The salesman was very pushy. He immediately gave me some spiel about having one high end floor model on clearance that I could get for half the price if I bought it RIGHT NOW!! If I didn't act now, someone else would surely snatch it up since it was the last one. Which in hind sight was probably bullshit just to create a sense of urgency. He made a big show of looking it up in their database and pointing out to me how there was only 1 left, which was excessive if he was actually telling the truth. Anyways, he seemed sketchy and I didn't trust him, and I'd be willing to bet there were 20 brand new ones sitting in their warehouse.
But I thought the bed was very comfortable and the price was good, so I agreed to put a $100 refundable hold on it so I could go home and look up the mattress online. If I didn't cancel, they would deliver it and charge the remaining amount to my credit card on delivery. While he was giving me the specs, I noticed the pdf he pulled up had a different name than what he put on the receipt... which I found odd but I didn't say anything. When I went home and looked up the mattress name he gave me, there was NOTHING. I'm pretty sure he made it up to prevent me from price shopping. When I looked up the name I saw on the pdf, it existed, and the reviews were mediocre to bad.
So I called back and spoke to the same salesman. He asked for my order number and acted like he was typing it in at that very moment and cancelling my order. He said I would receive my money in a few days. 6 days went by and nothing, so I called back and spoke to someone else. He said my order had never been cancelled. If I hadn't called in today, they would've showed up at my house tomorrow with a mattress... I'm a little suspicious the order wasn't cancelled intentionally.
Needless to say my experience was bad and I don't think I will ever buy from Sleep Country after this. Whether the mattress was a good deal or not is irrelevant... their sales people seem manipulative and untrustworthy and I shouldn't have to call twice to cancel a hold. read more
