I wish we had one of these exact same game shops back home!! The atmosphere is vibrant with a solid grouping of regulars almost all were incredibly friendly to me being a total first timer and welcoming!!! I think my inner nerd was showing... The owner was super welcoming, helpful, and informative! Even saw him spot a fake card which was cool, love me some passionate people. I arrived on a trivia night and was able to join a table. I was excited that at least once a round I had an answer and some I knew at least half! That never happens back home!!!! The venue is a bit small for my tastes and how busy it was seems like they could easily double their real estate and still might not be enough, this place was popping every night I walked in. Woohoo this is where the party is in town hahahaha perfect spot to pop by with friends play a game or two and then hit the local tavern nearby, so plan for a whole evening of goodtimes laughter and local libations if you stop by. I was even allowed to watch 2 nights of a DnD campaign which was awesome. Love how the props, acting, and full character play come together. Had not seen that in-person ever so geeked out over that experience! Thanks everyone for making my stay special! Absolutely incredible shop! Forrest went above and beyond getting my teenage son set up with the StarWars Unlimited. Including sitting down and playing the first game with him to get him started and so the whole family could learn and play (practice). Our son is neuro spicy and Forrest was so very patient and enthusiastic that it really got our kiddo excited to learn. Now he can play in the community on Saturdays . We have been looking for something for him to do this summer to get him out of the house, and this is going to be a great fit. All of the staff we interacted with were lovely, the selection of games is mind blowing, location is really convenient and easy to get to. read more

I love the fact that there's a variety of Pokémon cards here! It's a great place to hang with friends, and best of all - play board games! Me and my boyfriend are first timers here, we were helped by a super chill dude named Reese (probably spelt his name wrong, sorry dude!) but he helpful and courteous. We were looking for Pokémon cards all over town (Walmart, Target, Gamescape. Etc.) but this place was recommended by a family member, so we decided to try this place out. No disappointments what so ever! Loved my experience here, and a great selection of Pokémon cards, a bit pricey, but worth it. read more

Really enjoyed my quick time here. I wish I could have spent a bit more time chatting it up with the dude behind the counter because he was pretty welcoming. Cool selection of dice where I picked up some white and blue dice and a couple random packs. The place is clean and well organized. I wish I had time to go through singles if they had any. Walked past this shop on our way to lunch and our boys insisted on going inside... so glad we did! The staff was so helpful and sweet to our boys. We bought tons of Pokémon cards (amazing pricing by the way!) and the kids explored their findings on the tables in the back for over an hour. Slow Your Roll is the best kept secret in Hilo. Located in a discrete little room above Kanpai, SYR is the place to meet and play classic and obscure board games a like. You will be blown away the moment you step into the lounge. They have an epic wall with over 200+ board games to play. Found this place by accident while in Hilo. I had some spare time before my flight and there's nothing much happening in Hilo on a Sunday. This is a great shop that sells board games, trading cards, and everything you need to have fun with friends. The staff was super friendly and answered any questions I had. They let me look through some new Magic The Gathering cards and all the prices were great. The only regret I have is not finding this spot sooner would definitely recommend this place. Such a friendly spot to hang out! As one of the few places even open in Hilo after 5pm, we gladly paid the cover charge and sat down to try out five different games over the course of the evening. Both the staff and the regulars were more than happy to answer questions, recommend games, and even join your table if you needed an extra player. Their selection of games available to play was big, diverse, and well organized - plenty to do for both the serious and casual gamer - even stuff for families. Amazing shop in the heart of Hilo with a huge selection of cards, games (table top and board), and merchandise. The staff was not only knowledgeable but also honestly a joy to speak with. The place itself was exceptionally clean and well organized with games of all types and skill levels as well as a full event calendar. They even had a room tucked away specially suited for TTRPGs with a large table with built in cup holders, custom art, and a mass of rpg books! While there we were learned about the undergoing expansion of the store which is sure to bring even more to love about the place. I'm so glad we made this place stop on our trip to the big island (and more than a bit jealous we don't have a shop this nice back home). read more

Slow Your Roll is an amazing store that is run by lovely people! Theres so many games in the store, and they sanitize the games after each use. I purchase all of my Dungeons and Dragons, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, and WarHammer needs from them, and I'm happy to know that I'm spending local.
