Normally I don't try to leave low reviews but no. I had high hopes for this place because it seemed like a good choice for what I needed. I had an appointment time but wasn't seen for about 45 mins after. I've come accustomed to that with office visits these days but it still can be frustrating. The reason for the low review however is because when the doctor came in she asked me what my concerns where and automatically started prescribing medication. I hadn't even had an examination until I countered for her to actually examine and showed her my arm. When people go to the doctors we are going for guidance and check up not to be automatically prescribed medication without being diagnosed. I have been a patient for two years and have seen Dr Rodgers 4 times. When you get her face to face she's great, however I am waiting every time for over 30 minutes. Today after 40 minutes & no sign of when I would get seen. I left today and rescheduled so that I could get to my next appointment because they couldn't advise how long today I would need to wait. Why make an appointment if the doctor never sees you at your appointment time? Every single time, I am not seen near my appointment time. I wish I could bill her for my time. read more

I went to get a skin tag removed. After filling out the forms waited for my turn and then called into the exam room. The assistant and the doctor were very nice. The doctor said it will be only $50 for an injection for numbness and removal however after treatment, I went to pay my $50 but the lady at the counter said it will be $200+. They never told me about the office visit charge for new patients. It's almost like a new patient initiation fee. After asking back and forth they took that amount off - making themselves very pious people that they are not. I will not be going back for any service anymore. read more

It's really unfortunate that I've been here more than 4x and 3x the front desk has been awful to deal with. There are always 2 working, but I've only worked with one every time. She is rude and condescending not just to me, but watching her interact with other customers while I was in the waiting room. This time, I had an issue with updating my insurance because the company sent me a new card with number(same benefits). The billing office called me the day before to get the new number, I missed the call but called back right after. I got voicemail. I hung up and called back about 5 mins later, got voicemail again and this time left a voicemail with my name saying I wanted to give them the number. They never called again. I came in to my appointment in the morning and they told me they never received my voicemail and would have to call and verify benefits. I was the first one in the office that morning, waited almost 30 mins for them to get the insurance straight even though policy didn't change, benefits didn't change. I asked how long it would be and she was extremely rude and told me I was lying because I didn't call yesterday. I had the call log on my phone.‍ finally got to go to the room and by this time she was with other patients, which of course she should have been if I were late, but I had to wait another 20 minutes for the PA to come in. I stopped going because I was getting help with my adult acne and she kept putting me on stronger and stronger things that made my acne worse by killing the barrier or whatever it's called. My skin felt so damaged. Been off the medications she had me on for a month now, the first two weeks I saw SO much healing and improvement in my skin just from coming off the topicals that were so harsh. (For example, when she started me on Retin A, she starts at .05 instead of the lowest dose, and then a couple months later I wasn't having the result she wanted, but was having severe dryness and peeling even after 6 months, she upped me to the .1 which is the strongest I've heard of. My skin got WORSE. On top of mixing that with 1-2 other topicals at a time.) I had literal burns I had to heal. read more

ZERO STARS. I was very dissatisfied with the services I received. I made an appointment for the Allen office. Upon arrival I was told that my appointment had been incorrectly scheduled with the Addison office. I was given the option to come back to the Allen office a few hours later that day. When I returned, I was told that I had to pay for the services in advance. I didn't like this policy. I feel I should pay after the services have been rendered and not before. I asked how much the services would cost. and I paid the price. After the procedure was completed they told me that I owned additional monies which amounted to 50% more than the original price. read more

They have a 15 minute rule. If you are 15 minutes late they cancel your appointment. OK I can live with that but if you have that rule then it applies both ways. I had an appointment at 12:30 pm and at 1:00 pm I had not seen a doctor yet. The nurses and assistants here are terrible. No one came in and apologized to me for being late. I would not recommend this business. The quality of care has declined. The Allen office staff is rude. And when we reported this to Dr. Rodgers only made excuses for her staff. The worse part is I went for a second melange chemical. Because Dr. Rodgers did my mélange years ago and it able helped my skin. But this time my skin looked worse than before the treatment. The treatment cost 890.00 plus I had to purchase subscriptions that didn't work after the peel caused damage to my skin it failed miserably. After the third follow visit with my face looking horrible Dr. Rodgers subscribed more medicine. The anesthician was to follow up but never did. I became discouraged and stopped calling the rude office careless . I lost over a $1000. I went to a beautify supply and bought some fading cream that cost me about 6 dollars. This product worked. Dr. Rodgers care for her patients has dramatically declined. It's all about quantity getting patients in and out. $$$$$$$ read more

Dr. Achtman was amazing, very thorough and professional. Took my nine year old daughter to have plantar warts removed from the bottom of her feet. He gave us different treatment options and he was affordable since we are self pay. We called everywhere to find someone that would see her ASAP and out of at least twenty other offices I called he was the only one who wasn't ripping us off and tried to get her in as early as possible. The wait was less than five minutes and all the staff was very professional. Special thanks to Tonya (nurse) who went out of her way to make sure my daughter was okay. She was able to calm her down in a state of pain and anxiety. They definitely have outshined any dermatologist doctors we have ever seen. Thanks! read more

