Float DC is a fantastic and fun experience. After you sign up online, you and your group meet at the dock and he gives you the code for entry in case you have to go back and forth. The driver cannot drink so determine before you go who is doing what and then the DD of the boat will go through a 15 min overview of the boat, steering, storages etc. Everyone must sign waivers online beforehand and the driver is required to take a test on boating safety and protocols. The boats have Bluetooth capabilities so bring your phone and connectors. Life jackets are required and depending on your time slot you'll have a good amount of time to go out and come back. Steering can be a little slow so as the driver you have to be aware of your surrounds and abide by boat etiquette. If you've never steered a motor or sail boat before you may want to take a lesson or hire a captain. Handling the boat in rough water would be difficult without sone experience. All in all we had a really great time and I'd rent again but do a longer session so we can go further down the canal. Definitely recommend for all my water enthusiasts. read more

Goboat was a great experience. I really want to give the experience a 5 however, it was missing a scheduler. I booked on Father's Day and there was a lot of double and triple bookings that took place which turned my 2-hr 1:30 booking into a 2-hr 2:15 booking. I had baby boomers in my party so explaining what was going on to them became a little tedious. Even with that hiccup, Benny & Vusi still delivered great customer service, they were helpful in instructing us how to use the boat, as well as personable and professional. Nice couple hours on the water. Really easy to operate. Toooooooo much information to even retain but the staff were very helpful. Everyone operates the vessel. My three year old was ecstatic about it too. It's a little awkward but I've operated everything now except an aircraft..... Price was decent for (2) hours on the water. There's not really many places you can go. You just cruise the channel back and forth. The boat is equipped with Bluetooth and a Bimini too is a must. That sun will barbecue you if you're not careful. I suggest bringing ice, drinks and food. We snacked on fruit, chips and water. We had dinner reservations after the boat ride. We really should have eaten dinner on the boat. A Mother's Day can snatch $1,000.00 just like that. The memories are priceless! read more

We had THE BEST time floating the Potomac with Float DC! It's a perfect activity for a little date night or to hang with a group of friends! Love this idea! Bring your own food, drinks, friends and/or family and enjoy a nice day on the water. My plan was to do the boat ride early before it got too hot and then brunch nearby after. It worked out pretty well, but next time I would plan to arrive earlier and report right to the dock and not the address I received in an email. Also, if you are bringing a picnic you might want to consider a wagon or the like bc the walk from the garage with a bunch of stuff is not fun. Fortunately one of the guys with the company offered to help us carry some things. If you opt for the shade canopy, they do charge an additional $25 fee. The boats are new and very nice. I love that they are electric and Bluetooth ready! They make sure they are properly sanitized between clients. During the actual boat ride we did experience some trouble steering the boat. They advise you to exit the dock where there is a lot of boat traffic at a low speed, and then you can power it up faster when you are on the more open water. Well because at the low speed the boat was hard to steer we were afraid to go faster. I think it may actually be easier to steer at a higher speed, but they should definitely go over this more beforehand with the "training". Anyways, we had a fun time floating around and I'm looking forward to coming again. read more

I would've like to squeeze 8 on board. Definitely get the optional Bimini for shade and cushions. Without the cushions, you're sitting on hard plastic. read more

Our experience was perfect! Our host was so attentive and told us everything we needed to have a safe trip. As the owner of a new business, he was highly attuned to customer satisfaction. Battery-powered electric boat was quiet, and importantly, had no smell of gas. Highly recommend going out early in the morning when there's little traffic. *UPDATE: The patron that secured the boat rental was refunded. However, it is unclear if the customer service and safety issues have been resolved. * I've patronized this company on multiple occasions, and each time I have experienced issues with customer service. This last time the boat our party rented was essentially out of service for the entire two hour rental period. During that time multiple patrons in our party called, emailed, and texted various company representatives for help--to no avail. This was extremely concerning as our party was stuck on the water, with a toddler present. To my dismay, the company representatives who were at the dock could tell something was awry, even from a distance, but they never came out to assist us. It wasn't until we were able to creatively maneuver the boat near the dock to literally yell for help that we were assisted by the two representatives. One of which who confirmed the issue with the boat and who also stated he would share our concerns with the owners. Unfortunately none of the patrons in our party, nor the person who made the boast reservations, have received a reply to our correspondence during and after the unfortunate experience. Needless to say, I can no longer support this company. Nonetheless, it would be great to hear back from a representative in order to rectify this situation. read more

I've done the one-hour electric boat ride twice now with some friends and had a blast both times! The boat is the perfect size for a few friends to go for a chill boat ride and have a few drinks. Fantastic experience, we went on Saturday (6 people) and booked for 2 hours and it was so fun we added another hour and the Float DC staff were accommodating to our request to extend the time. I recommend coming early because the the clock starts ticking exactly when the time you booked the boat for. So It is a good idea to make sure you're on time.
