My wife and I visited Ireland from 10/10/24 through 10/23/24. This was our first time ever…read morevisiting Ireland and we split our time between Dublin and Galway. Our time in Galway was spent on tour with Caddie Tours. The specific tour was Sean Fleming - Best of the West (Galway) Tour. My wife and I know Sean from the Auld Shebeen Irish Pub in Old Town Fairfax and make sure we have reservations any time Sean shows up. In a nutshell, Caddie Tours, under Niall Leogue's watchful eye, was excellent and thoroughly entertaining. Sean alone would have been enough, but Niall was the cherry on top. Engaging, witty, and charismatic, Sean and Niall provided everyone on tour memorable experiences. The tour included visits to "The Quiet Man" village (where I not only walked in John Wayne's steps, I wore the clothing and acted out a few of the scenes (thanks, Niall)), Aran Islands (wonderful scenery and small village shops), and a Story Telling evening in the back of a pub in Galway called The Office (Brian Nolan, The Story Teller, was incredible!) to name a few. Intertwined with the visits was singing by Sean Fleming who literally had his acoustic guitar with him EVERYWHERE we went. He sang on the bus, in a church, in a few pubs, and the hotel bar! All in all, I highly recommend using Caddie Tours as part of your visit to Ireland. Splitting our time between doing our own thing and using a touring group was excellent as we were able to enjoy having the freedom to do whatever we wanted while also enjoying a planned, guided event. Turned out to one of my favorite gifts as the tour opened our eyes to places we have not tried for one reason or another, plus got a little history and learned a couple of things. Terry was our Tour Guide, he was awesome and very knowledgeable of the area, the history and the food. It was a walking tour, Terry kept a pace that everyone could enjoy, did not rush, explained each stop in advance. He also seemed to have a great working relationship with each of the stops staff. We were seated quickly at each spot, and did not have to wait long for our food. Each spot served enough to give you a taste of the menu, and each stop was very good. The Mexican food was amazing, and one dish in particular will bring me back sooner than later. The crazy thing was most of the ingredients are not on my favorite list, but together- Bam !!! That was the cool thing about the tour, took us out of comfort zone, and exposed us to selections we normally would not have tried. Definitely recommend this tour, Terry was the best, and not just because he is a fellow Nats Fan- LOL. Ok, well I can't just drop everything when you call to go sailing, please take my updated a availability? I hope other employees are better-suited to customer service and maybe kayaking and other options are still worth it, just wanted to let everyone know of my experience. Learning to sail had been on my bucket list forever so when I saw that the Mariner Sailing School…read moreoffered sailing lessons for adults every week of summer I decided to sign myself up for my own "summer camp". I have to tell you that learning to sail was an excellent decision because I actually learned to sail a 19 foot flying scot independently! My lessons consisted of four 2.5 hour morning sailing lessons out on the Potomac, Monday through Thursday. The sailing school also offers adult weeknight and weekend classes and different kids camps. The instructors split my class up into groups of two or three, went over some of the materials and then out onto the water we went to learn how to rig the boat and raise the sails. My instructor Ray was awesome, he taught us what we needed to know and even pushed us to run docking drills by ourselves on the last day of classes. Yes, at times the lessons were super challenging and nerve wracking, but once you get some practice time in, you'll get the hang of it. It's worth it to learn how to sail. I myself now find sailing enjoyable and ridiculously relaxing. Everyone I have encountered at the marina either teaching lessons, working in the office or out on the dock have been super friendly and helpful. They give you a free week of practice sails after your lesson so that you feel totally comfortable sailing independently and the people at the dock give plenty of tips to help you continue to hone your beginner skills.

Seats were clean, small kitchen area was clean and, most important, the bathroom was clean. There was plenty of room for the four of us and the boat would have easily held another couple or two. We were able to bring our food and "adult beverages" on board. There is a fridge down below and one up top so there was plenty of room to keep everything cold. We decided to do a Friday night "fire works cruise". The Captain met us at the dock, made sure we were all settled in and knew where the safety gear was and headed out. First, we went up the Potomac River and saw the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the Washington Monument and Watergate (awesome). We went under quite a few bridges and train tracks which was pretty cool. Captain Rick has been working on the Potomac River for 10 years and knew what the monuments and buildings all were which was nice since we are from out of town. We got up to Georgetown and then flipped around and headed to National Harbor for the fireworks. It was so cool to enjoy a bottle of wine and see them from the water. Once they were over we headed back to the dock. I got a little chilly on the way back and he even had extra sweatshirts that the girls could use. Nice touch. I'd highly recommend Captain Rick. He is easy going, very knowledgeable about the water and local area and really wants to make sure you have a good time. He can do fireworks cruises like this or pick you up and take you wherever you want to go. Was really a fun thing to do and what a great way to see DC from a different angle. I'd highly recommend this for either tourists or folks who live in DC and want to do something out of the ordinary.

First off, more and more moms wanted to come and it was so easy to email Ghostly Spirits and let them know we had more people coming. Our tour guide, Lindsay, was AMAZING. She was so knowledgable and really, really kind. We don't get out much and she was very patient and cool. We went to a variety of different pubs and bars and had lots of great drinks and heard some AMAZING historical stories. Ghostly Spirits is a company I've used in several different cities and it never disappoints. Next year we are going to be in Texas and will ABSOLUTELY book a private tour with Ghostly Spirits again!
