The downsides were: Demanding a swipe of your credit card before signing in even though my company pays. This is a pet hate of mine. The food, although very pretty, was expensive and tiny in the restaurant if you need to walk anywhere, which I did, there are no footpaths outside the hotel leading to the nearest major road. I had to walk in the road or on the wet grass, neither very satisfactory will dragging a wheelie case. The remote for the telly didn't turn it on, just off. The wifi in the room was almost non existent. Other than that fine :-)

The staff a quite friendly and helpful. The hotel hosts quite a few parties and events at Christmas time.

For context, a travel buddy and I opted to board an Aquabus for a quick ride around the bay area only - we figured it would provide some beautiful views of the area and hoped that since it was advertised as a tour, we'd learn a thing or two. The biggest perk during the ride was that I got to spend a relaxing hour or so off of my feet, on the water, enjoying beautiful blue skies during a fall day in Wales. This is admittedly a pretty big perk. But the experience wasn't perfect, sadly. For starters, the boat left a bit later than we were told it would (almost 20 minutes later, in fact) - so it was a good thing my travel buddy and I had already attended our time-sensitive plans in the Bay area that day. Secondly, there really wasn't a lot of information during our "tour". Plus, even when they did try to give you information during the tour/cruise/ride/etc., the recording they occasionally played tended to malfunction. I can't even remember how many times it stopped or repeated itself. It didn't help that we couldn't always hear the recording very clearly, even though we were sitting pretty close to the speakers... So as you've probably guessed, I was ultimately pretty underwhelmed with my Aquabus "tour." I did at least get to enjoy a beautiful ride around the bay. Something tells me that's their primary aim, too. So if that's what you're looking for, that's what I can recommend an Aquabus ride for. But after my experience, I'll remember Aquabus as a sightseeing option only. 2.5 stars from this traveler.

Having said that - if you happen to be in Cardiff Bay of a lovely blue skyed day and are in no particular rush plus you fancy getting from the Bay to the City Centre then there is no better way than this. I did it with my partner and my child and its a lovely way to while away half an hour (I think that's how long it took). There is something timeless about chugging over gently rippling water towards a destination whilst watching a familiar landscape from an unfamiliar angle. Anyhow - if this appeals to you why not hop about they leave pretty regularly and do not cost the earth (it was under £5 for an adult).

I was however pleasantly surprised at this inexpensive alternative to going abroad. We holidayed somewhat off-season so the weather was not great, but the place was fun and lively, with some good children's shows and a small but well-designed play area. It also has a nice pool with slide and jacuzzi. The caravan itself was spotless on arrival, and the whole site was clean and tidy and well maintained throughout. The shop had practically everything and the staff were all very friendly. I did not get the chance to sample the wares in the restaurant, as we decided to cook for ourselves in the caravan, but the chip-shop served up some tasty chips. Locally, the site is a stone's throw away from the beach at Burnham, and is very close to Glastonbury, and the fascinating Wookey Hole caves. It can be easily accessed from the M5 motorway and has a large superstore nearby. I would highly recommend this holiday park and would consider a return visit.

The caravans are set quite close together but it was very quiet - we were never disturbed at night. The supermarket onsite was small but well stocked, although we found it cheaper to buy food at a local supermarket and take it with us. There was some entertainment available and the soft play & pool were both brilliant for entertaining the kids. We could have visited the local attractions but we didn't feel the need to leave the park when everything we needed was there! The beach was rocky, so no good for sandcastles, but it's a very pleasant walk, with lots of rock pools.

Its ideal for families really and has a playground and trampoline and indoor games room. There is a shop and a little place that does simple take away food too. It does accept bookings from groups of youngsters and has a no tolerance attitude towards drunkness and rowdy behavior. Its a beautiful site and while the pitches are a little bit close together you don't have to worry about noise because everyone is so well behaved. The showering block is nice and clean and free too.

