I followed Dr. Davis from the U. Of I. Vet Clinic to AHATC when he began this veterinary practice…read more I'm not even sure what year that was. I'm 85, so you know I am extremely happy with the competence and care all our dogs (and cats) have received. I have found warm and welcoming professionals from the receptionists, vet techs, and veterinarians throughout the many years I have been coming to this vet practice. The same has been true since Dr. Davis retired and Dr. Stoerger has continued the practice. Every time I've had to make that awful decision a pet owner often faces, I have been supported and eased through euthanizing a beloved furry member of our family, this practice has supported me with their combined veterinary skills, their empathy, and their understanding for my loss. My most recent experience in dealing with my Murphy's struggle with cancer, I was able to get through it with their support and caring. Dr. Stoerger came to my home with a vet tech and told me to let her know when I was ready. (You're not ever really "ready" to lose your friend and companion, but you know it's the last caring thing you can do for them, and I was given the gift of Dr. Stoerger's understanding and empathy for my loss. She has cared for Murphy, my beagle mix, from 2012 when I adopted him until his recent euthanasia. When the mass was discovered in his lung, she told me of the cancer division at U. Of I. Veterinarian Medical School, who were wonderful as well. When I took him there, she shared his medical records with them. In his illness and euthanasia, she was so tender with him--and with me--that I felt comforted, and I know Murphy was as well. I highly and confidently recommend Dr. Stoerger and this practice who will make your pet and you feel not only welcome, but confident in their hands. received. She shared his

I just returned from my visit, so the fact that I am writing this review minutes after my visit…read moreshould show how absolutely ANGRY I am for going to Beaumont. Brought my 6-yr old german shepherd in for an annual exam and a Bordetella vaccination. Brian Zulauf began by feeling around her body. He attempted to manipulate her leg and she went crazy. Clearly alot of pain. That is where the exam ended. He charged me for a "comprehensive physical". When I questioned the charge with the assistant, he had the audacity to say that he performed the exam. Wait..then he comes back into the room, takes out his stethoscope to listen to her heart to act like he was doing something. I am sitting right there watching everything!! This is me: So, you are telling me that you performed a comprehensive exam a minute ago and I missed it?" Zulauf: Yes. I could not hide my complete disgust. $69 for him to look me in my face and lie. Did I mention that he tried to give the Bordetella by mouth and half of it sprayed on me? His response..."its ok, she got enough." $40 for that. Man.. I have never been so angry and disgusted and hurt. I don't care if they are offering free services, I WILL NEVER RETURN. I am a professional and expect the same from the businesses I choose. I say... do what you want, but please know that this review is 110% accurate.

I asked if the deposit was refundable. The person I was speaking with said that appointment could be cancelled and deposit refunded 24 hours prior to appointment. Since the appointment was 2 pm Monday, I asked if they were open on Saturday. The person I was speaking with said they are. That meant I could cancel 48 hours in advance by calling as late as 2 pm Saturday. A couple hours later, I learned that Good Friends is also corporate owned. I called at 2:14 pm Friday 10/11/24 to cancel, just a couple hours after I made the appointment. Another person answered the phone, and she refused to refund the deposit. After calling my bank to dispute the charge, I called back to give them another chance. Lydia answered and initially refused to give her name. Eventually she gave me her name and revealed that Good Friends is part of Heartland Veterinary Partners. I called Heartland Veterinary Partners and was unable to secure a refund. Will not recommend to anyone. I took my dog in due to him not eating or drinking for days. His…read morestomach is extended and he gained 5 pounds, which if he is not eating he would not gain weight. He also has been stabile in his weight for many years as he is an older dog. I only took him here because my vet could not get him in for a few days and I did not want to pay thousands at U of I Vet Med. Spent $700 to be told he is dehydrated but nothing is wrong with him. As a dog owner for my entire life (my parents had multiple dogs when I was a kid and multiple had medical concerns) I know my dog and how he acts. To be dismissed about my concerns and told there is nothing wrong with him is concerning. I am now taking him to my vet due to the same issue as well as a massive bump on his ear that is causing his ear to droop and him being in pain. My dog pants when he is stressed and in pain and I tried to tell them this as well but this was also dismissed. Not only did I spend $700 to be told nothing was wrong, now I have to pay even more money to get the original problem looked at and fixed. If a thorough exam had been completed and my concerns were heard, my dog would have already had the treatment he needed, instead of being in pain and I wouldn't be out so much money for the same concern. I was also told by the tech I would receive a call the following week to check up and see how my dog is doing but have not received a call and now 3 weeks later have not heard anything from them. I took him to my vet, Country View, who just looking at my dog told me he had an ear hematoma. He had a severe ear infection that led to his ear drum being shut off. My vet answered all my questions, including telling me that him not eating and drinking was because he was in pain and had an infection. My dog will now have an ear droop the rest of his life because the infection was not caught. This is negligence on the doctors part at Sports Vet. There was no exam done because if there was he would have caught the ear infection which could have been treated for way less than $700 and my dog wouldn't have developed an ear hematoma. Sports Vet does not want to do anything to make this better and just say I'm sorry. What do you want me to do? Do better! Stop charging people outrageous amounts of money to find something so simple as an ear infection. Do your job!

