The waterfront of DC lit up at night

If you're looking for the best ride on the Potomac River, then I highly recommend S and S Charters with Captain Shane. It's a great experience to cruise around on a 27' yacht and Chef Nikki was amazing with the food available on the trip. The atmosphere on the boat is fantastic, with new LED lights and a sound system to enhance your lounging experience in any area of the boat. Captain Shane made sure that we were safe and comfortable during the trip by going the extra mile. I highly recommend this experience!

A beautiful day to be on a boat

Such a beautiful catamaran, we loved sailing with this crew, the music and food was so good , we where celebrating a friends birthday

We had a fabulous time out on the water! We did a girls only cruise at sunset, it was great to see Baltimore from the waterfront. We went all the way out to Ft Carol and back for a little tour of the harbor. It was so pretty seeing all of the lights from the water! The catamaran was nice and clean and had plenty of space. Captin Paul was awesome! Big thanks to SS Charters!

Very cool experience with S & S charters. The Captain ensures you are safe and entertained the entire time. Definitely recommend!

I had an amazing time sailing with S&S Charters! Between the music, food, the vibe, and Captain Shane, I couldn't have asked for a better sunset cruise! I will definitely book again with them!

    S&S charters cancellation policy

Unfortunately, I was rescheduled abruptly (without my knowledge) and then cancelled by S&S charters. See attached screenshot as evidence. I'm STILL WAITING FOR MY $50 (paid $163.50 and received $113.50). They deducted a cancellation charge which they deduct for a customer initiated cancellation BUT I DIDN'T CANCEL, S&S CHARTERS CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT. As you can see in the screenshots, it was first confirmed, then rescheduled and then cancelled. Too bad ... I still have running texts going with Captain Shane and reminding (read as begging) him to refund my $50 money back and he is going in circles, wasting my time and money... Hey S&S charters, if you cancel on me, at least be FAIR and decent in your business to refund in full. Don't steal other people's money to grow your business!!! Also, if you want to respond to this review, it better be the receipt of the remaining $50 refund. If you don't have that receipt, don't bother responding!!!

Enjoyed my sunset cruise on S&S charters. The boat was beautiful and the food from the private chef was amazing! All of my friends said this was the best time they had in a while and can't wait to go again. I definitely recommend this boat cruise.

We had a great ride on the Potomac in DC. Nice boat, nearly new. Shaw was a great captain and really took care of us. He even dropped us off at a different location closer to our hotel so super flexible. Cheers Shane! Jim and Linda from AZ.

Great boat! Fun captain! Highly recommend!

The boat is nice but however i would NEVER book again. The captain Shane offered my group of ladies a deal of if we all write reviews he would give us a free hour. As we got on the boat trying to set up our food and drinks he's stopping us complaining saying we needed to do the review before we sail. He has a laminated paper with QR codes for review sites. Not to mention he said the preference is YELP! He had to read and verify that it was done before he decided to sail. While giving out his rule speech he became very agitated that some of us were on our phone. With his speech and QR code mess that took up an hour. The birthday girl bought food and liquor and we observed him helping himself to our provided goods. He's very arrogant and his demeanor ruined our fun. After we docked he started begging for tips. He made disrespectful comments because tips weren't given. I would never recommend this boat.