While the park was pleasent for the children, the shop worker/owner was a bit of a grinch. Whilst recycling our rubbish and sorting the cans from the bottles my son was yelled at for resting the larger bag on the floor alongside the bin. He wasn't going to leave it there! He was seperating! The piches are described as spacious but I very much disagree. I would say COSY. No where for the children to play football or fly a kite. Electric points are spaced few and far between. We had a 15m lead and still had to go out and buy an extension :-( Toilet block was clean and large and had dishwashing facilities within- but were mega far from the tents (right by the caravans) with very poor lighting for tent people who need a wee after dark. Toilet block has only partial partition walls enabling for you to not only hear the quietest of conversations going to and fro the mens and ladies but also the smells of the loos were quite unbearable while washing my dishes. (they are free unless of course you think the charge was in with your booking fee- would have paid extra for a little privacy) Great location but the site itself isn't the best in our opinion. We wont be back. Despite trying this is not a camp site for children! If you like privacy then scrap this site.... not really enough room to swing a cat!

Forget Disneyland, this is the happiest place on earth!! Perhaps my perspective is skewed as it was…read moremy first visit, my first time in England, and my first time seeing my favorite musical act (Five)!!!! I should mention, my review is for the entire property, not just the caravan site. I visited during the October adults-only Back to the 2000s weekend, 7 October - 10 October 2022. This location is SW of Bristol and not very easy to get to if traveling from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I had to take a flight to Chicago, then to London. From London, it was train to Paddington Station. I missed the coach bus I previously booked out of Victoria's Station so I had to take a train from Paddington Station to Bristol. There have been many rail and bus strikes recently, which resulted in a lack of bus drivers. the bus that was scheduled to take us from Bristol to Tauton wasn't too late. However, we were dropped off in Tauton and told the next bus would pick up for the location. Turns out, that bus went to a different location and we missed it. After 2+ hours in Taunton, a Sommerset bus finally arrived to take us to Minehead. This was truly an adventure of a lifetime!!! Butlin's was like anything I've ever experienced before in the USA. It's amusement park meets water park meets various activities (mini golf/go carts/archery/etc) meets concert festival WITH on site lodging facilities and what I would call an "all inclusive" meal plan (optional), restaurants, arcade, gambling, a sports bar with bowling and 10 pool tables, 2 small grocery stores, and it's across the street from the public beach!! :D There are also larger grocery stores, restaurants, and shops with walking distance of the property. There is a variety of lodging facilities, from single rooms to holiday houses overlooking a pond. Ours was a 2-bedroom suite. One room had a double bed, the other was a single. There was also a living room with 2 couches, a TV, mini-fridge, and everything to make tea or instant coffee. Although it was a part of an older set of chalets, it was still in good condition and clean. All the employees and security personnel were friendly and wanted to talk to us (probably because there has never been guests from Wisconsin, lol). Prices for food and drink around the property was very reasonable, in my opinion. The food was overall good - the dining hall was set up buffet-style and there were SO MANY options. The best food was at The Diner, where we experienced bottomless brunch. The chicken sandwich was fantastic as well as the brisket fries! Highly recommend!! There were 3 beverages that were a part of the "bottomless" option, all were great. I only saw musical acts at the Centre Stage venue, which was quite large with bars on both sides and some high-top table seating in the back. I was very surprised how clean it was each night... especially with the partying the majority of the crowd was partaking in, hahaha. Overall, the Butlin's Minehead experience was AMAZING! It was just a little challenging to get to if you are visiting from America ;) I hope to visit the Bognor Regnis location in the future.

It is very busy during the school holidays and summer. The pool operates on a timed slot basis, and you are given a coloured band which indicates the start and end time of your session. The pool has a decent waterslide, a children's pirate ship play area and a separate toddlers area. There is a jacuzzi type bubble area where you can sit/lie which is joined to the main pool. There are two swimming lanes - sometimes roped off and sometimes not - which are fine for some relaxing swimming - but due to the size and temparature (Very warm) of the pool they are not really suited to serious swimmers. You can sit and watch the swimmers in a seated area, and there is a good size changing village, including family size changing rooms. There are aqua aerobic classes available during the week.
