Wow! What a great experience! Jimmy "The Kid" was my tandem instructor and TJ was my videographer. Both were fantastic. The hangar was nice and clean and all the employees I met were super friendly and helpful (Tyler and Madison!). They all made jumpers feel at ease and safe. Our appointment time was at 10:00 on a busy Saturday and after a short wait (1.5-2 hours?) we were loading the plane. We were back on the ground safe and sound by 12:30. I jumped with my brother for the first time today and couldn't have had a better time. Everyone we met was friendly, professional, and excited for our first jump. Before the jump, Victor, my instructor, briefed me thoroughly on what would happen and what I needed to do, and made sure to repeat the high points throughout the morning so that I wouldn't miss anything. He and the rest of the crew were cracking jokes during the ascent, and got me out the door and through the jump just like he described in the briefing. We opted for the video package, which I definitely recommend. The videographer--Daniel was mine--interviews you before the flight, jumps with you, and gives you an "attaboy!" when you land, which is nice. I immediately put a deposit down for a second jump and will come back later this year. A fantastic experience. Also--if you're caught waiting for the sun to show itself, there's a cafe at the airport that makes a mean BLT. Recommended! read more

I was gifted a jump for my birthday this weekend and was beyond excited! When I got there, I walked up to the window and gave them my name for the reservation. They joked around and talked about what a beautiful day it was to go skydiving. I chose to get a video and pictures as well. This cost almost $100 (You're basically paying the cost of the camera person's jump and their time) but it was worth it. I can know relive it whenever I want! Everyone was incredibly nice. This is something they all love and it shows. I had a short conversation with one of the workers about what to expect and then watched a short video telling me the vital things that you're supposed to do for a safe and really fun jump. These were very simple things like staying with your instructor on the walk to the airplane, not grabbing onto your tandem instructor during the jump, keeping your arms out and your legs between theirs, arching your back during free fall and how to bring your legs up for the landing. I reviewed this about 5 other times in conversations with the seasoned jumpers that were also going up, so i felt completely prepared. They suited me up and then I went and waited by the flight line. We boarded the plane where there were two long benches. You straddle these so you can scoot yourself towards the door when you're ready to jump. I sat in front of my tandem instructor. We took off and I enjoyed the view. He let me know when we were at 2,500 feet and informed me that we would be jumping at around 13,500 to 14,000 ft. We went over those instructions once more and then he clipped us onto each other. After the non-tandem jumpers left the plane, it was just me, my instructor, and the videographer. We made our way to the door where I dangled my feet over the edge for a few seconds before we smiled for the camera and did a smooth rocking motion out of the plane. The free-fall only lasts about 45 seconds, but it was amazing! You are so high up that you don't actually perceive the ground moving toward you. I made sure to immediately get myself in the position I was supposed to and then had fun feeling how the slight movements of my hands and arms affected how we moved. I'm a bit jealous of the professionals who can do flips and interact with other divers before they release their chute. I also enjoyed falling through a few clouds and actually feeling myself hitting the droplets of moisture in the air. After the chute was released, it was incredibly peaceful. I went at around sunset, so I was able to just float while watching the colors in the sky and the hilly landscape around Cullman. We were under the canopy for about 5 minutes, so we also had plenty of time to do some really exciting spins and turns. My instructor, Brad, was really nice and let me control the chute and execute some spins myself. The landing was just as fun as the rest of the fall. At this point, you can sense the ground moving toward you. We did some turns to get into position, I lifted my legs and we slid in like a baseball player. I can't recommend this enough! It was an incredible experience that I would be lucky to do again. If I'm not that lucky, at least I have the video. (which includes plenty of laughs at how your face looks while falling at 120 miles an hour.) read more

They took me last minute. Super sweet people. Truly a family like experience. They make you feel welcome and safe. They are so efficient and really care about safety. They offer a great deal when youre done, you can pay a 25$ deposit and you'll only pay a balance which costs 139 for the whole dive I believe as opposed to the 179 Groupon price. I paid cash and they matched the Groupon price. Parking is easy. The lounge is comfy to wait. The bathrooms are clean and have two stalls and a shower. I was wearing a dress and flip flops and had to change into my hiking clothes. They taped up my hiking boots to prevent the books from mistakenly getting caught on the parachute. I really loved my videographer, she was the highlight. Very supportive and helpful. My harnesser was a hoot as were the others. I highly recommend this place. There are three photo packages. 1)your tandem diver on your back uses a wrist cam 2)you have someone jump out with you to take aerial footage on a gopro on their helmet 3) you get both people to take footage for you and get both perspectives. I chose the 2nd one. I would def return here if i was a local! read more

I had one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life here. I actually went in 2012 and Brandon was my tandem instructor. This is an extremely safe, and yet most out of control thing I have ever done. I hope whoever may read this, and whom may have always wanted to do this, to take the time to see and meet the staff and get this off your bucket list. I started skydiving at a pretty young age (back in the 90's). I've been "retired" from the sport for a while. Holy moly, this drop zone is nothing like the old days. At first appearance, it looks like any other. Just some hanger that sits by a small town airport. Let's not judge this book by its cover. As soon as I walked in, I noticed a huge difference between this and every drop zone I'd ever been in. The front room had nice furniture, multiple large flat screen TVs, a massage chair, and was really clean. As we walked into the next room, I was shocked to see a really cool gift shop with everything from gear, to shirts, to Go-Pros. This is where the instructor met my friend I'd brought for a tandem. He quickly began giving her the quick ground course, while I took the kids out to watch the incoming load. They were flying their main aircraft on this day, the Grand Caravan, so loads were up and down in the blink of an eye. This helped me keep the little ones entertained. We didn't have to wait long. With the help of good weather, she was on the way to her first tandem in less than an hour. Back in the day, this was totally unheard of. All went according to plan. We only had to wait about fifteen minutes for the edited DVD and disc of pics from her jump. If there was one thing that I had to choose as negative, it would be the cheesy pre and post jump interviews they do on the videos. It's just not necessary. This drop zone is top notch. Trust me, I've seen a bunch of them all over the country. read more