You can sit either indoor or outdoor on the Boat. If you are indoor, remember to wear a mask. There is also a bathroom on the boat, as well as a snack counter. This is a fun experience for out-of-towners, but also something that took me quite a while to try as a local! Definitely a great experience to take a day trip to Mt. Vernon this way, which is what I did. Pros: Easy to find: The boat is bright yellow and says "water taxi" in black letters on it. It is impossible to miss it, I would think! Very helpful for the directionally challenged! I boarded at the Wharf, but I know that there are numerous stops. Quick Onboarding: Getting on-board was a very quick process. It is advised by the company that you arrive 15 minutes early, and I can see why, because the water taxi quickly boarded folks and took off punctually. I was able to book the trip online, and received a QR code, which I showed to a man with a scanner who was boarding people on the boat. Sooth trip: Overall, the trip was very calm and smooth. We made good speed, but nothing super fast, as there were many paddle boarders and kayakers on the water. I am sure that the bumpiness or smoothness of the ride is largely out of anyone's control, and more dependent on the weather, but my ride sure was relaxing! Fun facts, but not too many!: As you make your way on the water, the speaker shares a few fun facts about buildings that you pass, and some history on the land you see. I thought that the amount of information provided was good-- enough for me to learn something new, but not annoying or nonstop. Space: The water taxi that I boarded, which left around 8:30, was crowded but not overwhelmingly so. I actually found a spot near the bottom entrance of the boat, which was a pretty unique place to sit, and extremely comfy! No one else was really too close to me aside from the friend I traveled with, so I felt I had good space! Transport to fun places!: I took the water taxi from the DC Wharf, to Mt. Vernon-- the trip was about 80 minutes each way, and made stops all along the way. I could have also gotten off in Old Town, Alexandria, for example! This is a unique way of visiting these spots for a reasonable price. For what it's worth, Mt. Vernon was awesome too! Cons: - The confirmation emails that I received after booking online were a bit confusing, just in how they were organized and worded. As I read the email, it seemed that it was listing my initial departure time incorrectly. Eventually I figured out what the email intended to say, and was able to access my QR code, but I did have a little initial confusion there.

Some people were just getting their meal at 8:45. There were two DJs one to the left of the boat and one to the right. Unfortunately, we ended up on the the right with the DJ that played music so old and slow I could almost smell the mold off of the album covers The sad part about this was there was a mixed age group on the right side. The couple next to me were clearly in their early 20s I am mid 50s even still, none of us could identify with these old slow songs the DJ was playing. The dessert came literally when we were pulled back into port. The complimentary roses they advertised were extremely wilted. My total package cost was over $530 dollars and I felt as though what they delivered did not live up to what they advertised. Thank Goodness for the lovely lady sitting across from me who detracted from what surely would have been a disappointing evening.

