We had a great rental experience with Sitka Car Rental. Pick up at the airport was easy, and we were able to drop the car off downtown near our Airbnb for a minimal charge which was cheaper than a taxi back from the airport. The vehicles are older, so if you're expecting a new car with a state of the art stereo and key fob, then you should probably go with Avis, but if you're looking for reliable transportation for the 14 miles of roadway, for 1/2 the price, then Sitka Car Rental is the company for you. We felt like we fit in with most of the other cars on the road in Sitka. We even heard from a local that Sitka Car rental is the company locals rent from when their car is in the shop. Great car rental option for half the price as Avis (the only option from the Airport). They even delivered it to us as at the restaurant we were eating at! Super convenient that we could leave it at the airport for our flight home. You can also leave it at the ferry docks if that's your mode of transport. The Jeep Cherokee worked great for what we needed- only reason for the four stars were we couldn't get the rear view windows to roll down from the back, sunroof didn't open, and trunk didn't lock with the rest of the car (had to lock it separately with a key). It was pretty old- had almost 200,000 miles on it. But Sitka is so small we didn't need to drive too much, so it worked out just fine. All in all, I'd book with them again next time I come up here over Avis due to it being 1/2 the price read more

My friend rented a vehicle for two days and it was a wreck. That is fine, not picky. The problem was, they falsely accused her of damage when the car was dented and a mess when we got it. I recommend taking lots of time-stamped photos when you rent from Sitka Rental and don't let them bully you into paying for damage you didn't do. read more

Not great, but few options. There are only two options for rental cars in Sitka. Avis is extremely expensive, and Sitka Car Rental is a little bit cheaper, but no by much. Problem is that Sitka Car Rental offers old non-functioning cars. Problems such as doors that do not open, locks that do not work, beat up interiors, steering problems, and ignition cylinders that get locked up so that you cannot start the car. Safety could be a concern. I do not think I would rent from them again. read more

So we wanted a car for 7 days and didn't want to pay $120 a day. For a much better price we got an older model Jeep, power everything! Even better than the price? The customer service is like dealing with a friend that is willing to do anything to help. From dropping the car off at the beginning of the rental to letting us drop it off at the airport, the staff was cheerful and helpful every step of the way. read more
