Today my neighbor had a giant oak tree removed by Skip's Tree Service. I watched the entire process from 8AM to 4PM. They have the absolute newest and best equipment available. TJ had a crew of three who were all very polite, personable and clean-cut men. They were extremely efficient and made every move count. TJ Lehmann & his crew went above and beyond today for a Lieutenant from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Department and his family. That family is on vacation right now, and I happen to be house/pet sitting for them. I went over there early this morning (*day after Elsa) to find lots of limbs & debris from all their mature oaks in the yard. So my two youngest daughters & I got to work making a huge pile in the back yard. TJ & his crew went above and beyond as well...by helping us finish up for FREE!! They were working in the neighbor's yard, and came over and picked up the big pile and hauled it away and blew off the Lieutenant's long driveway. It almost brought me to tears!! I have been teaching my daughters how to do acts of service and to always do more than asked, and never expect anything in return! Thanks Guys for "showing" my girls in action. We had 2 - 40ft Pine Trees removed from our front yard and part of an Oak Tree trimmed in the back which was hanging over our yard from the neighbors. TJ and his partner did a fantastic job, it was amazing to watch them. They were very professional and cleaned up everything. Cost was very reasonable considering some of the quotes we got. Skip's Tree Service recently removed two large sycamore trees from the side of my home. The trees were within 8 ft of the house and had large limbs overhanging the roof. One of the trees was 65 ft tall and 24"diameter at the base. The job was done in less than 8 hours including hauling and complete cleanup. Most importantly, there were no mishaps and no damage. Beware low bid tree work! Skip's was not the cheapest, but I was provided with insurance certificates for both property damage and WORKERS COMP. Most all tree services will carry property damage, but they'll tell you that their workers are "independent contractors" and as such, are "self insured" (which means they have no insurance). If a worker is injured on your property and the company has limited assets, you the homeowner are on the hook! So give TJ (the owner) a call. He's prompt, courteous, dependable and works as hard as any man on his crew. read more

I called twice to get an estimate on a tree at a house that is literally 3 minutes from where Skip's Tree Service is located - but no response. Finally I emailed and someone came out a few days later to see the tree. Unfortunately, no one returned my call, email or provided an estimate of any kind. I called once, then emailed the contact there 2-3 times requesting an estimate. No response. They couldn't be closer to my property but couldn't find the time to give me a simple estimate on one tree removal and trimming around a roof. So, one star it is. I had read that this was a problem with them, but I took my chances. I don't question their work - I would have been very pleased to use them. But you can't use a company that does not respond to its customers! read more

We have used Skips (TJ) twice now and loved his work both times. He is busy sometimes and may take a week to do the job, but is a fair priced, cleans up well, and is quick. Today he removed a tree for us and my husband walked out to find he men cleaning dead stuff out of a palm tree as well, no charge! read more

THESE GUYS ROCK!! Had a HUGE oak tree get split from hurricane Irma. called TJ on a Tuesday nite,almost in tears because I was terrified the tree was going to split all the way ,and destroy my neighbor house. He and his crew were at my house by 7 the next morning. By 2 pm, tree and all of its remains were gone. This company is true, easy, honest! They came, gave me an estimate and date ( which was after the weekend) and on a Tuesday. Wasn't sure if they would show up because I've hired others and never heard back! Tuesday morning they were here, right on time! 15 minutes later my two trees were gone, stumps ground out, area completely cleaned! They even took extra wood that I was struggling to rip apart to get rid of and they didn't even bat an eye .. just did it for me! Don't ever waste your time with anyone else! Go with skips! Yesterday we had a large oak tree removed by Skip's tree service. We were so impressed by the work done by the whole crew. They were professional, courteous, reasonably priced and did an excellent job. This was not an easy job either because the tree was 60 ft. high and they had to work between the house and a garage. They cleaned up every bit of debris from the yard and left everything looking so nice. I would definitely recommend this company for any tree service you may need. Great job guys! read more

I highly recommend Skip's Tree Service. TJ was very professional and sincere. He works along with his crew and this impressed me. His two colleagues were very hardworking and very knowledgeable about their work. Of the 3 estimates I was given for this work Skip's Tree Service was the lowest. Even though their price is low don't let this fool you. They work with good equipment and are very experienced.
