The store was full of interesting knickknacks, whatnots and thingamabobs from Hawai'i, definitely lives up to the name. The best part was the owner Keli'i. He was lovely to talk to! Very knowledgeable about all things Hawai'i, as well as being an authentic craftsman in his own right. read more

This is my favorite antique store on the island. The owner Kalii is truly passionate about antiques. He brings in some really beautiful pieces and often has a story to share about where it came from and how he acquired it. I stop by every time I visit Hilo and take my time perusing the shop because there are so many fun things to look at. read more

Wow, felt the spirit of Aloha and kindness at The Kickknackery- met owner Kelii, he is super friendly! He was making a lei while I browsed around and as I paid for my merchandise and got gifted a Pualeikinini lei, I was touched by his kindness. I love the fragrant smell of this flower. I didn't expect that and grateful that the flowers are in season. Just walking around exploring this part of town, I am so glad I made a stop at this shop before my lunch reservations, it was around the corner. I loved looking at the antique and vintage stuff, some items did bring back some memories of small kid times but some were quite interesting to look at. One item caught my eyes, saw a mini cute sewing machine which I had to get for my mom, it reminded me of her ( she had a sewing machine just like it). I was surprised at the price and Kelii even packaged the items up so nicely. My mom was so happy when she opened it, thank you for doing this! The Kicknackery ( cute name btw) is a unique store located in downtown Hilo, that sells a variety of items including: Antiques, vintage collectibles, souvenirs, & quirky knick-knacks. My husband and I visited this tiny gem just before Merrie Monarch. I was hoping to find a nice Hawaiian dress to remember our time in Hilo, and I found one! I love this place. He has the very best collection of antiques, ever - top quality. There is no better antique shop in Hilo, and that's a fact (- check him out on Instagram if you want to see some of the things he presents and sells). But you know what I really want to write about? Not the quality of the antiques (- that's just first rate, and a fact). I want to write about the spirit of aloha that the owner has surrounds his shop with. My 10 year old had his heart set on an antique gaming system that he was selling. My son did not have the money to buy it, and the owner let him put it on lay-away. For the next two months, my son came and paid him from his chore money, then finally walked out with the system :) Every time I pass by, we wave hi and I am reminded of that delightful experience. read more

The owner is friendly and welcoming and he knows everything about the pieces in his store. What a great place! The owner Kelii is absolutely charming, and extremely knowledgeable. He has obviously put a lot of love and thought into his shop and it shows. I was looking for some vintage aloha shirts and fabrics and he had some lovely ones. This is the kind of place you can spend hours just perusing every single item. Kelii has fascinating stories about many of the pieces and was a joy to chat with. We are decorating two condos in Kona and will definitely be back. And we'll bring friends! read more

This shop is so full of charm & personality, its bright & breezy, so much more fun than your usual antique store! As soon as you walk in, your eye will be drawn to very well designed displays, ranging from the glass counters & shelves, to the awesome changing window displays & adorable hors d'oeuvres serving trays. The owner was very welcoming & courteous,we talked story for a bit about Hawaii, weather & what I was looking for. He was so helpful in helping me find some lovely pieces for my new collection. He even had an almanac on hand he knew had the glassware I picked in it; he pulled it out & went right to the correct page - so awesome! Stopped in with my son while passing through town. The owner has a great collection of very cool stuff, and he was super friendly and knowledgeable. Surprised so few reviews about this wonderful collectible shop. It is very well curated and Kelii, the owner, has very good taste. Items are in excellent condition including the vintage muumuu I bought for a very good price. He is willing to negotiate on a price if you are reasonable. Lots of mid-century, Hawaiiana, and some nice Americana. As I said, this is well curated place. Also I loved that the aisles were not cluttered and nothing smelled musty. Kelii is extremely knowledgeable and if he happens to be unsure of something he has the ability & confidence to research it. His knowledge of Hawaiiana is a 10+ as his interest began a a very young age. I've worked with him in a few consignment situations and he is very trustworthy, honest and straightforward. He oozes "Aloha" and will likely share a puakenikeni or gardenia with you. His store is laid out beautifully. And he turned it into this masterpiece through a lot of hard work and sweat. This is my favorite store in Honoka'a! They always have wonderful vintage and antique stuff. It's well worth the drive from Hilo or Waimea.

This is just the best shop on the island. They have an extensive inventory of high quality and unique items. They *really* know what they are doing, and know the history of the items, and the era. Very helpful and fun to talk story with. The prices are quite reasonable, especially considering they are on an island in the middle of the pacific. I could live in their shop! read more

This is a wonderful shop. The two guys running the shop are just great. They know the history of every item in the ship and love talking about it. Beautiful hand selected and displayed stuff...lots of fun just to visit. I bought a stack of Don Ho 45 records...the guy insisted that he pick out the "right" tunes and made sure all the records were in good condition...also through in a couple of feebes. Go to the shop just to visit the owners! I will drop by every time I visit the island. read more
