He really took the time to talk with us and ensure we understood the general rules of driving in Italy. Wonderful experience - would recommend coming here for all rental car needs!
I am glad that I have booked the rental car for my next trip to Italy with Maggiore…read more I am scheduled to arrive at Bologna airport at 11.10 pm. Since the airport office of Maggiore is 'only' open until midnight, I sent them an email to find out whether it would be possible to pick up the car later in case the flight is delayed. A few hours later, I received this helpful email reply: "Please, add the flight number to your reservation if you still haven't done so [I have] and we will wait for you maximum until 2 am." This is great service which isn't a given even in 2017!

"We don't have any cars and I can't help you" you can return and check later at 2:30pm "we are closed now for lunch" so we sit on steps for hours and at 3pm lady says sorry no car go to next city two hours away and they should have a car there ... seriously !??? Hertz you suck balls this will be a formal complaint and will go on to all friends and family. Stay away from this hellhole if you value your time and sanity.

How about the line reading "Premium Station Surcharge" another $69.94, I picked the car up at the Bologna airport! it goes on and and on. Another line reading "Assistance Service Fee" for $32.48, and "Cross Border Fee" for $40.00, I didn't CROSS ANY BORDER!!!!!!!! There's more! A line reading "Customer Choice" for $68.84, I booked a car for 4 people with luggage, we ended up being only 3 people, if anything, we took a less expensive vehicle???? Shame on you Europcar!!!!!!

I got the best price via cartrawler website. They were the cheapest for the weekend I visited but for sure great service. Smiling and gentle assistant at the desk who also gave me the option between different cars. They do not give u the car keys right away, when you are at the parking lot you have a second stop to do, quite fast, to pick them up and get to the car. Among the different ones I have used in Bologna, this had been the best rental so far. Way better than Avis which has always long waiting. My FIAT Panda was brand new, clean and did it perfectly for me.

Being that we were already in town, I figured it would be easiest to just pick up the car at this location - - and I was right. Technically this location is just across the street from the Stazione Centrale. You go to this office to "check-in" and complete the paperwork. Then you walk approx 70m away to collect your car in a parking garage. We had reserved an "intermediate" (I believe) - and ended up with a cute Fiat Bravo. (Think VW Golf 4 door - but a bit extended.) Staff was friendly; super easy to get the car. And I dropped off at the same garage location. Overall easy deal - - still just waiting for my credit card to get the final bill though. (Hopefully that goes through just as easily - cause "technically" no one was there to officially check me in.) I would rent from here again with future travel to Bologna. Also, it's relatively easy to get onto the autostrada. Advice: Ask for a Bologna map. That was SUPER helpful!

Long story short they tried to have us rent a vehicle that would not fit 2 people plus luggage let only 6. We ended up going to a local spot that provided us with 2 cars and was hassle free.

We returned to the agency office to ask why we had not been told. Their response was that we could rent it a day earlier or could go to Pisa. Neither was an option. OK Everybody I really want this to be shared with everyone you know. We picked up a car in Milan…read moreItaly I had a reservation and the amount was $1060. I had intended to use my visa that had a rental car coverage and refused the coverage from Budget/Avis. When I got to the counter the woman behind it told me that Italy did not allow you to use rental car insurance from your Visa. Which was an outright lie and of course I didn't know it at the time. So I accepted insurance which raised the bill by $700. When I turned the car in in Verona I was told by the agent there but that wasn't true and that if I were to rent a car from them and wanted to use my rental car coverage on my Visa, that was between me and my bank. I was livid. A car that was supposed to cost us $1060 cost us $1700. The agent in Verona made €100 adjustment but that was the best she could do. When I picked up a car in Inverness also Budget/Avis as I had made these reservations at home I would never have gone to them again. The agent there also told me that wasn't true and that she had never heard of such a thing. I used my visa coverage there and that is documented as well .On my return home I contacted Budget /Avis With a well documented complaint and said I wanted the money refunded that I fraudulently "was talked into" By a lie! I have gotten absolutely nowhere. They send me a copy of the rental agreement with the insurance signed. Of course it was ,that is not the issue. The issue is coercion and fraud by their agent in Milan to Out right lie. I am still livid and I am not done. I am going to look into small claims court to cause nothing but a headache more than likely to that company, but I am not going to just let this go. The moral of the story is, do not use budget or Avis for rental cars. They do not honor their customers or back them up when an employee has fraudulently given information that cost the customer considerably more money than it should have.
