So two of their team members came out to do some siding work earlier this year. They had great attitudes and they were very hard working. The finished product was GREAT. (Recently another one of their fine employees came out to finish another small siding job. He had an EXCELLENT attitude and his work was phenomenal). During my first siding job one of these young men took a look at one of the vertical corner pieces that they might work on during their next visit to my home. He pulled out portions of this corner piece especially at the very top where we both noticed a hornet fly out behind this same corner siding piece. At this time he had the owner on the phone asking about the repair cost of these corner pieces. When these men left they forgot to tuck this corner piece back in the way it was. It was already a little loose. I asked their team on 3 occasions if they could come out and put this corner piece back the way it was. I finally got an answer e.g. "we'll do it when we come out during your next appointment", which was over two MONTHS AWAY. My next appointment required doing the ACTUAL repair work. I was simply asking for 5 minutes of their time to tuck this back in the way it was BEFORE he pulled out this corner piece. I didn't want this piece to fly off during a strong wind. Last year it did fly off during a storm. My Home could then be exposed to rain, moisture and the elements. The owner was also very aware that barrier paper had been torn off by a previous handyman behind this very same corner piece. The next morning I thought that I heard feet near my front door working on this corner piece. When I looked at it later it seemed that it had been partially tucked back in, but the top was still very loose and untucked. I sent an email thanking their team for tucking this piece back in. Their reply was "We didn't send anyone out, but we're glad you got it fixed". Later I looked at this corner piece again and I noticed that the area near the top was still untucked. This was the area where the employee pulled out the siding piece and a hornet flew out. I don't think that any of their team members actually came out to tuck this back in properly (see posted photo). Their office is a SHORT two minute drive from my home. This was THEIR mistake. Why not just come over and simply tuck this back in the way it was so I can be more protected against the elements? I didn't want to do it myself, because I might make it worse. I don't work on siding for a living.
On the next visit they were going to work on two corner pieces and a small diagonal piece on the fascia. Much earlier I had sent them a photo of an additional horizontal piece (see posted photo) and I asked them if they could add this short piece to the next job at my home. It attached to one of these SAME corner pieces that they were ALREADY going to work on. It would be about 10 foot long. I asked the employee who came out on my last siding job if it would have taken much time to add this piece and he said "maybe about 20 minutes". We TALKED "small talk" for about 15 minutes after he finished this job so I am SURE they had an extra 20 minutes to spare. That would have finished ALL of my needed siding repairs. I let these men do partial siding lengths during their first visit to my home to make it easier for them. They easily obliged. Well the owner stated that they couldn't add this very short length of siding repair to the next job at my home. They said that they could not add any more work. UNBELIEVABLE to say the least. Just add this short and simple task to my next job. I did show the owner this 10 foot long piece of siding when he first came out. It had two patches on it. It was easy to see and it was connected to one of the side pieces he was inspecting and that he felt needed repair work. We both forgot about addressing this 10 foot long piece of siding. JUST ADD THIS SMALL PIECE OF WORK. I gave them enough notice to order any additional siding. If not then push my project date further out to SIMPLY add the 10 foot piece.
These folks shared with me their email for communication. At one point the owner gave me his cell phone number. I had texted him after 5:00PM before without any issues, but at one point I was sent a stern and unprofessional text ordering me not to call their cell phone after 5:00PM. I told them just don't respond to the text. Being professional is asking your client to do or not do a specific item NOT ordering them. I fired their team after my last project they worked on. ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT work and character from every employee, but management focuses on CUSTOMER CONTROL, not customer service. I cannot recommend Slidell Christian Handyman. read more
