Where do I even start. What a BLAST! We had my 7 year olds bday here last weekend and the guests were 6-9 years old (plus a few even younger siblings). Our party host Sha'Lisia was amazing right from the start. So welcoming and great communication. The value is incredible- especially when you compare it to other kid-party options in the area. We skated for an hour, played laser tag and then came back to the party room for pizza/ice cream (included) and cake. Our host had it all set up so the kids could immediately eat- which was such a treat for me to not have to do! We just got to enjoy the party! There's a huge play structure that the kids LOVED and even a mini skating rink for the littles. All of our guests had a blast and several went home to order skates. For the past 10+ years my husband and I have made a goal to skate in each state at least one time. I loved this trip because I am from Louisiana!! This is one of the top skating rinks in Louisiana. The skate floor was blue painted not the real wood. The floor I would have to say was clean and classy. I was able to preform axels, lifts, and freestyle dancing without any bumps on the floor. The concession area was very busy but clean. If you do not like skating, there is no problem. This modern roller-skating rink has laser tag, rock wall climbing & a gaming arcade. So my family and I went to Skate Galaxy after Christmas as a family outing with the kiddos. The staff was sub par to say the least. I was cheery and greeted the young lady in the entrance and I received a very dry "are you skating?" Next I went to get skates and I had to turn one shoe in.... We had little kids with us and asked if they had the little walkers that kids could use and was told no....... I went to the concession stand and there was one young lady working. I stood at the counter for about 2-3 min and she never said anything. She was fixing nachos but she didn't even acknowledge me. I walked away. I went back and there was someone with "manager" on the back of her shirt. She begin to assist the young lady but was just as dry. The nachos were really good. There was a race and the kids that won received a small cup I mean the size of a condiment cup with frozen Sprite with skittles in in. Come one. How about an Icee or something for the kids. Overall the place could use some sprucing up. It can use some paint and there were spots of carpet that didn't match. To say this is one of the only skating ranks in Baton Rouge, you would think it would be much better. They would benefit from training the young kids that work there. I've been going here practically every week since I moved to Baton Rouge in 2013, and haven't stopped since. Some weeks it would be back to back days non-stop. So you could say I have some experience with this place, spite my age. (Also I decided to write a more UPDATED review since a lot of the reviews are from 2020, with the exception of 1 or 2.) To start off, this place isn't the nicest visually. If your just here to skate, or to bring your kids and enjoy the playground have at it. Not to mention the pretty big laser tag room they have as well, that I feel not many people know about. This place has been open well over a decade, and it doesn't make it any better that the government just decides not to fund places like these, leaving the facility to souly live off of people coming there. As well as covid tanking the amount of people they can have their at a certain time, you can say that they really cant renovate as much as I'm sure they want to. They have some rundown places, and I can agree that the arcade could definitely use a revamp, but if your complaining about a place that has a run down arcade, but you only came there to skate? I'd suggest going to Main event. The skate floor is very well kept together though, and I couldn't really say anything about it. Its by far the smoothest surface I can skate on. The rental skates are kind of bad I can agree with that. I doubt the get new ones, as to why I suggest everyone that goes to buy even a cheap pair of skates if you plan on going their more than just one time. Moving away from that, the staff and management as a whole are nice people. They can help you with anything you are looking for, and they don't take foolishness to lightly. For an example, in the past 2 years, they've added 3 security guards and you now get your bags checked before you walk into the facility. To say they don't care about the people they house in there, is definitely a stretch. They care about your safety just as much as you do yours. The time it takes to get into the place does depend on what day of the week you go, and when you get there. Me personally, I can only talk about Friday - Sunday as that is the only days I've ever gone. To start off with Friday, they are open from 7:00P.M. - 10:00P.M. They are pretty packed on Friday nights, as a lot of teens go there on Fridays. But, if you get there 15 - 30 minutes before they open, you should be the line. So instead of waiting 30 minutes after they open to get in, you would only wait 30 minutes before they open, making sure you get the most out of your skating time. Now with Saturdays its a little different as they open, close, then open back up again following the Covid-19 procedures. They open from 1:00P.M. - 4:00P.M. and then close for an hour, and open back up from 5:00P.M. - 8:00P.M. Now if you are wanting to get a spot for Saturday, you won't have to worry when it comes to the 1:00P.M. - 4:00P.M. times, as its moderately low in capacity at this time. The only times you have to worry about is the 5:00P.M. - 8:00P.M. sessions. This is there most packed sessions out of the 4 days they are open a week, and you definitely want to get there 30 minutes before they open minimum to secure yourself a spot in line. Other than that, Sundays aren't packed, and its mostly families that go on Sundays. But if your looking to have a fun time and possibly meet some people, definitely go on a Friday or Saturday night. Now as I hear some people have a problem with the speed skaters, and are concerned for the safety of not only themselves but other children. Now I'm going to be 100% transparent and say this is there biggest safety issue. As me myself being a speed skater, I have hit countless people, and have been hit by other people as well. I've ran into walls going faster than you could imagine, but thankfully walked away. One thing I can say on behalf of the speed skaters, is that we do care for the people we skate around. If we hit someone, I can guarantee we won't just leave you there on the floor. 