This Memorial Day weekend, we were in inlet and Frisky Otter Tours made worth of it…read more They have variety of kayak, canoe and standing paddle boats. Best part was having Connie as our instructor, she is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in her job. We rented a tandom kayak for my family of three. She was very detailed in giving all the instructions, fastening our life jackets and helping us to get into the water comfortably. I had never tried standing paddle boat before and always thought that's the difficult one. When I saw a couple doing that, I got more curious. When I ask if I can try, she offered a beginners one which was easy to balance and then explained all the techniques. She herself did the demo and then let me try that. Initially I was little paranoid of falling down but her continuous encouragement from the shore helped me to get comfortable and stand easily. I spent more than an hour on the standing paddle boat and she didn't charged anything. What was more priceless for me was that her lesson which helped me to learn something new. We were group of three family and all appreciated her effort working with us. So if you are in inlet then this is a MUST visit. Worth every penny.

Connie went above and beyond to ensure this was the right kayak for me, especially since I was 5 hours away in NJ. When we finally got together, Connie spent a great deal of time with me and my husband, shared info about the kayak as well as helpful roof mounting tips. She values her customers and keeps her word. I highly recommend her for all your kayaking needs!

Would like to notate the customer service I received here. Amazing. I didn't rent or purchase…read moreanything but had some questions regarding the paths to take with Moose River. Nothing but helpful. I do know they offer services other than renting. They will drop you and your kayak off down the road as well as to pick you up. You can also use your own kayak and pay for this service. Recommending the business because they can create value and a great ADK experience for you.

Great family owned business run by the nicest people. I've rented kayaks & paddle boards from here…read moreon multiple occasions and I've had the best experience every time. The first time we rented paddle boards to go on Moose River (the ramp to get into the water is right in back of the store). I wouldn't recommended paddle boarding on Moose River though. The water isn't the cleanest, and if you fall in it would be a nightmare lol. $8 and hour to paddleboard on the river, $20 something if you rent a kayak. The second time we rented the paddle boards for the day and went to Nicks Lake (which is a 5 minute drive from Tickners). they drop your paddle boards/ kayaks off at Nicks beach, you just have to sign some quick paperwork and grab life jackets + paddles. It's a $10 admission to get into Nicks Lake but it's pretty much a private beach area with picnic tables, camping, a jungle gym, clean bathrooms, beach area and a life guard. The actual lake was gorgeous. We paddle boarded for 4 ish hours and made it around the entire lake! And the water is clean enough to swim in (it's $28 for the entire day to go on Nicks Lake). I can't wait to come back!
