I have had animals my entire life and truly have never been as disappointed as I am with this vet…read more We took one of our cats in because we suspected he had bladder crystals and it turns out he did. We brought the vet a urine sample and he showed it to me under the microscope. It was all going well until he told us that we had to put both our cats on a prescription diet. We feed our cats very high quality wet food because one of them is very picky. The vet told us we had to buy dry kibble from him and could no longer give our cats the other food. He also prescribed an antibiotic to help with the stones, which we gave to our cat, no problem. However, after a week of our cats not eating the new food, I called and had them give us a prescription wet food, which they didn't eat. We contacted our old vet in Virginia and they advised us to try a different brand of food but they couldn't send in a prescription since they hadn't seen our cat for this issue. So on Chewy, I ordered the food and was waiting and waiting for the vet to approve it but they never did. So I called, and to my surprise, they just denied the prescription (without contacting me) because the vet "didn't know anything about that food." I was shocked! I told them our cats hadn't eaten in over a month, and when they did eat, they'd just throw the food up. They were visibly losing weight. THEN, when I asked to have our records emailed to us because we were no longer going to be giving them our business, they said they don't have internet hooked up in their building so they couldn't send us our records. Very strange that 1) the vet wouldn't do research on this food to try and help our cats after we paid them over $300 and 2) that they don't have internet. In 2022. I wouldn't recommend this vet to anyone. Check out Chevy Chase vet in Lexington if you're looking for a new vet. They are FANTASTIC!

I had moved away so hadn't been there for years, but when I moved back to the Richmond area I only wanted to take my fur babies to Dr. Walls. The vet I got wasn't him. I had a dog who was 16 years old. I asked for medicine to help him get around more comfortably during his last months, the meds I was prescribed cost $60 a week. I asked for something more affordable but wasn't given that option so I had to go to another vet for it. When it came time for us to say goodbye to him I made an appointment with them. They knew the weight of my boy and I had told them I would need help getting him out of the car. He could no longer walk and weighed over 100 lbs. She made the appointment for late in the afternoon at closing time, and there wasn't anyone strong enough there to help get him out of the car. The assistant and I did it together though, but once we had him off the back seat she dropped her side and I heard a good crack as my puppy hit his head on the pavement. Strike one and very traumatic for him. I filled out the paperwork on the package I wanted , paid, then went into the private room to say goodbye. Throughout it all I could hear them outside laughing, talking loudly and basically forgetting that I was there saying goodbye to my fur baby. I realize it was closing time but a little respect would have been nice. The lady vet came in after about 15 minutes and gave him the shot to make him sleep. She walked back out and the noise and laughter kept on. She came back a few minutes later to give him his final shot and was acting rushed about it. It was already a heartbreaking time for me but they made it so much worse. Strike 2. On the way home I got a notice from my bank for $100 over the package I selected. They had charged me for the most expensive one, even though I had told them 3 times and signed a paper stating which one I chose. Thank goodness for instant notification from my bank of I would have been screwed. It took me months before I could go there and request a talk with Dr. Walls to tell him about my experience and how terrible it was. He was sympathetic but told me that he had sold his clinic to that woman and was only there a little bit. I'm crying as I write this because it's still upsetting to me and I am still so angry at the way we were treated that had to write this yelp to warn people away from this clinic. Third strike and I'm out of there. We were nothing but a cash grab . I have since moved my animals to another vet and am very glad I did.

As I am coming to pick up my dog, an AA lady is leaving with her dog named "B" (changed for privacy.) The receptionist Gwen sees her leave and then proceeds to tell me the price for B's service. I'm sorry what? That's not my dog. She assumed because I'm AA and the lady was AA that we were together. So after she runs outside to catch the lady and comes back in I ask her "did you assume we were together because we are both AA?" She gets a really guilty look on her face and proceeds to say " Oh I'm not racist, I have COLORED friends." Uhhh WHAT??? For 1 I didn't say you were racist (your conciese must have) and 2 is this the 1960's??? Colored umm that's not an acceptable term ma'am. I proceed to tell her that verbiage is really weird and I would just like my bill. The more I sat there the more upset I got. In what world where I am calling myself AA would you think it's acceptable to call me colored? Also to justify your implied prejudice by reassuring me you CANT be racist because you have colored friends. Tell ya what, call your AA friends colored and see how long you are friends after that. So tired of the "I can't be racist I have black friends" mantra. Long story short AVOID "NOT RACIST" Gwen at all costs if you go here. We probably will not be back and will take our decade of patronage with us.

He was seen by a local veterinarian, but had complications to his breathing one night and we rushed him to AAC. The care there was VERY inconsistent. Some of the vets and techs were good and others were not. This inconsistency of care and transfer of information was a huge problem. After a few days of care, they ended up calling us in the middle of the night, put us on hold for 5 minutes where I was just panicking, and then insisted he needed to be euthanized. They also told me they weren't providing basic care they promised like draining his bladder. We rushed there and were hard sold on euthanizing him based on information I later found to be incorrect, if not an outright lie. So now my cat is dead, and I am questioning so much of what happened. After a couple of weeks, I left a clear review voicing my concerns on another review site. Nothing mean. Nothing out of hand. I would hope they'd take my concerns to heart. I must have struck a nerve, because they followed up by sending me a letter that basically said (paraphrasing), "Sorry your cats is dead, but you left a bad review so now you are banned from all of our practices." I've NEVER heard of such behavior from a vet, and I'm still shocked. It feels like the intent was cruelty, and not something you would expect from a vet that truly cares about animal welfare. Go here if you must, but be careful.
