A talented guy with the warmest heart. Born and raised in Honolulu, he moved out to SF to attend the San Francisco Art Institute over decade ago, he's been an SF local ever since. Salah is a "professional illustrator and live event caricature artist". His customers/clientele ranges from baby's first birthdays, to corporate office events. Bloomingdales was also a regular gig for him, how cool is that?? He also flies out to do events and also is willing to drive out to your location. Unlike other caricature artists, Salah's artwork are created digitally. Customers will see their caricature portrait come alive right before their eyes, stroke by stroke as it happens via the large HD display in front of them. - He then prints out a smaller pic for the customers to take with them as a souvenir. Orders for larger prints are possible as well. - He also does oil-based paintings as well. http://bit.ly/1H3eCUS http://bit.ly/1zs3xaV http://bit.ly/1H3eOn8 This guy has mad skills. He can complete your portrait in as little as under 5 mins! You can see him in action in these videos he posted on his website: http://skillustrationlive.com/ Here's a sample of his other work, of real customers from private parties and/or events http://skillustrationlive.blogspot.com/ http://salahyk.tumblr.com/ Check out his website for more info on booking at http://skillustrationlive.com/ You can also hire him via email, yep just email him your pic of what you want created. My sister lives in Long Beach, so she's emailing him a pic of her new batchild, #MargoBean. I can't wait to see this 'lil pup's portrait! Btw, how cool is my pic?! I asked Salah to do an illustration of my group of 14 people at work for a going away gift for our boss. I have to say, I was so incredibly impressed with his work. The likeness to each individual is absolutely right on. The rest of the group is so excited with the photo, everyone wants a copy! He worked fast, and for a very reasonable price. His communication throughout was very professional and timely as well. I was so impressed with Salah's artistic talent, I am going to ask him to do a photo of my husband and son for Father's day! Thankfully, Salah was available and he proved to be a huge hit! Other family members offered to pay him to stay longer at the venue. His work is amazing, accurate, and fun! Salah is a hidden gem and I'm so glad I found him. Will defiantly contact again for future events. read more

I would like to recommend Sketch Playground. I was hosting my company's annual corporate outing and came across him via Yelp. He responded so fast and was confirmed the next day. He showed up early and was great with all my guests (90 guests). We had everyone get one picture done and then at the end they could go back for more. The timing was perfect and watching your friends and coworkers get their pictures drawn is always a good time. He was very interested in learning what everyone did for my company. He was really great and i cant wait to have him for our next event! read more

Our caricature artist Kiko was so much fun to at the event. She had a line but it was worth it. She did amazing color caricature art of me and my girlfriend, making us look fun but not in that self-conscious way I sometimes get from other caricatures. She was also very nice. Hope to have her at another event. read more

Friendly people doing great digital caricatures. I would recommend them for an event.

I got married last weekend and we hired Sketch Playground to do digital caricatures for our guest as our wedding favors. I have to say they were by far the highlight of the party, everyone raved over how awesome it was. The drawings are amazing and so fun!! We originally had saw them at a bridal fair in Santa Clara and my now husband loved the idea. They even were able to personalize each caricature with our name and wedding date and wedding colors at the bottom. Kiko is very responsive and so easy to work with. I would definitely recommend them for any party/event! read more

I use Yelp a lot but never do reviews until now. We picked Salah as we wanted to do something different from the standard photo-booth at our wedding reception. We decided to go with a caricaturist and combed thru yelp and other sites to see who we liked. I picked my top three and from that my husband thought Salah's work was the best so we hired him! It was a great choice as everyone loved having a caricature done and it was very entertaining for the other guests to be able to watch him work from the larger screen. Plus they had an artwork to take home with them! My only tip is that if you have a larger party/event, you might need more than one artist since everyone will want one done. read more

We had Salah and Kiko at our company holiday party. They were both very personable and professional. They were on time, set-up and ready to go. Both of them were very good with working with people who were starting to get a little tipsy (ha). They both have a sweetness to the quality of their artwork which is really, very nice. There was nothing sarcastic or mean spirited in their caricatures. They were very appreciated and well received. Many of our employees said how fun it was to have them with us for our party. Great experience---Thank you Salah and Kiko! read more

We had Salah at our wedding and everyone loved him! Salah's drawings are spot on for all our guests. There are some artists out there that make people look evil or just plain wrong, not Salah though. My friends and I still look at his drawings and laugh at how it looks like us. Aside from being so talented, he has a great personality! He was so great that a few of my friends asked for his contact info to see if he can be at their weddings. Throughout the night, I heard from the guests how easy going he is and he was nice enough to draw a caricature of me and my husband based on a picture we gave to him because we didn't have time during the wedding to get in done in person. Next time there's another event, I would definitely see if he's available again. read more

We hired Kiko to draw caricatures at my kid's birthday party. I had done prior research on local caricature artists and I thought Kiko had the best hand. Her ability to draw in digital format was an even bigger plus. I knew my teen kid and his friends would love emailing, texting, and pasting their images everywhere. As an architect, I tend to have high expectations when it comes to art and must say that I was not disappointed. She was amazing! She has a great talent in drawing and was very keen at capturing everyone's facial expressions and personalities. Kiko even did a great job with one the kids who had to leave early and she drew her picture from a photograph. On top of that, she was great with the kids. I highly recommend her! read more

Salah is amazingly talented and such fun to watch as he does his magic for kids and for adults alike. We had Salah some to my daughter's 11th bday party. The girls were so mesmerized by watching Salah create that they sat quietly for quite some time as they waited for their turn...a miracle when 25 11 years are involved. We are now thinking of having him at both office and school parties. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

We hired Salah to commemorate/entertain at our 50th Birthday party for about 85 people. He was a tremendous hit. Great artistic talent and friendly personality but also his technique/technology was new and fascinating to the group. His business approach was fair and he did exactly what he said he would do (rare these days). Fantastic combination of old school artistic skill and new world techniques. I highly recommend him and will no doubt hire hima for future events. Really really cool. read more
