In late November, our condo association book keeper noticed our "D-Block potable water use" had skyrocketed from our October use. To make a long story short, and with the cooperation of 6 owners/renters, we asked everyone to turn off their main water valve last Wednesday night until 6:00 am Thursday morning. Overnight the water consumption plummeted from 8+ gallons per hour to zero gallons per hour. Unfortunately, while that step was revealing, the leak continued after all owners turned their water back on. Today, 12/26, however, and thanks to Sleuth Leak Detection Inc., technician Jason Blizzard's amazing skills and experience, we discovered a broken underground water line emptying into the woods behind a particular D Block condo. We found a small pond! Jason is an amazing technician. He was professional, listened well, was cooperative and ruled out several "leak" possibilities. As a result of Jason's pinpointing the problem, we were able to locate a plumber on short notice to come and cap off the leaking line above ground. SLD Inc's price was fair and 100% worth the expense. Beginning tomorrow, we will see a dramatic drop from 11, 520 gallons a day to possibly less than 4K gallons a day. Thanks Jason. I had been called from the water department that I had a possible leak in my house. I called Sleuth Leak Detection and I had an appointment almost immediately. A technician by the name of Phillip Eddy came out to the property and he was very professional. He walked me around to both meters, one for the house and one for the irrigation system. He spent time explaining to me first, where the meters were located and he determined that there was not a leak in the house. Which was good news. Now we had to identify why my water bill was so high. It was determined the problem was two fold. First it was the toilets running too high and secondly it was the amount of days I was watering the lawn and the amount of time in each zone. With the toilets, he adjusted the valves. We had a situation where our floors in our mobile starting breaking down. We contacted sleuth and a gentleman named Mathew was assigned to our job. This man worked very professionally to find the problem. He knew it was a moisture problem but due to the insulation and vapor barrier, he could not do his job fully. He explained , he would contact our adjuster and he would be back soon so he could finish the job. within the week, Mathew contacted us again, this time they had given him permission to remove the obstacles that constricted his examination. Within 15 minutes he had found the leak. He explained he had clamped the leak to prevent any further damage . Phillip Eddy came out to review our water meter and found that the meter was showing a small leak. After checking out a number of things he actually found the source of the problem which was a zone valve that needed to be replaced in the irrigation system. A previous detection company had told me that the leak was under the dining room floor and wanted to re pipe the cold water line at a cost of $16,500. Philip was very professional and he actually saved me a lot of money. I have owned 8 houses here in Florida and I have met and worked with a lot of good contractors and a lot of bad ones. This company charged $300 to look under a bathroom vanity and say "yup, there is the leak." They did not use any tools or diagnostics equipment. Additionally, when I called to tell them an insurance claim was going to be filed, I was told in a very abrasive tone that "if it is not paid in 30 days, we are going to put a lean on the house." I was hoping that this was an office manager having a bad day, however, when I called and spoke to the owner, I got the same type of treatment. What a joke....... Called to get a quote to detect an under slab leak at an exterior garage wall. The sales girl said the quote is based on the homes square footage, the bigger the house the higher the charge....what does square footage have to do with a garage slab leak???? Sleuth quote was $450.....based on the home square footage. 2 other local leak detection businesses quoted $275 & $300. Amazing enough those quotes were not based on the homes square footage. Initially a different company was called (only because it was the weekend and Sleuth was not available until during the week). That company came out twice in one day, but did not locate the leak. On Monday, the very next day, a technician from Sleuth came out and located the leak during one visit!! I was very excited because I was able to take a hot shower! Your Technician Philip came to the house 7/17 and did a full inspection. He found the leak in the guest bathroom toilet tank, shut off the valve and called me up North to explain the problem and advise how to discuss it to the town utilities department. Excellent prompt service. Checked all areas in the house for a leaks to be sure there was not more than one leak. Correctly pinpointed the leak's location in a hot water line in the kitchen. Since I wanted a temporary patch, he removed a section of kitchen flooring and broke into the concrete slab to access the pipe. It was all done with a minimum of disruption.