I did my first tandem at Skydive Alabama in October 2015. The level of professionalism at this dropzone was noticeable to me at the first moment. The team has a huge focus on safety (rightfully so), while at the same time not sacrificing the fun of the sport. After my tandem jump I was hooked on the sport and decided to sign up to get my A-license. The first major milestone on this journey is graduating from the accelerated freefall program. Which I did today. At this point you can jump by yourself and are responsible for yourself. However, everyone at this place is so awesome that they are more than happy to help you with tips, do's and don't's. All in all I highly recommend this facility, no matter if you are a first timer or a veteran jumper. read more

Holy moly! I just jumped out of a perfectly good airplane and SURVIVED! Whenever we got to the airport I was nervous and that's no lie! As soon as I walked in I was greeted with so many smiling faces that were actually making me feel 100% comfortable with signing away all of my legal rights away hahaha! But seriously! The girls that work behind the scenes are ninjas! They keep that place rocking and rolling all with smiles on their faces! We sat through a brief training video and then it was up up and away to the airplane. My instructor Derek was phenomenal! He made me feel so at ease my entire skydive. He promised me my stomach wouldn't drop and he was right. I can't even put into words how awesome it was! It's definitely something that you have to go and try instead of reading about it! I purchased the video and picture package! Worth every single penny! My videographer Scott provided me with 100 pics that I will cherish for the rest of my life! Along with a pretty sweet video to go with it! Thank you to the entire staff of skydive Alabama for making my experience wonder! Another plus, they have clean bathrooms! Hahaha read more

I thought the place was awesome!! I felt secure and well instructed! Eric was awesome!! I would definitely do it again! The only reason I would give it 4 stars is because there was a 2 hour delay in our jumping. We didn't mind but the girl at the front desk didn't really keep us informed about anything. And then it was going to be over an hour wait for our pics/video and again they didn't inform us about. Found out I could just have them mailed to us and I felt like at that point the girl at the front was completely bothered by me asking about it. So place was awesome, jump was awesome, instructor are awesome. Maybe just a little bit better communication skills. read more

I could not have asked for a better first skydive experience. Everyone at Skydive Alabama was super nice and professional. I am afraid of heights, but I loved the experience. I cannot wait to go again, and I definitely want to team up with Nick. He was so funny. I still laugh watching him in my video. I didn't know what he was doing (or what I was doing wrong) during our jump. He was dancing, swimming, and pretending to eat my hair. Nick, you are a trip! this place was great! i felt safe going on my first dive and i would 100% do it again. my instructor's name was Lauro. the rest of my family also had a good experience with their own instructors. it was a bit of a wait to actually start the process- we were there for about 3.5-4 hours, where there was a lot of front-loaded waiting. the staff was friendly and great to talk to, though. overall great experience :) read more

Wow. what an experience. If you are on the fence, get off it and go. I am a short, fat(though under the 250# weight limit by 10 pounds) balding old guy. If I can do it, anyone can. I can not look down off a tall building or bridge, or climb very high on a ladder, but I went last week to skydive for the very first time. It was a 65th birthday present from my wife who knew this is something I have wanted to do for a long time. She figured the kids were grown, so go ahead and do it. The people at the center were great, professional and knowledgeable. Had a short video, and then an instructor gave a talk on how to do it and what not to do. The staff make it easy. I can say I was very nervous at the center, and downright scared once we were in the air. After the instructor pried my fingers off the door, out we went. The change was immediate. I was having a great time. The free fall was over too quickly and the time under the canopy was great, you could see so much around you. The landing was very easy and smooth. It was possibly the most fun you can ever have...with your clothes on..lol. And if this is your first time, make sure you get the pic/video package. It is well worth it. Got a lot of great pics and a video to look back on. And even laugh at in a couple of places. like prying my fingers off the airplane door .And the look of pure joy on my face during the free fall. I did my first jump last Sunday. I enjoyed it so much, I went back again today. If this is a bucket list item, you really need to do it at least twice, The second time was an entirely different experience. The fear was not there, I knew what was coming. It was still quite a rush, but in a far different way. I could relax and totally enjoy the experience. The free fall seemed to last longer, the time under the canopy seemed quicker. It is sill an amazing rush, but in a different way. This will not be the last time I do this. It is just too much fun! Again, if you are on the fence about doing this, get off and just do it. I purchased two tickets with this organization for my son and husband to sky dive together while my son was home visiting for the holidays. They had an appointment for 11am on Sunday, December 27th, with instructions to call in the morning to make sure weather was conducive. We called four times and did not get an answer, left messages and did not hear back. Given the weather seemed ok, the two of them drove an hour to get to the location on time. Upon arrival the facility was deserted. My family waited over 60 minutes past the reservation time and then finally left and no one ever showed up. This organization charged me over $450 dollars, caused a wasted hour trip north with nothing to show for it. Skydive Alabama; we want a FULL REFUND. You run a poor organization and I would not ALLOW MY FAMILY TO JUMP OUT OF ANY AIRPLANE YOU OPERATE AS I FEAR FOR THEIR SAFETY under your guidance. I highly recommend to anyone interested in skydiving to go elsewhere. read more