My partner and I booked the "DC | The Ultimate VIP Date Night Package: Private Hot Tub Cruise for…read moreTwo" for our anniversary, trusting the explicit promises of a private, exclusive, and romantic experience. The reality, however, was a masterclass in deceptive marketing and a complete failure to deliver on the core tenets of the purchased package. While the on-site staff were professional and understanding, the business practices of SeaTheCity, under its owner Adam Schwartz, are profoundly misleading and warrant serious scrutiny from both consumers and regulatory bodies. Our expectation of privacy was not a mere assumption; it was a guarantee cemented by the company's own marketing language. The booking page for our "VIP Date Night Package" unequivocally states: "Private luxury Hot Tub for two - No sharing, just you and your special someone." "Group size Date Night Package is Limited to Only 2 People." "Set sail on your own VIP hot-tub boat." "...your private Washington D.C. escape." These are not ambiguous statements. They are direct, material promises that form the basis of the purchase. The phrase "Limited to Only 2 People" and the explicit "No sharing" clause leave no room for interpretation: the experience sold is for one couple, and one couple alone. Upon arriving an hour early, as instructed, we were informed by the crew that we were waiting for "the other couple" to arrive. This was not a private charter; it was a shared excursion. The very foundation of the "Ultimate VIP Date Night" was a fabrication. To be clear, the package we purchased was being sold to multiple couples on the same vessel, at the same time. The crew, to their credit, acknowledged the misleading nature of the company's advertising. While we were eventually issued a full refund, this gesture fails to remedy the situation. A refund does not compensate for the ancillary costs of transportation, the time wasted, the meticulous planning for a special occasion, or the profound disappointment of having a long-anticipated anniversary celebration collapse at the dock due to the company's duplicity. This is not a simple case of miscommunication; it is a textbook example of false advertising. From a legal standpoint, SeaTheCity's practices are deeply concerning and expose the business to significant liability. To the attention of SeaTheCity management and its owner, Adam Schwartz: Your marketing materials constitute a legally binding offer, and your failure to provide the advertised service is a breach of contract. Furthermore, your advertising practices fall squarely within the purview of deceptive trade practices as defined by federal and state law. Material Misrepresentation: Under consumer protection laws, including the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Act and D.C.'s corresponding consumer protection statutes, an advertisement is deceptive if it contains a representation that is likely to mislead a reasonable consumer and is "material" to their decision. The promise of a private, exclusive boat for two is not a minor detail; it is the central, defining feature of a "VIP Date Night Package." Your representations are therefore unequivocally material. Reasonable Reliance: A reasonable consumer purchasing a product advertised with phrases like "Private...for two," "No sharing," and "Group size...Limited to Only 2 People" will naturally and justifiably rely on these statements. You are cultivating an expectation of exclusivity that you knowingly fail to meet. Bait-and-Switch Tactics: This practice borders on a classic bait-and-switch, where customers are lured in by an attractive offer (a private cruise) that is not actually available as advertised, and are then presented with a lesser-quality substitute (a shared cruise). The fact that other couples are booked onto what is sold as a "Private" package for two is a willful misrepresentation. Continuing this practice exposes your company to potential legal action from consumers, class-action lawsuits, and investigation by the D.C. Attorney General's office for unfair and deceptive trade practices. The civil penalties and damage to your brand's reputation would far exceed any marginal profit gained from this deceptive booking strategy. This review serves as a stern warning to future customers: scrutinize every claim made by this company and do not expect to receive the private experience you are sold. And to the ownership of SeaTheCity: I strongly advise you to consult with legal counsel and immediately rectify your advertising and operational models to align with ethical standards and the law. Your current approach is not just a disservice to your customers; it is an unsustainable and legally perilous way to conduct business.

So you pay extra for that. I've been on about six cruises with this line, and the one completed I have this time for the same one I have every time. The service is at best mediocre. For example: - two of us ordered sodas, and after everyone else got their drinks we started half hours. We were told that happened the carbonation wasn't working on our deck so that during had to come up from the deck above ours. I waited another 10 minutes and the wages came by and said how about I give you something that doesn't have carbonation in it? It's pretty sad that you have a cruise and you can't serve a soda - if you get up and leave your drink for even half a second they swoop in to clean up the glasses. The drinks aren't cheap and if you just bought one and put it down to go talk to somebody to come back and it's gone it's quite annoying. - nobody on the staff and seem to know anything about the special thing that was going on. It didn't know when it would start where we should go or anything about it. If you're running a special event the people pay a premium for your staff should at least know the who what when where and how - when the special session with the TV guest stars started the sound system wasn't working very well at all and even though they have microphones you can hear anything they had to say because the speakers above us weren't on - they left the bar open during the question and answer session with the TV cast and so we have a Non-Stop din of people in the back of the room that made it even harder to hear - they did not do a very good job of keeping the food on the buffet stocked. The salad, which was the first thing you get to in the line, was empty when I got to it and still had not been filled by the time I reached the end of the line Not quite service, but something related is how incredibly loud it is when you are eating. You have hundreds of people in that enclosed space eating your plates clicking you have service staff walking around. So that's loud enough. But then you have a DJI who's supposed to be playing music and insists on talking all the time and no one I mean no one could understand what the heck he was saying because it was so loud and their PA system is so terrible. We all sat there saying we wish he would just shut up and play music Ask for the food everyone said it was good. Not great, but tasty and good. There were no complaints about the food at all. So if you go on one of these cruises and really want to enjoy yourself get your own drinks at the bar and not from a waiter or waitress, then eat your food and go up to the top deck as soon as you can and enjoy the breeze and the view.
