Love coming to six flags! I always arrive early so parking is easy and I can usually get a spot close to the front with no issues. Since I have a season pass, getting into the park is always quick and smooth. I usually go with my 3-year-old daughter, and she absolutely loves the kids sections. The lines are never too long, which makes the whole experience great for her! Face painting is about $30 which is a bit pricey but that's what is expected at a park like this. Always a good time. Other than the one time I visited on a random Saturday, there's never really a line to get in. Security is pretty good about moving it along. The only complaint my kids have is that the rides stop working frequently which causes them to get off the lines after waiting long times and is really frustrating for them. Visited six flags one more time before the year ended on a warmer than usual Saturday and I really enjoyed the ability to go on 6 different rides in less than 2 hours. The wait times for rides were mostly non existent and the meatball sandwich was yum (I was also pretty darn hungry). I was surprised by skull mountain, that ride is definitely not worth the wait but luckily there was no wait so I gave it a try and it was super underwhelming. Overall I appreciate this amusement park for staying open all these years. It's just something nice to do thats only an hour drive away and worth a few visits if you get the season pass. read more

So I've bought two Platinum season pass for 2025 and I probably won't do it again. There're just too many great places to visit in Jersey or nearby NYC, even malls are now building kart courses and whatnot. I've had a few problems on my first visit last year, including a staff member who was very rude to us and a meal incident where they were dealing with some Karen while forcing all the rest of us in line to wait hungry 40 minutes for pizza, and then the meal plan stopped working when they were taking orders again (why even make us wait then). When I complained and was directed to their "vip support", they didn't so much to resolve this or improve our experience. For vip support, they do not seem to know how to talk to people, and the person who addressed me was kind of cold and condescending. They ultimately offered me 2 guest passes, but they're not actually tickets, meaning I would have to physically get in line with my guest and get that set up on that day, and you know the lines here are terrible and a huge waste of time (so being punished again!). Furthermore, I have 2 platinum season passes, so this does nothing for me. Another thing is that the season dining pass turned out to not be worth it. 4 hours between meals is unreasonable and other competitors usually keep the cool down to 3 hours at most, and it's not like the food here is great (generic pizza, hot dogs, burgers), I mean it's not comparable to dining at universal or disney anyway. And after our treatment here, I didn't even get to visit as much as I like, but it is what it is. One last tip, there seems to be at least one seat in the Joker ride that's super worn out, loose, and saggy, and it banged me around good. My head and body was hurting for 3 days and it was just that one time, so be careful! The seat was closer to the entering side from the line so good luck. Only reason why I do give it another star is because they seem to hire local folks who are disabled. Whoever's in charge of hiring here, props to them, because people do notice things like that. read more

The Wild Safari experience has changed a lot since I last visited that section! Now you ride in an open truck/van seated with 20 or so others and the staff takes care of the trip. I went on a busy day, so the wait was around 2 hours long but I've heard that's not typical and I believe that as it was Easter weekend. Overall, it was a nice experience, good for children and adults to enjoy. Our speaker made jokes along the way which kept it a bit more entertaining for the adults as well. There were more animals than I expected, and we had great views on both sides of the vehicle the entire time. There wasn't a moment when we couldn't spot an animal once the tour began! I was also happy to see that most of the animals appeared healthy and had space to roam around. However, I do wish a few of the larger animals like the elephants had more space as it was sad to see some of the larger animals in smaller enclosures. read more

