Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty place! But it smells like drugs,and the floors smell like there is some dead body underneath. The roller skates were even worse, the skates were pealing and then with barely any support. When my daughter was skating, she complained about the skates to me 23 times. This place is the worst! It's dirty and the people running it are a bunch of air heads. The place was empty on a Saturday afternoon. And I hope you like hip hop cause that's all they played. Like two different songs over and over again. No verity in the music. They also treat the adults like their kids. I was skating with my baseball cap on and a guy in a funky smelling referee shirt told me I wasn't aloud to skate with my hat on. I asked him why and he said "because the kids knock the hats off each other." I told him " well I'm not a kid". Well I guess he couldn't understand that logic and got mad at me. I find in ridiculous that they make grown people follow a stupid dress code because of adolescence kids. Ever go skating in the 80's? Want to relive that experience? Then come to skate away and relief it cuz it's exactly how it was back then. This place has not changed in 40 years. The value is good and the people are friendly. There is a weird "smell" and the place seems dirty. An area by the long pic nic tables is used for storage and just looks unkept. Played roller hockey here many times while going to school in the area. It's your typical wood-floored, concrete-walled, middle school birthday party rink complete with the outdated arcade games lining the walls. When the lights are fully on, it's still a little dark and tough to see the puck. Otherwise, the rink is a decent rink. read more

My First and last time here. I give it 2 stars because the wood floor to skate on is in good condition and the rudish staff try to keep things under control with some rules. The snack bar area was fully stocked and running well. The staff doesn't smile but they do have manners. All food must stay in that area. The birthday parties going on were also in this area. Definitely Bring your own skates. The very unpleasant and rude man at the rental desk doesn't look at the condition of the skates before he hands them out. On top of the bad attitude the skates I was handed had one of the eyelets completely ripped out. The laces on the other foot no longer had the plastic tips, on the very thin frail laces, in order to be able to lace all the way to the top for ankle support. When I brought them back asking for better skates because these were falling apart the response was they are 40 years old. The next pair i got was functional. Not sure what I was supposed to do with that information. Paying customers should have a decent pair of rental skates. He also gave my aunt a mens size in place of a womans size which is great but didn't mention it (all it takes is 2 seconds). When my aunt reiterated the size, he let her know with his nasty way about him as if she should've known. Even when the lights are on for announcements it's still dim in there. The bathroom stalls have no locks, barely any space, the garbadge cans are on the back of the tank, and if you are 6 feet tall your knees will hit the door. Strangely the rest of the bathroom is big. The place looks very old. There is no gum chewing in the building even if you are not skating. There is no backward skating. The young ref with the black and white shirt with a whistle stopped a dad whom was carefully skating backwards helping his child but he didn't say a word to another customer that was constantly skating back wards, turning, skating fast, and weaving through all the kids that were present. It does feel like you are in the 80's, not a bad thing just wish the place was better kept. An hour into being there everyone was pulled off the floor for a limbo session and for announecement of the rules. Limbo is cool for those that like it and if you don't you have to wait it out. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. I was very surprised to see the parking lot was packed by 12:57pm on a sunday and they open at 1pm. The set up of the place is uncomfortable because as soon as you pay at the door when you walk into the large area if there is a long line at the rental desk that is what you are walking into plus on the way to the renta desk there is a sitting area. If you already have your skates just to get them on you have to get through that long line to get over to the benches. The longer side of the rink where most people enter is also taken over by the line. Parents/non skaters are watching from there as well. read more

The price is cheap for a Saturday skate and you get what you pay for. Rude staff members and crappy rentals... I spent about an hour here during two simultaneous children's birthday parties (neither of which I was attending) needless to say there were kids everywhere, so it makes it a nice place for your children, but even with a hundred kids skating around cutting in and out and falling over at random instances, I almost ran into the referee three times as often as any kid got in my way, the referee just stopped dead on a dime and I had to fall to avoid tackling the man. Overall I give skate away Whitehall a two star rating, and skate away gave me a big blister on my heel from there rentals. read more

This place it's ok, my family and I always go there almost every Saturday, butI had my daughter's birthday party there, the kids apparently had fun, the adults felt comfortable, the food was ok, and the birthday coordinator or the person that was helping us was very friendly. But management was awful, i felt that I was mistreated by the manager. To schedule the birthday party I had to send an email, I sent it with a very polite message, asking if the date I wanted was available and they reply back to me just saying "how old is your daughter gonna be". They never answered my question, I replay back to them and asked "if that made any difference" they explain why they asked, and then they told me that the date and time I wanted was available. Then I went in to make the $50 deposit and again the manager told me that, the date and time I wanted was not available, then after she complains she said it was available so I separated it. I said that I will have in between 14 and 20 kids but that I wasn't sure because I had people coming from 2hrs away from this area. Then with an attitude she said "well if you have more then we need to know because a deposit of $100 has to be made" I understood that, but I wasn't sure and also it was not going to be a problem. Then when she called to confirm the event, I was at work so I called her the next day. She want available so I talk to somebody else, that person asked me how many people I have and i clearly said "until now only 12 people had confirmed, but if more kids come to the event, would that be ok?" She said "yeah, of course that's not a problem" well the day of the event I had 25 kids total, because more people from the other side of the family came over that didn't confirmed. So during the parent I took one of the parents to the entrances window to pay for his skates, the manager was really mad and again with an attitude told me " now how did you come up with 25 kids out of no where without telling us?" I said the same thing I said to the other person when I called two days before the event, and she said "well I feel bad for my employees because now they have to deal with your event plus the snack bar plus the rest of the people" I was surprised, I felt miss treated and really bad because she said it in front of one of my guests and other people there, and why would they tell me that if was ok if other kids come over if it was not! Then she went on and said "oh I have had other event that one or two kids don't confirmed but not the double of the number" I just try to explain very politely because I am an educated person and didn't want to disrespect her. I just walked away and felt bad for the rest of the night she ruin my mood that night. If you have a business you have to be prepared for the worst, and why wouldnt you specify on the advertisement how many kids can you bring, and not that extra kids would be a different amount if you I are not prepared for it. I can't predict why people confirm for an event and why other people doesn't, so business can't just relay on that, if you didn't want me to have my event there you would've said it since the beginning. I have had bday parties at other places like Freefall, Skyzone, Skateaway in Bethlehem, and other places where kids that didn't confirmed show up and I just paid for them and that's it. I don't understand why she was having such attitude with me. At the end the birthday coordinator or the person helping me, apologized to me because she was busy at the snack bar and couldn't be there for me the whole time and I said that it was ok, I that I understood. In conclusion that was my experience and I was surprised because I have never had a similar experience in any other places. It was my daughter's bday party and I just wanted her to have fun and make my guests feel comfortable and happy. Thanks Angie for all your help! read more
