I'm not very good at expressing my feelings in this format but i'll it give my best.
To give it some background i was starving after playing hours of football and went home to find i had nothing edible in my kitchen. So i was forced into ordering a takeaway. I went for a Chinese because i knew some of their food is low fat (compared to other takeaways) and low calories.
I ordered Chicken Chow Mein and Roast duck chop Suey.
Got the food after a confused talk with the delivery man. Opened up both boxes and couldn't tell one from the other. Both were covered in this brown sauce, which to be fair is reasonably tasty but thats where the positives end. It had the usual vegtables like water chestnuts and carrots but then it also included broccoli, cabbage and then some unidentifitable white vegtable which at some point in it's life might of tasted something. I like vegtables but there were two main problems with them. First of all the choice, why brocooli and cabbage? I've never had that in a Chinese before. It's usually onions and peppers. I expected a Chinese not the vegtable from a roast dinner, thats why you buy a Chinese you want something different. Secondly, they were boiled to a mushy agony. Every drop of taste was systematically drained in a boiling pot of water which had, presuembly, been boiling forever. So a bad choice of veg and then they were cooked into a tasteless mush. But thats not the worst bit:
The chicken was not fully cooked. The larger parts had a light pink in the middle. Now, I'm no stranger to a rare steak but undercooked chicken can have salmonella in it and that will give you a horrific illness for days. How did the chief let this dish go out? Do they not care? So after avoiding any of the chicken (i've had food poisoning before and NEVER again) i choked down a few so-called vegtables and ate the noodles which was one of the only good thing in the chicken chow mein.
I carefully eyed the Roast Duck Chopy Suey and decided against it. It had the same brown sauce and the same vegtables, it lacked the noodles and instead of chicken: duck. I'd rather eat my decaying bread then this!
In Conclusion:
1) Vegtables were overcooked and not the right veg for the dish,
2) The chicken was undercooked. I hope the few pieces i ate won't strike me down in the morning.
My recommendation: DO NOT GO. EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE. THIS IS A TERRIBLE RESTERAUNT. SAVE YOUR MONEY, TASTEBUDS AND HEALTH. read more
