On many occasions you can watch the process of a boat going through the working canal locks, which is pretty neat. There are picnic tables, a shelter, restrooms, and if the locks arent in use, access to the canal trail on the other side. Plenty of parking. Just an all around nice place to spend a little while. It isn't very big so if you are looking to get some exercise you are best heading to the canal trail. This place is also dog friendly, as long as you pick up after them, and my dogs quite enjoy sniffing around.

It's really a nice paved and scenic path along the Black River. If you look at the website it says it is 4.5 miles, but I have a feeling it is much longer. The Black River is pretty long, so it might turn into dirt trails. You can actually walk close to the Black River, but I wouldn't recommend getting in because you might drown or get swept away to who knows where. I read a report recently about someone falling in. Parking: I'm pretty sure we parked at the Trailhead located at E. Rutland Street near Stone Drive. See photo. See the website for more parking locations. Recently spent a day here. It is a love place that takes accessibility measures seriously. While…read morenot absolutely perfect, I can tell the path has been constructed so folks using electric wheelchairs can navigate with relative ease. This is a perfect spot for a picnic lunch with a date or a family. The geese and ducks are fun to watch, and kids may get a kick out of feeding them. There is a small building where you can purchase snack foods and make a donation to feed the birds and walk around. I am looking forward to warm Sunday's fishing. Also, they have children's fishing on Saturday. The views are great and is at the foot of a tree covered hill. Perfect for reading a book.

A very good place to stop in on if you are going fishing in the Adirondacks. Has a comprehensive stock of flies, rods, reels and equipment. There is also a lot of spincast items as well.
