The first time we rented paddle boards to go on Moose River (the ramp to get into the water is right in back of the store). I wouldn't recommended paddle boarding on Moose River though. The water isn't the cleanest, and if you fall in it would be a nightmare lol. $8 and hour to paddleboard on the river, $20 something if you rent a kayak. The second time we rented the paddle boards for the day and went to Nicks Lake (which is a 5 minute drive from Tickners). they drop your paddle boards/ kayaks off at Nicks beach, you just have to sign some quick paperwork and grab life jackets + paddles. It's a $10 admission to get into Nicks Lake but it's pretty much a private beach area with picnic tables, camping, a jungle gym, clean bathrooms, beach area and a life guard. The actual lake was gorgeous. We paddle boarded for 4 ish hours and made it around the entire lake! And the water is clean enough to swim in (it's $28 for the entire day to go on Nicks Lake). I can't wait to come back!

We rented canoes from them twice - first to Raquette Falls and second up the river from their shop...both incredible journeys. We've canoed/kayaked all over the U.S. and I doubt you'll find a better outfitter -- great equipment, very efficient, and delightful people!

Jones V has sadly passed away on the evening of August 18, 2022, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He died doing something he truly enjoyed. Thomas graduated from South Glens Falls in 2006 and continued on to get an Associate's degree from ACC. After graduating from ACC, he worked at Trustco bank in South Glens Falls for a short time until he realized that he had to follow his dreams. Five years ago, he decided he wanted to open his own business and that is when Devocean Watersports was born. He managed to put together a great team of employees that helped him with boat charters and jet-ski tours on Lake George, out of the hotel "Twin Birches." Thomas loved his business and put everything he had into it. His smile and enthusiasm was infectious to everyone he met along his journey in life. He really enjoyed teaching people how to do things that was out of their norm. Thomas also made many friends down in Marathon within the keys were he went every winter, enjoying life to the fullest. I'm reviewing the rentals, facilities and the business's atmosphere…read more I recommend the kayak rentals and the drop off float down the river. It's a 3-3.5 hour float and requires some portage. The whole family (there are no rapids; I recommend ages 11+) can feel connected to nature and that've had an enjoyable half day laid back kayak excursion in the Adirondacks. I made a kayak trip with my lady with this business, and then I came back again with family. The outfitters and staff are small town friendly.

We stayed at the High Peaks resort right next door, and their boats weren't out for the season yet - Mirror Lake Boat Rental to the rescue! NOTE: if you are planning to go soon (this review is being written on 4/27/21) this boat rental shop will be VERY DIFFICULT to find. You need to look for the sign I have in my photos that tells you to text the number provided, then follow the dirt path behind the construction to the little desk that will give you instructions. This shop technically does have open hours, but we had to text the owner Greg upon arrival and then waited for him to come down and rent us a boat. In the future, I would recommend just texting before heading down there and meeting him when he's already there. Check out their website for full details of cost and times and such. $30/hour for most of your standard boats, including the fun bikes! We opted for a paddle boat so we could save money and be out on the water together. The hour flew by even though it was a little chilly when the wind blew. Cash only, which is inconvenient but understandable considering this biz is fully outside, and there's an ATM at the resort across the street if you need it. This is a great way to see Mirror Lake from a new vantage point and is TONS of fun. Happy boating!
