We started renting sixt cars for many years when visiting in Europe. Never had any problems with their vehicles nor any other reason to contact them. In other words, never a problem.
Today the remote key (the transponder key in Volvo parlance) stopped working. So the car no longer locks unless unless one peels the metal reserve key out of the transponder key. Unlike with other cars, this is a messy process and I broke my finger nails in the process.
Further, unlike with other cars, I was unable to find a way to get at the batterie(s), which probably is the only, easily remediable issue.
Since I was unable to fix the key myself, I tried to call SIXT using their number on their documents as well as those on the internet. After trying unsuccessfully for about two hours calling all the numbers I obtained, including their main number which charges a toll, I am sitting here with an unlocked car in an increasingly unsafe (diverse) country, with the local SIXT station closed at 19:00 hrs, my relationship with SiXT will end upon expiration of the current contract.
My experience at the pickup point on our arrival here was also disappointing. The people were not domestics and while they tried hard, smiles don't make up for the many mistakes on the contract documents.
Thankfully, my issue is not a major one involving health or life--fortunately. But with the pervasive incompetence of the operation I hope that other rental firms will be a bit more competent.