WORST. DAY. EVER. I am the mother of 5, and promised 11 year old I would take her to Six Flags on November 30, today, and I have been so disappointed in six flags. They promised they would be open today, as it is their last day being openned. (Bought season pass. Said they would be open until January 2026, but the park decided to be open until November 2025.) This morning, the day of going to the park, I checked the Six Flags app. Despite them claiming they would be open through bad weather and rain, they decided the close the park. ON THEIR LAST DAY OPEN. 11 year old went to her room and would not stop crying. Kept saying how disappointed she was and how she had nothing else planned. I took work off, so I won't get paid today. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience dealing with Six Flags Great Adventure. I had tickets and a meal plan from last season that went unused due to scheduling conflicts. Come to find out, they expired in December--and the park refuses to honor them or offer any type of credit. Considering ticket prices are basically the same this year (literally only a couple dollars difference), the lack of flexibility is honestly ridiculous. What makes it worse is that the overall park experience does not justify the cost. Parking is outrageously expensive--on par with major theme parks--but the park itself is not maintained to that level. Many areas feel outdated and in need of attention. The fast passes are more expensive than Disney for such a lower quality theme park. Food service is another major issue. Expect long wait times, understaffed locations, and employees who seem untrained or unsure of what they're doing. Getting something as simple as food or drinks can take way longer than it should. For a company of this size, refusing to accommodate customers over something so minor--especially when the experience already falls short--is a bad look. Definitely makes you think twice before spending your money here again. It sends the message that customer loyalty and satisfaction are not a priority. I have such fond memories from growing up and going with my family . I've been coming here since I was a kid, but a lot has changed since then. They removed a lot of my favorite rides. Some of the new rides are fun! But what ruined the trip for me is the flash passes. I bought the premium one and they make you use your phone now to book rides in advance with the flash pass, and the wait times are still 30+ minutes! What's the point of having the flash passes if we have to wait that long anyway, especially when they charge so much for it. It's easy to get lost if you're looking for certain rides. We went for a Rutgers Alumni event- lunch was supplied by the park was decent but not amazing (kind of to be expected). There were quite a few rides closed like the log flume and other water rides- it was a hot day in July so these really would have helped. Our other complaint was that line wait times were inaccurate and often double or more than wait time reported. We were hungry end of day and wanted to grab pizza before we went home- $17 for one slice which is absurd on principle Overall nice place to go with friends or family, but definitely some room for improvement on customer experience. read more

The park itself is really fun, and the roller coasters are bold and amazing. However, the staff seems extremely poorly trained, almost always grumpy, low-energy, and on several occasions they were rude to me and my friends. I even witnessed an employee yelling at a guest right in front of me, which is completely unacceptable and honestly very frustrating. People come to the park to have a good time and enjoy a fun experience, and the staff should be trained to deliver exactly that. My experience at Great Adventure was rather mediocre. The rides that were open were fun... Though literally half of the other rides I wanted to go on were closed. But that isn't my main complaint. We ordered some food- Chicken tenders and crab fries. We immediately got the fries, but the chicken? Where you at?? Turns out they forgot about it, so it took them 30 minutes to make the chicken. Why so long?? And the craziest part was that when we started eating a piece of chicken, IT WASN'T EVEN COOKED. Yep. The inside was completely RAW. How is that ok??? But yeah. It's been years since my last visit. I had a great time! We all purchased seasonal passes. We got these cool free cups with unlimited refills, discounts on food, souvenirs, and access to all parks. We bought the diamond package which upgraded us to platinum $115. Great Deal!! We got there early to avoid lines. Well when you get there early, some rides will not be operating. We made our rounds based on their website for open locations. The kids were able to get on a few rides several times. I'm not much of a roller coasters person. I did enjoy the safari ride and watching all the different animals. The tour guide was very informative and funny. The food was delicious. Chicken tenders were big and fries were plenty. I'm only reviewing "Johnny Rockets" at Six Flags Great Adventure. The menu at the Johnny Rockets was very expensive. In any Johnny Rockets, you would be spending $10-$20, but in this one. They want you pay over $20 plus taxes for an average burger with fries and a drink (which was like an extra $7). The staff won't even let you buy just the sandwich, it has to be with a side. Also, when I was trying to order my chocolate milkshake, it didn't come with no whipped cream, no cherry, no straw and no cup cover after I requested it. All of that for $7. All they gave me was a spoon and a large cup for my shake and the consistency was like ice cream. So yeah. Honestly, I've been ripped off. I even tried to ask for a refund and they DON'T do refunds. To improve, they should lower their prices and give the customer what they promised instead of false advertising them. So they can choose instead of getting ripped off. read more

One of my favorite theme parks ever! My sister and I usually come 2-3 times a year from Long Island and it is absolutely worth the drive. There is a huge selection of roller coasters, flat roses and stuff for children. I always buy my tickets online as you get a pretty decent sale price compared to at the gate. There is a lot to do, but on a hot day, the lines are SO long. I was here yesterday and it was 90 degrees and there was a lack of A/C and/or misters while online, so it was really tough. Other than that, I had a positive experience. Food is pretty expensive - it was $60 for two meals and a reusable cup for free refills for the day. I actually do recommend the chicken fingers from yum yum cafe and getting the reusable cup for free refills all day - trust me, it pays for itself. Can't wait for my next visit back! read more

