Already a well-known pilgrimage site among Catholics, the City of San Juan, TX, is also home to the…read moreGelman Stained Glass Museum. It's here where you'll find beautiful works of Catholic artwork depicting major scenes from the Life of Jesus Christ. Having visited San Juan many times (my family and I usually do every year), I consider the museum one of those places I'd pass by, but don't bother to check out. That is, until today. One of the women at the front desk told me that it wasn't formerly an Orthodox church, which I originally assumed, and it was constructed in 2015, finally opening to the public six years later. The exterior, and of course, the interior resemble one of those epically grand cathedrals in Europe. With a chant recording wafting in the background, a visitor can easily get lost (mentally) exploring these magnificent masterpieces. It's a good thing photography is allowed so as long as it's with your phone, tablet, or even a camera. Speaking of which, I captured several of the stained glass windows that caught my eye. Among those that stood out to me were the Birth of Jesus, the Holy Family's Escape to Egypt, the Resurrection of Jesus, and St. Patrick's presentation on the Holy Trinity using a shamrock. There are also a few statues standing guard amidst the exhibits as well. Another tidbit I got from the front office is that a chapel acting as the miniature version of the museum is under construction just a few feet away. It's projected to be completed this year. I'd you ever find yourself in the Rio Grande Valley, please pay a visit to this hidden gem.

Edinburg Scenic Wetlands & World Birding Center is a separate place than the Edinburg Municipal…read morePark, but they are next to each other and trails lead from in to the other. The World Birding Center portion has it's own parking lot and there is a modest fee to enter. The walking trail around the pond is free. You can park at the municipal park and use the trails around the pond and/or the multiple trails that go through the park. Both places are well developed and beautifully designed. The trail around the pond in the Scenic Wetlands area has some beautiful views. There are many native plants such as mesquite, palo verde, Nepal, and other cacti for which I don't know the names. The morning I went to walk, I was admiring the nopal which was blooming profusely, as well as the ducks, herons, and other birds enjoying the water. The walking trail is pleasant, "paved" with a gravel type material, much is shaded by trees which have branches arching over the trail (that is a big plus if you go in the daytime). I didn't see a sign to indicate the length of the trail that goes around the pond, but it took only about 20 minutes to circle it. It took me longer because I kept stopping to take pictures. Once I circled the pond, I went through a portion of the municipal park where there are also some ponds, trees, playgrounds, picnic areas, ball fields, restrooms, etc. My wife and I used to take our children (when they were small) along with a loaf of bread to feed the ducks in the largest of the ponds at the park. I have not gone into the World Birding Center portion, but intend to do so in the near future.

My fiancé started coming here just a few days ago and the greatest benefit she saw to this place is that she is with a group of females only and can work out comfortably in this kind of environment. She really likes this place because all the workouts are made for females which will enhance body areas that she is interested in improving. I am not going to lie that this place also makes me feel comfortable knowing that she is with a all emails group doing something she loves. The only thing that might make some people uncomfortable about this place is that the group of females that has open these gyms are also Herbalife sales reps who promote their products within these facilities as a way of achieving your goals. If it gives you any peace of mind based on what my fiancé has told me they don't push the products on you as much as some might think they simply are recommended.

They also were very helpful in informing people about the team and is current situation in the season. This game was actually a playoff game and was the first in the teams history which sadly ended with a loss. My experience was great and will make sure to make it out to every possible game next season because of the great environment! I recommend for everyone to give this place a try since they will have a beautiful stadium next season and good quality soccer go watch!
