A beautiful park and zoo in Göteborg, and it's free! Slottsskogen was the highlight of my visit to Göteborg as well as one of my favourite experiences on my trip to Europe. I highly recommend it, and if you only have time to do a couple of things while in Göteborg, Slottsskogen should be a priority. The park is huge--perfect for a picnic or a game of Frisbee, and there is a zoo (one of the oldest in Sweden, according to the website). It's a great way to spend a day, and best of all, it's free! read more

I love this place! Not much can beat a HUGE park in the middle of a city - being able to enjoy nature at no cost is something I am a fan of. There are paths for walking/running/biking, there's a giant pond with birds and little boats, there is an area with animals like ELK!, there is a playground, there is plenty of room for picnicking... and more! The location of Slottskogen is also fantastic - from one end you can easily access the botanical gardens and from the other you can head directly into town. Whenever I am in Göteborg, this place is tops on my list! read more
It's a really nice recreation area. So wide and green. Even a little zoo. If you have some time to kill and want to get away from the traffic take the tram to Linnéplatsen and you're almost there. Or if you use the "Styr & Ställ"-bikes there's a parking at the same tram stop. Feel free to bring the disposal barbecue - but remember to throw the trash afterwards The park is perfect for picnic but also there's a few restaurants and cafés in the area (which I have not tried). The outdoor seating at Villa Belparc is amazing by the little lake. When I visited the lake was green from algae though, and bottles and trash were swimming in the lake. :( In the park there's some animals and even a petting zoo for the children. read more
This park is huge and has lots of things to do if you so choose. There's a free zoo, volleyball courts, many lakes, and patches of grass to do sports. The maps are impossible to read though, and the signs are really confusing as well. The signs don't tell you the roads inside the park but outside neighborhoods I think, and it's just a really confusing mess. A lot of people like coming here to jog it seems, as it's a bit hilly but not too strenuous. There are definitely lots of trees, and the paths are nicely paced. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, but don't go out of your way to visit. read more

Lots to do in Slottskogen. Hard to know what I'm even reviewing. Check out the free zoo/aquarium. Nice place to take a walk, hike and bike ride. Disc golf course. Restaurants and cafes. The public bathrooms could use more regular maintenance though. read more
