There are no pictures from La Nasa. And that's because it's completely dark. Yep, you can barely…read moresee inside this indoors/outdoors club. While Lazy Jacks down the way plays basketball games and pumps US music, La Nasa is much more autentico. Locals gather here and they play classic Puerto Rican party jams. We grabbed some drinks (they have the seemingly ubiquitous Don Q Pina Coladas) and watched people dance some version of the salsa. The atmosphere felt a lot more like what we were looking for -- right on the beach, Spanish speaking only, something that's been around for locals forever. Beware the rickety stairs on the way down to the beach. We almost had serious injury there due to the one spinning step. And I'd skip the $1jello shots just on principle. We really enjoyed the juxtaposition of the really American focused bar down the way and this OG spot. Drop in here, grab a bev, enjoy the dark water and the big sky at night.

The old-school Caribbean vibe is thick as algae at La Nasa…read more Esperanza itself is only one busy street with 7 or 8 restaurants on it, and La Nasa is the bar at the end that's pumping out PR's favorite party tunes from their covered dance floor that looks over the sea. The local beer, Medalla, is $1.50. Or you can be brave and try one of the many tropical drinks listed on the board behind the bar. We got the "Biobay" for $6 each, and to me it tasted like $12 worth of booze (or at least that's was a super-boozy mix drink can cost in Chicago). We promptly spent our savings on the horse roulette game that everyone was playing. With a limit of two dollars per bet, your money won't run away too fast, and you might as well play because this is, quite literally, the only game in town. We were there a little early in the evening and saw a lot of people dancing the merengue. I'm guessing the dance floor only picks up as the night goes on. My friend commented that the glorious part of the establishment was that it felt more like a family place than a bar - old and young age groups were represented on the floor and on the tables out front. For me, this was definitely a highlight of my trip to Puerto Rico, and I plan to come back with my boyfriend soon to get on that dance floor.

I ordered the Cowboy Burger and requested it medium, but it came out well done. That seems to be fairly common from what I've experienced so far in Puerto Rico, so it wasn't a major issue. My husband had the Americana Breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. The other couple with us both ordered the ham and cheese croissant and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. In fact, everyone in our group is already talking about coming back before we leave! The restaurant is very cute inside, with a welcoming atmosphere and a full bar. They also offer brunch, lunch and dinner, and outdoor seating, making it a great option any time of day. This was a wonderful find, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal and a pleasant dining experience.

The menu is expansive and has lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I got the Keep Calm Colada smoothie, which was so refreshing and perfectly sweet! We started with the Vegan Sampler and it was delicious! The hummus was super fresh. For my main, I ordered the Classic Mofongo with garlic cream and a black bean patty. You could tell that everything was made in house. It was unbelievably flavorful and very filling. Highly recommend!

She automatically gave us the large reusable cups and then we realized there were a cheaper options on the house cups, we weren't offered. 2) There was only one waitress and she was either passing by without checking on us or was no where near by or hard to spot. Because of this we went straight up to the counter to ask for the missing items, and the person hand in items, gave then to us and then said: "Next time go ask your waitress" Seriously? Is this how you are suppose to treat and respond to clients? Strongly suggest some training on customer service and proper etiquette responses. Overall ambience not bad but music could be on the lower volume side a bit.

This was the best burger that I have had in Puerto Rico, and service and ambiance were impeccable. Although you order at the register and get (loudly) called for pickup at the counter, attendants roam the floor checking on your needs and satisfaction. The creation that I chose was on the board only as a 1/2 pounder. I asked if I could get it as a 1/3 lb. and they were totally accommodating. A large selection of condiments and a free produce bar round up the creative experience. I am tempted to slice half a star for the soda machines where both iced tea dispensers poured watered down drinks. Maybe that is why refills are free. Lose a full star if it happens next time . . .
