Getting situated......learning how to operate the electric ATVs.

Our family loves the outdoors and we've tried just about everything there is in and around the Carolinas. Discovering this NEW outdoor adventure option was quite the find! While it was quite chilly (low 30s) when we started, we still had a great time! We wore warm gear and Sky Valley supplied everything we needed for safety (helmets and goggles) and protection (coveralls, jackets and gloves) - the combination was perfect. Training at the onset helped everyone get acclimated to the electric ATVs and a nice training course helped build confidence before we hit the steep trails. Everything is easy to control and the pace made for a great balance of risk and fun. We loved every minute of our time.....not wanting it to come to an end. We can't say enough great things about Sky Valley Zip Tours....their facility, equipment, guides and sweet dog (Colt) are all top-notch!! Whether ziplining or mountain catting.....you'll love it!

What a wonderful experience! This was the best money spent on a family vacation. Not only do you get a cool ATV ride up to the 10 zip lines, you get (if you're lucky as we were) two awesome tour guides, Logan and Andrew, who were the right mix of professional and fun. The picture package is also well worth it. We got a lot of great pictures that captured our adventure. We zipped over the beautiful valley, rappeled down a small cliff, and tested our courage through it all. It was so much fun! Our group's age ranged from 18-62, and we all have a truckload of great memories to take with us. Despite all of the great pictures, I bought myself a cool T-shirt to wear my memories for years to come. Can't wait to come back! Thank you, Sky Valley Zip Tours

10/10! Our guides, Grace & Max, we're absolutely amazing & it was so much fun. We did the zip lining package & its def well worth the money. It took us about 3 hours, 10 different zip lines & two other mini adventures. So thankful we lucked out & had our guides, they are really the best & made our experience so much more memorable!

Some of the photos we received as part of the photo package.

My family of 5 went on the Mountain Cat Adventure tour today. Our guide was fun, very knowledgeable and patient with us. The trails were fun and challenging. We expected a bumpy ride but it was very rough on our backs and we will be sore tomorrow. I'm not sure if the video advertising it on the website was taken somewhere else or if the trails have changed since the video was made - but the trails were a bit different than we expected (for instance, the video and photos showed people riding across a creek but we did not). While we really did enjoy ourselves, the price was extremely high ($110 each) for what we did. We paid for the photo package as well (an extra $25) that did not meet expectations. The website states "Our guides take pictures during your adventure and you may bring personal phones/cameras for picture opportunities, if desired." At I paid for the photo package thinking it would be better to have someone take photos while we were riding on the trail and we could take our own when we were stopped. As soon as we stepped out of our car, the guide told us to leave our wallet, keys, phones, etc in the car. I figured it would be fine since I purchased the photo package. But the only photos our guide took were of us one at a time, while we were stopped in the open grassy area between trails. In the end, we received a total of 2 photos of each of us, not even a group shot.

