Jackie (also one of the owners) really makes me feel empowered as a woman! She constantly reminds us that we are beautiful; we are strong I have taken her Zumba toning class and tried out barre with her and wow! I had never thought that taking a class would make me more sore than lifting weights!! Angelica teaches Strong Zumba and she was actually my very first Zumba instructor years ago so I was so happy to see her! I have never had a workout with her that I was not sweating profusely. Heather teaches Zumba toning and turbo kick and I love her. I actually came to the studio because of her. I have lost 30 lbs since last August and I give her lots of credit for it. I hated working out but took her class at Knollwood country club and was hooked. No longer was I dragging my feet to do a workout! I actually look forward every day for my next class! Who knew that working out is so fun??? I really suggest trying a class or two here. Heck get that unlimited monthly deal because once you start going you are going to fall in love with all the ladies there! No one there to judge so do not worry if you have no "experience". They even allow you early access to the facility an hour before business is open, and late access until midnight, even though the main part of the facility closes at 9pm. With a member key card you can continue to work out on the machines, track, and free weights until Midnight. They have a plethora of classes going all the time including spin class, Pilates, and my absolute favorite workout... Cardio Drumming!!! Mostly I have been using the Pool and have made some great friends with regulars. If I do nothing else, I at least do the pool. There is a 4 lane lap pool, a therapy pool, and a large hot tub. They even have water aerobics classes. There is literally something her for everyone! The atmosphere is chill and inviting with a sense of acceptance for everyone. I have seen people using walkers, canes, and wheelchairs to navigate the facility, and the services provided, and... that includes the pool area. They are very equipped for disabilities and special needs of all types. The cost of Membership is right on point for what they offer. I was not informed that there was only a 5-minute window for this appointment, and I would have made more of an effort to be on time had I known. I mentioned this to Jordan over email, and received a very nasty response: "For your future information, be on time for your scheduled appointments. I had a slot to squeeze you in today between my 6 appointments that were scheduled as far as two weeks in advance, and you missed it. My time is very valuable and when people are late to appointments without any notification is very inconsiderate and rude." This was FIVE minutes. I was never told he had to leave by 10:05. Sure Jordan's time might be "very valuable," but so is mine and I wasted 40 mins driving to EQ and back this morning. I come to the area every summer, and had an excellent experience with Katie last year, but EQ just lost a loyal customer. I can't believe he'd treat a customer this way.

Both of the classes we attended had us moving around the room to various stations. A white board helped me remember which exercise was coming next. Class sizes are capped small, ensuring individual attention for everyone who signs up. A lot of gyms claim to be accessible to all, but Equilibrium holds true to that. Lots of options and modifications were offered and the teachers did a great job walking around the room to make sure everyone was able to set the machines and challenge to the level right for them. The space was clean and most the machinery was very new. I enjoyed running on the treadmill with an option to set the screen to a visual of running in various locations (in the mountains of New Zealand, etc). I highly recommend this cute spot with a local feel, well-maintained equipment, and an enjoyable atmosphere.

There is no reason to be shy about going to this facility...there are all shapes, all sizes, men, women, young and old. I was welcomed as an old friend and punished as I deserved to be. I was very fortunate that it was the Strenght and Conditioning class that evening. Our main target that night was Bench Press, and as a Member of Markham Powerlifting, I was more than happy to jump in. The Coaches and members of Crossfit Southbend are exceptional people from all walks of life and really solid Crossfitters.