Some puffed up admittedly unlicensed male "Beau" got on the phone - and did the same talking over you routine. His speaker listener obligation, really fell through the phone - yelling, yet not listening to me the owner of the patient. He admitted having no license in anything. HAve spent thousands there, and brought 4 or 5 pets there. Have never run in to such an unprofessional needy employee like this anywhere. One of my pets was mis-diagnosed there a couple of years ago - no apology or refund. I do have a professional license in a healthcare field - No one is perfect - but the failure to accept my pet for treatment and deal with the youngster's failure to handle the call like an adult - instead of a nasty cry baby - was so bad, it was almost hilarious, it was handled so poorly. Have spent thousands there and whoever this "Beau" guy is, has to go. It's completely unprofessional to act like a brat. This isn't how a professional healthcare provider should behave. They are losing patients due to an attitude issue. Not to mention that they had no pain relief RX for both of my cats that had dental procedures done on the same day once.. There are techs and 2 particular docs there that we love - but we aren't going to be treated like we were treated not too long ago. Just being open and honest. Beau would not sllow me to talk to a vet - which would have been the first appropriate thing to do.

The staff is not particularly friendly, and while helpful, they leave one feeling as if they are an inconvenience or just plain dumb. The last time I was in, I had some questions regarding specific food for our puppy who needed, per our vet, a food that was more grain-forward, and the girl kept showing me high protein brands. When I questioned her again, she looked at her colleagues and rolled her eyes. It is not unreasonable to expect a feed store to have alternative diet options than just grain-free dog food and treats, especially at the price range they in which they are offering their products. What's more, puppy foods do come in more than just chicken, even in brands than what they offer. I went to another store, who offered to help me order it, and when I reached out to the actual company, they sent me my first bag for FREE! To be a local, small business owner is hard, I get it, but if you continually reject your neighbors, who want to shop at your business, we will just choose to go somewhere else. On another occasion, I was in line behind an older woman, presumably in her late 60's, who was inquiring about a job, she had completed an application, and had some questions. I was not in a hurry, was not upset, and had not expression to indicate that I was bothered - quite the contrary! The young girl at the service counter was so incredibly rude to this woman, snapped answers to the applicant, rolled her eyes, sighed loudly, and showed very visibly her impatience. The applicant walked out, hopeful. The cashier then handed the application to another woman who had walked up, who just slid it into a folder under the desk, and filed it. They both apologized profusely to me for the inconvenience and "bother," to which I replied, it is not a crime to seek employment. I explained that I was not in a hurry, and that we all should show kindness to those who are desperately seeking employment at this time of year. I did note that day that there are no older folks working there, and really no one of diverse background. It is all young girls. Strange really. Anyway, I realized that day, that this is not really a place I feel I want to do business, especially when every time I go in, I do not feel welcome to shop, to ask questions, or think they even appreciate me as a consumer. Too bad, as it is a very niche business and vital for many pet and livestock owners.