Glasses wearers, stay away! I used to love this park. I was a season pass holder. But then the lockdowns happened, so its been a few years since I've come, and I don't know exactly when this happened, but now there is a rule that you aren't allowed to wear glasses on the rides. Even on a very mild ride like The Dark Knight they insisted on taking my glasses off. And a ride is a lot less fun when you can't see it! I've ridden on roller coasters all over the world and never had the slightest problem with my glasses until this. I will not be going back until they change this rule. Update: As you can see below, they asked me to email them, and I did. They apologized and said they are forwarding my concerns on to management, but did not say they are making any changes to the rule. My one-star review stands until they do, and I will not be going back until they do. Update to the update: Now that I think more about it, I'm wondering if there's an ADA violation here. I'm not a lawyer, and I know that the ADA is complex, but "you have to remove your assistive device if you want to go on this ride" feels like a violation to me, especially since they didn't offer any accommodation. "You have to wear a strap to make sure your glasses stay on" would have been fine, and I would have done it. "You have to remove your glasses if you want to ride" was the rule, though, and that seems legally very dodgy. I'm not threatening to sue or anything, mind you, because my damages would be very minimal, but if they're doing this on a broad scale they're begging for some kind of enforcement. read more

Not a good start to the 2026 season. We had a season pass for the 2024 season and decided to skip Six Flags for the 2025 season because Corporate decided to celebrate SFGAdventure's 50th anniversary by removing Kingda Ka and some many other rides. We decided to try again in 2026 arriving today April 8th was greeted with warning that half the rides were closed because of an electrical problem. Around 11:00 am was next to board Nitro and was informed that everyone had to exit the station. While walking around the park to find another ride we noticed all rides were closed. No announcement of any kind. No Batman or Superman all day. Most of all the kiddie's rides closed. Good work on El Toro but still ruff. The only good news was that around 1:30 we got our first ever ride on Flash. Great ride. Please improve ride ops and get Great Adventure GREAT again. The stamped concrete for the start of the new Boardwalk section look good. Food still too expensive so we will still be doing packed lunches from home. read more

I finally cancelled my 4 diamond memberships...had them 10 years....cuts after cuts...hated the cancelation of holiday in the park, then the dead man party cut which no family anywhere agreed with...oh prior to those was the 50 percent increase on the memberships....but the last draw was the worst...let us pay all november, December and January (over 300 dollars) then change the dining intervals and eliminate snacks...its not the eliminating, it was doing it during off-season when members pay all of season. I visited the park last month, I tried to by the tickets at the window but the guy said is cheaper on line. So I tried to purchase them on line using PayPal, after loading and loading it rerouted to the main page so I figured they didn't go through so I used Apple Pay and this time, everything was good we went to the park that day no problems. A few days after we got the bill and both card were charged. Called 6 flags and after spending hours on the phone they said we can't reimburse us. So 6flags wanted to keep both money. I say all of this but I will absolutely go back again. What's Wrong With SFGA? --Unfortunately, the problem with Six Flags, Great Adventure is the fact that there is just no consistency in theme at this park. If there was better cohesion it would really just make this place more out of this world. --This happened to us twice, but there should be a indicated handicap/accessible row. When you go with a group of 5 and you have to split yourself in rows, but a group on that handicap line take your seat, it ruins the placement. With that said, they should also be somebody that helps place people in certain rows before the lines. It causes a ruckus and mess and ride flow is not properly utilized --Single Rider lines should be implemented to improve ridership --It's not Disney World and I get that, but damn, half the workers looked miserable and projected that attitude. --The moment it hit 8pm, and I kid you not, the Dip N Dots lady actually slammed the screen in our faces as we ran up, which sucked cause we got stuck on a ride. --The locker situation needs a solution cause this I imagine is pretty hellish on a busy day So, Why Would I Go Back? --The rides themselves are pretty remarkable. The kid themed area is also really coming together. If you are a thrill seeker this is definitely for you. --Season Pass is EXTREMELY worth it. If you plan on going to Six Flags twice, you basically break even. --The park is HUGE. I got there early to end, and still didn't get to ride everything. Been coming here for years, there are rides for everyone, kids as well as adults. The young ones enjoyed all the rides: El Toro, Nitro and Kingda ka being one of their faves. There are also a lot more food options now, compared to before. The food is pretty good considering it's in a theme park. The park itself was very clean and I liked that they had multiple speakers everywhere. They were playing a good range of music from teeny bopper songs to alternative rock. If you have the season pass, you'll get discounts on food and merch, so might as well get it if you're planning to visit more than once, or planning to visit the other parks: safari and hurricane harbor. The bathrooms are extremely clean, and nice and cold which is greatly appreciated especially on a hot summer day. If you're not big on rides, theres a variety of fun carnival games and restaurants/bars available. Get the orange refillable drink bottle, if you can for free soda, juice, blue Powerade refills. There are multiple refill stations, pretty much any food/bar station that you see. The only thing that I didn't like was that you can't enter the safari anymore through the main park. You would have to drive there, so I would suggest going there first since the ride itself is only about 40-45 minutes. Also, they should add more benches along the main rides for the parents/guardians waiting on the children. read more

