The rooms with a river view actually do have a fantastic view. I also like that rooms on the top floor have limited elevator access, which cuts down significantly on noise when you have an early morning and need a good night's sleep. My husband and I tend to be pretty particular about the cleanliness and quality of our accommodations, and this place is a favorite of ours. My mother, sister and I stayed at this hotel in route to visit her sister in Hospice care. We brought in small carry-on bags and nothing else. Reviewed my American Express bill and was shocked to see a charge I was not familiar with. Called hotel and they indicated it was for a PET CHARGE. I do not have a pet, nor did I bring someone elses pet along for a 10 hour drive to visit a facility where pets are not allowed. The lady I spoke with advised there was pet hair in the room. I do not have any idea how, unless left by previous occupant. We did not notice, however were in bed within 10 minutes of arrival. She advised that the only thing they could go off of was they saw hair. I DO NOT OWN A PET. I am sure there are cameras. When we checked out we ate breakfast in the lobby....again with no pet lol. I think this entire thing is ridiculous and I will change my ways with where I book in the future. (I did advice desk clerk on phone that I was on meds that cause some hair loss, she advised that "they could tell the difference between people and dog hair"...apparently not.

He kept apologizing and saying "it's late", which was unnecessary and sounded like an excuse... it's the graveyard shift, so your job is to be alert and kind. Not that I'm some snob demanding attention... it's just that I was understanding and didn't need him to explain every extra second that it was taking. I was just happy to be there and don't expect fast and perfect service. I digress. The room didn't smell like smoke, so right there, a big win. It was a nice size studio suite with two queens and it was the handicap accessible room, so the bathroom was huge. Beds and pillows were comfy and air was working well. We got decent sleep! Only two complaints... due to the lack of a tub in the bathroom to accommodate wheelchairs, the shower overflowed into the room and needed towels to clean up. The drain and flooring were not installed to properly address the water flow. This is one reason for the minus 1 star. The other complaint is that the continental breakfast was pretty bad for the cost of the stay. They only had one option for hot food, a breakfast sandwich, which tasted microwaved. I don't expect a huge buffet, but fresh fruit would have been nice. I still have four stars. I would stay again, but maybe for a lower rate.