I have been attending the Skin Specialist of Allen office for two years and I did not see any benefit from them. Also, they charged me a no-show fee even though I canceled the appointment over the phone on 12/5/2020. They informed me they would not remove a $50 fee and were adamant that they would not remove the charge. I have never dealt with a business who treat their customers without respect. I don't write reviews but I will never come back here and will tell other friends I know who attend this place to stop going. read more

Until recently, I had been a patient for over a decade. Dr.R and Donna are amazing! But the office is an unorganized mess. In my most recent visit, the medical assistant who came to take notes didn't listen to a word I said. She shook her head yes, never looked at me and seemed like a confused mess. The PA seemed just as clueless and was prescribing random things. I left feeling so confused and nervous as hell to use anything prescribed, as well as with no prescription I could fill immediately. I had to call the online company (the medical assistant said the company doesn't typically call the patients - ridiculous) and was told by them that my prescription would arrive in 7-10 business days. Seriously? My skin is crazy right now. I just paid $100 for the visit out of pocket and I have to wait 7-10 days? What a joke. They are out of network for me, and even still, I had been a faithful cash pay out of pocket patient for a few years because of the expertise and because the service used to be worth it. Now? Absolutely not. So, I will be wearing my skin irritation for 7-10 business days longer until my prescription arrives. I can't even. I cancelled my next appointment and will be looking for another practice. read more

The service from the actual doctors were great, and I went to this facility for 10+ years, however, I will not be going back after my recent experience. I had issues with the billing department this past year- they are impossible to get a hold of and when I compared what I should have owed per my insurance company vs. what they were billing me for, they overcharged me by $245. I had already tried calling 20+ times and left voicemails to get ahold of their billing department with no avail, so had to bite the bullet. Avoid at all cost! I went here because I suspected I had shingles. The PA took a culture and told me to return in a week. When I returned the PA told me that the lab had let the culture expire so she had no test results. I'm not sure why they never bothered to check on the results. Imagine my shock when I received a bill from the lab. I promptly called the lab to tell them I wasn't paying their bill because they had dropped the ball. The lab told me that the test had been preformed and sent me my results. Come to find out I did have shingles but would never had known thanks to this office. On a secondary note, I could over hear the medical assistants call patients by name on the phone to give test results to them. Obviously they get some lab results in but it seems like a HIPPA violation to do so in an area where all can hear. read more

I've recently moved to the area and was looking for a great dermatologist due to my ongoing hormonal acne. I found Dr. Rogers and she came with a great bonus, her Aesthetician, Babette. I scheduled my first ever micro-needling with Babette. I have a very low pain tolerance and was worried it would be very painful. However, she assured me that she'll take care of me with some numbing cream and it shouldn't hurt. She was right! This was the birth of our relationship. Babette is highly knowledgeable, professional and friendly. She educates you on what to expect and the possible outcomes, and she's not pushy. I've since completed my micro-needling sessions and now onto some acne peel (Actinage). I'm starting to see some great results - without pain. The staff was great and the treatment prescribed made sense BUT the prescriptions were a COMPLETE SCAM. $1,500 worth of cream for two small patches of contact dermatitis is insanity and is why our medical system is a complete and total mess. We were given a tube that equaled of a regular sized toothpaste for five days of treatment. Yes my insurance paid for it but WE are all paying for it in the end. read more

Found this doctor and thought it would be good for my kids to have a doctor who understands African American skin. Even though I requested to be scheduled with the dr and was scheduling weeks out my daughter still saw a PA. My husband and I have difficult schedules with last minute changes all the time. We are still new and have never had a Dr of any kind not wave a no show fee especially when we called hours before the appointment. Then they prescribed a medicine for my 5 year old son for his impetigo and I was bounced around to several different pharmacies only to be told I couldn't get the cream I needed. I called and asked that a generic or more common brand be prescribed and Almost 3 weeks later I get a call from CVS saying a prescription was ready. Mind you this was after I had did the leg work on my own and not only found a pharmacy to prescribe his medicine but for $0 copay. The places they sent me were asking for $160-$200. I have long waits at the old dermatologist but I guess I'll go back until I find a more suitable practice. read more

I've only seen the the nurse, who is great, but I do think it's odd that I've never seen an actual dermatologist. My husband was sent there for excision of a large benign tumor. Post procedure instructions were minimal and generic. That evening when we experienced complications, we could not get anyone to return our repeated messages. On 2 occasions he was notified to come in for his appointments 1 hour early only to sit there and wait an additional hour. On another occasion they actually started to shut down the office forgetting he was in an exam room. Do not trust this practice to anything other than simple acne. read more