We had a great time with Sky Valley Zip Tours. It was a lot of fun. I've zip-lined before, both indoors and outdoors (Callaway Gardens, Lake Lanier), but this was my first time zip-lining in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In my limited zip-lining experience, I believe Sky Valley gave me the biggest workout, mainly because it's probably the longest zip-line course I've completed. There are 10 zip-lines with a cliff "jump" and swing bridge in between. To be safe, you should have a decent level of physical coordination and athleticism before attempting this course. Since I'm out of shape, my abs were sore for days afterwards. Sky Valley's office is located out in the middle of nowhere. I lost cell service (T-Mobile) as we drove to the "zip shack" as did my friend who uses Sprint. Our friend who uses AT&T barely got a signal. The shack has Wi-Fi if you need it. Our group of 5 scheduled a late summer Friday afternoon (2:30pm) zip and were grouped with 5 others so we had a relatively big group. Combined with the 2 guides, there were 12 of us total up in the tree canopies. The weather was perfect. We wore a combination of shorts, jeans, T-shirts, and polo shirts and were fine. The guides wore shorts and athletic polo shirts. You must wear closed-toe shoes. It's possible for stuff to fall off your body during the course, so Sky Valley suggests you leave small personal items in your car or at the shack. It's a good idea. If you have eyewear like sunglasses, straps are recommended. One of our guides had a camera and took lots of pictures of our adventure. All of the pictures were available for purchase digitally after the tour. If I recall correctly, we could buy the pictures on a USB stick for about $25. Sky Valley asks that you not bring a camera with you on the tour. Admittedly, I "smuggled" my small point-and-shoot to snap a few photos when we were on the ground or safely secured on a canopy platform. Take small belongings at your own risk. My camera has a strap and I kept it in one of my jean's deep front pockets so the likelihood of it falling out was slim. The other zip tours I've been on did allow cameras, so I was a little surprised when I learned Sky Valley advises against it. Like any zip-lining establishment, you have to sign a waiver before you begin. You then suit up in a harness, helmet, and gloves. The zip-lines at Sky Valley utilize a handbrake where you must manually brake by applying pressure directly to the line. The glove on your dominant hand will have an extra layer of brake "padding" to assist in slowing you down safely. The tour averages 2.5 hours and you have to show up 30 minutes before your start time to sign waivers, use the restroom (recommended), and suit up. You also might spend time afterwards looking at the photos that were taken so plan to spend at least 3 hours on-site. A big reason why the tour takes so long is because there is a training and safety class that you must take, as a group, upfront. This takes up a significant amount of time as each person gets acclimated to their harness and how to properly zip-line and hand-brake. After the class, you head to the warm-up circuit which consists of the first 3 zip-lines on the course. These are short lines where you practice what you just learned in class. Each line has a name. On the 3rd line, Freestyle, you learn to tuck. In zip-lining, tucking means bringing your knees up to your chest and rolling yourself into a ball for the purpose of maximizing aerodynamic efficiency and thus, speed. It's also a great ab workout. At the end of Freestyle, you can do a pose for the camera. Funny poses are encouraged. One of my friends did a muscle man pose while another pretended he was laying out like a model. I pretended I was riding a tricycle. After the Warm-up Circuit, you're thrown right into the fire with Big Momma, Little Diddy, and a cliff "jump." Big Momma is the course's longest zip-line at 1,600 feet. You go from one hallway of trees to another. This line puts you 300 feet over a valley and the view is breathtaking. Big Momma is followed by Little Diddy which is the course's second-longest line. It brings you back over the valley. These are the two most scenic lines on the course, so try to take them in. The cliff "jump" isn't really a jump, but rather a rappel down a rockface. They just call it a jump for dramatic effect. The swing bridge is kind of like the bridge from the end of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. The most memorable line after Big Momma and Little Diddy is line #9, Greased Lightning. It's a straight shot downhill with no belly, so you must brake almost the entire way. You can pick up some serious speed (35-45 MPH, perhaps?). Our guides, Smae and Skyler, were awesome. We purchased the "Zip & Sip" tour which cost $96.46 per person. This did not include tip for the guides. Along with the zip-line tour, Zip & Sip includes vouchers for beer and half-price appetizers at Lost Province Brewing Co. in Boone.

    Getting ready to head out!

I don't know where to begin. It's AMAZING. The staff is amazing, the website is super helpful, the location is beautiful. Hands down our favorite activity we have done in Boone! We found them through a simple Google search. I emailed asking the age/weight requirements. I received a prompt response going over the details. Our 8 year old is 70 lbs and our lil guy is 4 and right at 40 lbs. I was advised Whistle Pig (kid zip) would be perfect for them. We booked via phone. They fill up so don't wait. Our slot was Saturday at 10 am. We arrived 30 minutes early as requested to sign waivers and prep for harness. It was SMOOTH. All necessary paperwork was available and the harnesses were laid out. Our 4 year old passed the requirement to be able to reach to 48 inches. This is important due to being able to maneuver the "whatever technical term" is when moving the zip. We took a badass kabuta (spelling?) To the location. The kids loved riding through the water. Once we arrived you could see the platforms and lower zip lines. Our instructor did a great ground level course on how to move along the zip. He was patient, informative, gave helpful hints/cues so the kids were well prepped. He did a phenomenal job. Anyone who can break down zip lining to a 4 year old deserves a trophy! (Or beer!) I always felt my kids were safe. Our instructor stressed safety rules and when our 4 year old didn't listen he broke it down. Again, he did a great job!!!!!! We zipped for our full time, 2 hours. We were never rushed and the kids loved it. Tips for others: Wear pants Dress in layers as the early morning can be cold. Closed toe shoes Kids must wear helmet (parents too when in zip line area) Bring your camera! Bring a camcorder! Please TIP your instructor. The amount of time, energy and pure activity level they put into your child's experience us worthy of a tip. If you have a 4 year old, the guy deserves a tip. Book in advance. We will most definitely be back during our next trip.

What a great group of young people!! My sons and I visited over the weekend and had such a fun time zip lining. From the moment we checked in until the time we left, we had such a positive and professional experience. Rebecca and Harlee- our patient (yet super fun) guides- navigated us through the course with a mix of jokes and smiles. But, we felt as though our personal safety was an absolute priority with them at all times. Plus, everyone strictly complied with the company's COVID policies (thank you!). I highly recommend that you check them out!
