If you are looking for a nature-based, whole brain / body learning experience for your child, I…read morehighly recommend Fitz! My husband and I were looking for a nature-based preschool for our son in Central Mass. A friend recommended Fitz and we fell in love with the program. The school has before care, after care, summer camp and holiday programs. It's our one-stop support system since we came from out of state. The property backs up to a nature reserve, and the kids spend hours outside learning and playing. The class ratios are small, and the different age levels interact with one another. My son loves having an older reading buddy and playing with older and younger kids. I love that my child is getting fresh air, sunshine, and learning through play. One of my favorite parts of the school is the support we got as parents. The owner of the school is an experienced child education consultant. She regularly hosts parenting classes and community events. My child is strong willed and stubborn, and the school taught me how to work with his personality so that everyone in our family is happy and harmonious. One of the core values of Fitz is preserving childhood. In this day and age of stress and sensory overload, I'm so glad there's a place my child can go where he gets to learn and just be a kid. Developing curiosity, relationships, and critical thinking are some of the positive traits we've watched our child develop at Fitz. The only "negative" I can think of is that once you experience this education model it's hard to go back. Once we learned that most of the public schools have 15 minutes outside per day, we re-enrolled for kindergarten. The school currently runs to grade 5. I'm so glad we found it.

There are a few good teachers in the Children's House, but beyond that, very little has been positive. Ms Manviya is great! Teacher consistency is poor, and there have been numerous management changes. The only good thing is that the classrooms are spacious and filled with natural light. We have since removed our enrollment due to these ongoing issues.

But the second she transitioned into the toddler room, everything fell apart. She came home with undocumented bite marks -- yes, bite marks that no one noticed or cared to report. She was sent home in soiled diapers almost every single day. The staff used the wrong diapers, wrong wipes, and even applied diaper rash cream when I had specifically instructed them to use coconut oil. That was never authorized. It felt like my directions as a parent were ignored. The turnover is out of control -- teachers come and go constantly because they are clearly underpaid and unsupported. The director changes so often that there is no leadership or accountability. The classrooms are dirty, the toys are old, and kids are always sick because the place is not properly cleaned. And if that wasn't enough, their billing practices are a complete disaster. Despite my child being on a voucher, they suddenly decided I owed them $4,000 because they didn't process payments correctly for months. Then they had the nerve to demand I pay it all at once, as if their incompetence was somehow my fault. At the end of the day, I pulled my daughter out because I could no longer trust them to keep her safe, clean, or cared for. I put her in an at-home daycare and the difference is night and day -- she is calmer, happier, and thriving. Guidepost Montessori in Marlborough is nothing more than a glorified, overpriced daycare that fails children and families. They are disorganized, careless, and completely unprofessional. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the stress, the money, and the heartache -- your child deserves so much better.

There are some key points that set Hudson Children's Center apart from other daycare centers and pre-schools: 1. A good portion of the day is spent outdoors, in their large backyard filled with picnic tables, swing sets, and climbing structures. 2. The staff are caring and engaged, meaning you won't find them preoccupied with their phones. 3. There is a major focus on daily art projects and creativity. 4. There is a beautiful inground pool in the backyard. During summer, any potty-trained child is able to participate in daily free-swim in their floaties with staff in and around the pool, keeping good care of safety. 5. Also in summer, a dedicated swimming instructor provides private swimming lessons for every child whose parents opt to sign them up for lessons. The extra charge for private lessons is a major bargain. The core staff are Robin and June who have worked at the center for many years. They set the tone for peace, calm, care, and creativity. Every weekday morning, I bring my daughter to pre-school. I interact with the staff and the children. I feel welcome and comfortable. I know my daughter is well-liked and well-cared for. I know that every day, she is being enriched with creative projects and fun learning by her teacher, Wendy, and a great team. Every afternoon, when my wife comes home with our daughter, I see that our daughter is happy. She's had a great day at Hudson Children's Center. My daughter's pre-school class is diverse, which is important to my family. The center has a private, online group for parents. Almost daily, teachers share with us photos of our children participating in enriching activities, including gym time, programs with their dedicated music teacher, field trips, and general play/silly time. I feel like the team encourages my daughter's creativity and individualism. Even at 3, she likes to choose her clothes. Sometimes she'll opt to wear a costume. When she arrives at the center with me during the morning, she is met with enthusiastic and supportive staff members who notice her, notice what she's wearing, and compliment her. Depending on your work schedule, one negative might be that the center is only open until 5 pm, so you must arrive before then to pick up your child. Honestly, children are at daycare for so many hours during the day... They may arrive as early as 7:30 am... The 5 pm pickup time makes some sense. In my experience, after 5 pm, children are longing for their parent pickup and hoping the next person that arrives is their parent to pick them up. Of course, the "early" pickup time won't work for everyone's work and personal situation. I recommended Hudson Children's Center without reservation. To summarize, my daughter is well-cared for. Her creativity is fostered. The education is enriching. The swimming pool and swimming lessons are a huge bonus and value. The staff are engaged, creative, and caring.
