United, just taking off with wheels coming up
    Dave L.

This is the place, I been here twice already, I'm local so I come in on Bart, and take the free sky train to the terrace. Now what about the Sky Terrace it's an airplane lovers, airplane spotters paradise. Security guard on constant duty, plenty of indoor, and outdoor seating. Also I met a family that had a six hour layover and they spent most of the time up there, it's so comfortable. It is located between Alaska airlines and United airlines, so if you're traveling with them, your real close to the sky Terrace. Also in my case I bring my lunch, they allow you to bring food and drink, and don't forget to use the trash cans.

There was a wait list with an expected wait time of 30 mins but I got a call within 15 mins that a spot had opened up and was ready for me. The lounge itself is on the floor above and there are steps and elevator leading to it. The place is large, there are restrooms, light therapy rooms, private rooms, private nooks, several dining tables, couple of drink stations, a full fledged bar with seating in front of it, about three stations for food etc. Food options had a couple of soups, bread station, fermented veggie section, a couple of mains covering both vegetarian and non vegetarian options, salads, desserts and some hummus and pita bread for appetizers. This was no cruise ship style spread and the options were fairly limited but plenty satisfactory. They had some barley for carb option which was uncooked but other than that everything was decent. There were several waiters cleaning up after people pretty promptly and the place was maintained well. There was a huge table smack dab in the center with books and I was disappointed to find that they were all props. Overall I managed to relax and grab some food to eat before my red eye flight. I look forward to coming back when I use this airport again in the future.

I did like that everything was self serve, so you can grab as much food as you want and relax before boarding. One thing I would recommend is arriving at the airport at least three hours early if you plan on visiting the lounge. I only had two hours before my flight, and I ended hp being on the app waitlist for an hour before getting in. The lounge can get busy, so plan ahead to give yourself enough time to enjoy it without feeling rushed.

The check in staff were all super kind and there was an abundance of food and drink options. Unfortunately like many club lounges, they've become quite busy and people are very tacky with the space they use. It was full and difficult to find a seat but we eventually made our way to the far back and found something comfy. There was the standard Illy coffee bar with my favorite espresso drink machine. They also have that fun Coke freestyle machine! They had snack options, three salad options, chili, pasta, cream, puffs, cookies, cheese, and crackers, and a number of other options. Very good selection! The bar was off to the side and there were a ton of great beverage options for the adults as well! Really enjoyed our visit to this lounge at the beginning of the F gate.

This place is where I'm going. Not for 3-4 hours but at least for half an hour to lounge and snack. Food? Yes. Decent . . . bordering on good. Service is frenetic and takes a little getting use to, but when you see how clean it is, you'd understand why. That being said, the folks checking you in are super helpful and give you the lay of the land. Ambiance is equally frenetic but when you consider all the people vying for a seat, looking to grab a drink and some snacks so they can chill for a minute, you'd understand why. So if you find yourself with some time to spare before your United flight (or other associated airlines), check it out.

Not sure why people over judge and under appreciate if it's provided as a compliment. First thing to know is this place gets busy and I've always had to wait. If the wait is too I sadly head over to one of the priority pass lounges. Ayez and Dutta are amazing at the bar if you like to socialize and have fun. Food is much better than most other lounges and they have a wider beer, bourbon and whiskey options. Salmon was moist, prawns not shrimps in the pasta and the desserts were fresh/ Big shout out to the hard working staff and Constantino for a well oiled operation.

On Friday afternoon of what for many is an important holiday weekend (Easter), the Centurion Lounge was limiting access and using an online waiting list. I hold the Platinum Card® (primary cardholder). I had to wait about 20 minutes to enter. I checked in to the queue by scanning a QR code at the door (there are different codes for each type of cardmember, so if the sign with the codes is up, be sure to scan the right one). After you scan, you'll be taken to an online form to fill out. You'll get an email or text to confirm you're on the waitlist, and another with a QR code when it's your turn to enter. Once you get your code, go to the reception desk and show your QR code and boarding pass. If it's busy, you'll be asked to choose a table or seat appropriate to your party size (i.e., if you're alone, don't take a table for four). It is a nice space, with a variety of seating. After the wait, I didn't have a lot of time to explore before I needed to be at my gate, so I went right for the food. Food quality was good, but not stellar. I was able to get some nice chicken and a vegetable. Had to try something sweet, so I got a chocolate-dipped coconut macaroon. THAT was really good. Staff were all friendly and helpful. They were staffed well enough that tables were getting cleaned promptly as soon as people left. They do have a bar, but given time pressure, I didn't get anything. I don't fly out of SFO all that often, so I don't know when I'll get an opportunity to give the Centurion Lounge another chance. But I do hope that once Terminal 3 is renovated and they're back in their regular location, I might have a better experience.

As a result, everyone is funneled into China Airlines Lounge. I feel bad for the staff because it quickly got overfilled and the staff member checking guests in couldn't even do check-in because she was running around bussing dishes. Food was average. Fried rice with what looked like frozen veggies. Chicken and broccoli which was a bit salty but not bad. Self serve bar is nice though! Made a gin and tonic that was tasty. Fortunate enough to snag a large corner table with chairs and a booth. Was able to be productive amidst the chaos.

One caveat though that Jamie W and I discovered was that if your flight leaves from International Area A, you're given access to this business class lounge instead. That's because it's a rather excessive 25-minute walk away from the United Polaris Lounge in International Area G. When we asked the check-in agent whether this lounge was comparable to Polaris, he gave it an 8 out of 10. He was being much too generous. It turned out to be a claustrophobic two-room space where ironically, the first-class room was more cramped than the general area. There were barely any outlets, and it was so tight that the rotating chairs kept banging into each other. There were three warmers of hot Chinese food, but none of it was that tempting. We managed to snack on stale cookies and diet soft drinks. There was a full staff operating here, but the experience didn't really warrant that level of attention. I think the next time, we'll just build in the extra time to get back and forth from Polaris if we really want the more ideal lounge experience. RELATED - Waiting at the airport? I thought ours was quite friendly, but things moved slowly at times - which was fine since we had like, three hours to chill. The portions are quite tiny though! Feel free to order more than one entree. The older Asian couple next to us knew what to do because they ordered a starter and then two mains each. Not sure how often the menu changes, but for dessert, I would skip the matcha panna cotta and go for the cookie. It's basically a mini version of BJ's pizookie, complete with vanilla ice cream. The main lounge itself has decent seating areas if you can snag a spot. Bartenders were hit or miss. One didn't seem super friendly, whereas the other was way more personable.

For me, the quieter side of the lounge was better though away from the food. Here you could see the progress being made on the Terminal 3 construction. Also the bathrooms on this side of the lounge were definitely cleaner and no lines. The buffet was so so but we were able to get seated in the dining room after just a five minute wait. Last time was over an hour so this visit was leisurely. Lunch options were small plates and satisfying. Beef kofta was a little dry but tomato harissa sauce helped a lot. Shrimp orzo with saffron was tasty with three large prawns. The wild mushroom bourguignon bouchée was my favorite with the meaty sautéed mushrooms layered on top of a puff pastry and covered with the boursin sauce. I would order it again. Polaris signature burger was a consistent go to for at least one of us. Juicy beef, crispy bacon and grilled onions on a brioche bun was filling. Lastly dessert choice was the matcha panna cotta and it disappointed as the matcha was just a tiny layer at the bottom of the glass so no discernible flavor. At least the grapefruit topper was juicy along with the sesame crumble were both the highlight. Great service from Elsa through our meal! Hopefully it doesn't get more crowded after all the fare changes United made to get more paying customers for Polaris.
