles - maybe once or twice a year. But I am a bit of a fried pickle connoisseur. There is a right way and a wrong way to fry pickles. If the batter isn't quite right, you can end up with pickle slices that are too thick and crispy or (worse) too thin and soggy. The menu includes fried fish, fries, hush puppies, fried shrimp, po-boys, coleslaw, fried frog legs, kid meals, etc. I will sum the food up in one word ... PERFECT!!! The fish taste more like homecooked fish from a family fish fry, rather than the crunch fish from Captain D's. However, the price is pretty high for fast food. The average catfish combo (5 catfish, fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, and a pickle) cost $9.58!!! But the food is worth it and you will definitely get full. The restaurant has both inside dining and a drive thru. The inside is always clean and the workers are always nice. This place has several small tables, but it's never a full crowd inside, so you can possibly bring in a big group if you wanted (just push the tables together). They also have family packs of seafood for $29.00 (includes 15 catfish and your other sides). You probably will need to eat the food before it gets cold...because the fries will become soggy and wet over time. read more

Yumm. In town for work and this was suggested by yelp and people in the office. Very friendly staff upon entering and I explained I was a first timer. I settled on the 2 piece catfish lunch which included hush puppies, coleslaw and fries. I substituted green beans for fries. Since each order is made fresh the wait was not long. Each order came with tarter but the catfish was so good it wasn't needed. And oh my it was very good catfish. Lightly battered very hot (yes I took a bite before it cooled enough). The coleslaw was lightly dressed and crunchy (which I like) green beans had enough smoke and bacon pieces which compliment the catfish. Hot and good hush puppies which you have to eat while hot and crunchy. Looking for straight up good food this is the place. I'll do it again before I leave the for the airport. read more