We came here on a Saturday and it got quite busy at night. We purchased tickets for fright fest and was charged the extra amount yet they had cancelled the fright fest preview and we had ended up paying more for nothing. The guest services people were extremely rude and very unhelpful. They gave us attitude and could not help us at all with getting any compensation or refunds when we were promised an event that we paid for that got cancelled. We bought flash pass and 100% worth it if you don't want to wait in lines, and try to go in the morning when it's less busy for all the popular rides. Six flags is very expensive when you add on the flash pass and we likely will not go back for a long time. Esp after this event with getting charged for an event we did not receive and also rude customer service it wasn't a great. read more

I recently went to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ, and had an amazing time! The park was easy to get into, especially if you arrive early. It gets noticeably busier in the early evening and nighttime, mainly because of Fright Fest. My friend and I had a fantastic time and didn't have to wait long to ride some of the roller coasters. Would love to give this amusement park 5 stars for the amazing group of friends we went with that truly made this a 5 star experience and we had a blast. Oh, and Kingda Ka!!! That was it's own experience and what made it worth it, wow. Sadly, if I were to take that away, I quickly realized this park is unfortunately as advertised. There aren't many roller coasters besides nitro, Superman, Kingda Ka, joker and a couple of others. Oh sadly, about 3 of them were broken/not working so that was also a bummer. Being a huge fan of roller coasters and amusement parks this one just doesn't hit the mark for me. As expected, it's filled with overpriced food and drinks which I don't mind and my review isn't about that but the rides and full experience should at least balance themselves out. Some lines were kinda long but they did move along pretty quick. I do love the lockers, you can pay for an all day locker and move around as you please so you don't necessarily have to have a designated purse holder haha. We had both! Our last ride of the day was Kingda Ka which we almost rode again one more time without doing the line but we were sadly the last ones to ride since this also broke down as people waited in line for their turn. We headed over to the drop of soon and that also was closed/not working. They made up with beautiful fireworks and honestly we had a blast. But what you pay for entrance and parking is quite high for a place that constantly has a ride breaking down. read more

I used to love coming to Six flags every summer and for every fright fest. However, I have seen the quality of the park gone down over the years. The prices of the tickets and food go up but the food quality is sub par and there are rides that are closed more often. Not sure if it's for maintenance or lack of workers. I really do enjoy their funnel cakes which is what I look forward to every time I visit six flags. I also love their gift shops since there are always nice merchandise to take back home as gifts. read more

My last review was 10 years ago wow, and I gave them 4 stars. Yesterday was a great experience as well with new rides since my last review. I was bummed Superman was closed for the day, but outside of that everything else I was happy with. Nitro still remains the MVP and the best coaster at this park. Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth is fun - I find it really relaxing when you find that zero G feeling as you're floating in the air before you fall. The Joker is one of my favorite "newish" rides to the park. The only downfall is that they can only load 8 riders at a time, so sometimes the line can be really long for quite a short ride - but the ride is unique and one of my favorite types where the car freely spins and rotates to the momentum of the ride. Medusa and Green Lantern are both really smooth, but I don't get much "Gs" out of them - but please note I am a pretty active coaster rider. The Jersey Devil coaster is unique in that it's the first coaster I've ever ridden where it is a single rider per row (single rail coaster), therefore they can only load 12 riders at a time, but 2 cars running. I really enjoyed this one. El Toro is a classic, and that first drop is honestly amazing and awesome - but the rest of the ride gives me an actual headache bc of the shakiness/impact during the ride which is pretty common for wooden coasters. My top 3 coasters are Nitro, Joker, and Jersey Devil based on yesterday's visit. We were lucky on a Thursday, without flash pass we were able to hit all the rides we wanted to - and we even hopped to Hurricaine Harbor. Beer/drinks are about $20 including tax/tip, food is as expected about $17-25 per entree - I didn't partake in any food or drink though, so can't comment on that. Overall, I was pleased that after a decade there were new rides for me to enjoy after being a season pass holder for a few years pre-pandemic. read more