9 times out of 10 we would turn back around, apologize and help you up, as we don't like to just bully people to the floor because we flew past them going faster than they are. Keeping that in mind, the speed skaters are Skate Galaxies most loyal customers. So for them to just completely take the fun out of our skating, and or kick us out would definitely damage their image. I'm also not saying that what speed skaters do is 100% okay either, I do believe we take things to the next extreme when it comes to "having fun" at the skating rink. We swerve in and out of people, jump over people, going 15+MPH etc etc. I will say on behalf of my self and others, we truly do care about you guys and the ones around us, and we take precautions every time we touch the skate floor. I tried to call and pay over the phone so I could make sure me and my sister had a spot before they reach they limit and the guy the answered the phone would not let us he just said come on and when I got there I could not get in cuz they reached they limit. So I called and tried to tell the manger to see if we could come in because we tried to order over the phone and al he said was he sorry he can't help me. I'm only rating it 3 stars cause overall service is bad. but as someone who doesn't work and goes with friends prices are great. but skates are in horrible shape and hurt your feet the only reason I still go here is because it is the cheapest and closest place to where I live. last time I went my mom got severely injured because of the speed skaters that weave in and out between people. she sprained her wrist and messed up her back. My little brother got his hand ran over by one of the speed skaters also. another thing was that when we got there our bags were searched and we were scanned with a metal detector. this used to be a really good place to go but overall now its not and not to mention all of the tables in the food court were sticky and the bathrooms smelled horrible. read more

This establishment needs a whole new makeover. Everything seems to be falling apart. I did like that they had a huge play place for kids with their own little roller skating area wrapped around it. The pretzel was over cooked and the popcorn was stale. I asked if I could just get a cup of water and ice and they told me I had to pay $3.50 for a bottle. I'm pretty sure we spent more money on drinks then food. The actual rink is a decent size but they don't have anything to help smaller children. "Skating fun for the whole family". After going to another skating rink in town, I was able to make a comparison. Skate Galaxy is in a prime location in Baton Rouge, which results in a very busy skate facility on and inevitably shrinks the rink size. My husband and I went for a date night skate night and were not all that impressed, especially because we had something else to compare it to. First off, the rink is not slick enough, which lead to some very uncomfortable skating. Second of all, the skates seemed a tad bit old, so that also lead to even more discomfort. Lastly, this place was grungy and needs a major interior overhaul! The rink is not large enough to hold that many skaters. On a busy night, you will get trampled by some speed skaters that share the rink with you. So, for those of you who are truly amateur skaters, you need to watch your back! As for now, I will be returning to the other skating rink in town even though it is a bit far removed from this one. Price comparison = Skate Galaxy is $7 to skate + $3 to rent skates. Competing skating rink = $6 for skating and includes skate rental ($2 extra if you want in-line skates). So, I urge you to look at other skating rink in town before coming to Skate Galaxy. read more

Upside to this business is that it is clean, organized and their monthly schedule is up to date. We celebrated my niece's 10th birthday party at this facility. The skating rink and laser tag are both functional and the music variety was substantial. The staff appeared to be still learning the ropes as our party host wasn't familiar with all of the amenities of the ultimate party package purchased. The host accommodated five adults, party parents, who desired to skate and the kids certainly enjoyed laser tag and time in the rink We purchased our own cake and the skating rink provided bluebell ice cream cups for the kids. The pizza was ordered from Papa Johns and there was enough for both the kids and the adults to enjoy. Everything went ok, for the most part, until after we were asked to close out the tab. During the party, we interacted with a young lady who served as our party host and then, once we paid in full, we were rudely told to exit the party room by a man with whom we hadn't seen throughout the duration of the party. Our reservation period was from 7-10 pm (the last party slot for the day) and had just expired when we were rudely approached and told to vacate the room. This was particularly unprofessional given that the guests in the room were preparing their kids together to leave. Why couldn't we have simply been informed that we needed to vacate the party room as soon as possible to allow the parents time to prepare the kids to leave? As the name suggest, this is a skating rink. What it doesn't tell you, is that it is a skating rink with a cover charge. A $7 cover charge, per person, children included. I'll let that sink in for a second. Thats right, to walk in the door here is $7, other activities inside are extra. I don't know about you, but thats the worst deal I've heard in a while. Hell, most bars don't even have that high of a cover. Granted there arent many other places to skate in BR, but I sure as hell won't be going here.
