My red staffordshire pit mix, Thor. Love this guy to death. Even more now thx to Sit Means Sit.

On SITMEANSSIT.com I watched the puppy and dog training videos. They have many to choose from. There is so much to consider and so much work to do when considering adding a new member (dog) to your family. Professional Dog Training is not an area that you want to short change. These people are professionals and very knowledgeable when it comes to laying a sound foundation for your new puppy or dog. I have the advantage of raising my new dog as a puppy. He's a red staffordshire bull terrier/pit mix. Cutest thing ever but, like most dogs, he is a lot of work and well worth it. So far, just in 3 weeks, I've seen amazing progress with every day and especially after I work with our local SitMeansSit trainer Chris Kaonui. Chris is a great dog trainer but he also feels like a dog counselor/therapist and coach to me, the dog owner. Seriously. When he's not with me and my dog I'm finding myself following through with his recommendations. When I do, more and more my job of raising my dog and efforts to guide and train him gets easier and easier. Sit Means Sit is a step by step program to the foundation of a sound, healthy relationship between you and your dog. I highly recommend them.

My son couldn't walk our 190 pound dog before boot camp with the incredible team at Sit Means Sit.

This experience was life changing for our family. Our only regret is not doing it sooner. This really was investment and worth every penny. Before training, we didn't feel comfortable taking our 190 pound dog to beaches. He was dog reactive. I had built up fear of encountering any other dogs while on walks. The team at Sit Means Sit trained our dog but they also trained us and are continuing to train and support even after we picked up our dog. They gave our dog a solid foundation in just 3 weeks. He was extremely well cared for. He was comfortable and loved. They took time explaining their methods before during and after boot camp. Any dog we get in the future, we will be bringing to this team for training. Two paws way up!!

Scott Sanchez with Sit Means Sit Maui does a fantastic job with training puppies. This is the first time our family owned a dog. We wanted to make sure that all of us gave the same commands so not to confuse our puppy,Toby. Scott truly has passion for training and it shows with every interaction he had with our puppy. His explanations of how a dog thinks and techniques to use really work and are easy to apply. I highly recommend using Sit Means Sit. I only wish he did train children and husbands!

After months of researching trainers and training programs I called sit means sit. I was so impressed with the free demonstration I wanted in! However I had to wait and save up. While waiting I tried a few different training systems in home. Waste of money! After 3 sessions with Jake there is a world of difference in my dog's obedience! (Year and a half blue heeler). I'm doing the in home training program. Not the boot camp. Worth every penny! I can't wait till we are done with all training sessions! A lot of it is training me! Lol! Highly recommend!

My well behaved dog after training.

From what I understand this business is run from Maui but services other islands. I live on Oahu and worked with Chris. I signed up for the Board and Train program for my 7 month old 3/4 labrador, 1/4 golden retriever. I'll warn you right now that it isn't cheap, BUT, i got all the results that I wanted. I have 3 young children (6,4,1 years old) and they all had a hard time with this large, very active puppy. There wasn't a thing in the house that didn't go un-chewed. She used to take food out of the kids hands. She would not come when called. We badly wanted a dog and be able to have off-leash experiences with it. We decided that it would be a good investment for our family to take her training seriously. We called sit means sit and they sent Chris over to do a demo. He brought his dog and we were pretty impressed. We signed up for the training about 1 month later. After 11 days we were so surprised how well behaved our dog was. She was no longer chewing everything. She didn't take food out of my kids hands. She comes when called. We were seriously impressed at the change. There's still work you have to do after the board and train but it only takes about 20 mins a day, so it's time you'd spend with your dog anyways. It has also been a great bonding experience. Like I said earlier, it not cheap... BUT, it's totally worth it. I'll admit that I was very skeptical in the beginning but it was well worth the investment.

WE DID IT! At Petco and no reactive behavior - never thought this would be possible! Heres proof!

I can't say enough good things about Scott and his team. Our dog Baci is a dream now. She went from rascal puppy to obedient dog.

We now, finally, have complete peace of mind when we leave the island. Debra is like the dog whisperer of Maui! Such TLC for our four they good family member. He is always so excited to see her, and almost makes us a little jealous ... but isn't this what every loving dog owner is looking for? Debra is our Ohana now and a very important part of our family at that. Such a loving and kind spirit that I'm sure all her dog loved ones can feel. Mahalo Debra!! We love you, Tirza, Bob & Phinney

There is only one of her, and he has a lot of energy so this is understandable. However, her attitude and some of her training methods left me very concerned. My dog is terrified of everything. He is the type of Scooby-Doo dog who will leap in your arms if he hears a strange noise. He is also very weary of new people but has been socialized with other dogs under professional supervised settings his entire life, with no issue. Naturally when he first saw the owner he started to bark. Before I even had a chance to calm him down, she stated that he displayed "alpha" tendencies. This was within the first 30 seconds of meeting him. I attempted to explain that we have worked extensively with a trainer with a doctorate in animal psychology and that was not her assessment at all, but she ignored me, saying "he needs training." She then started talking about how he needs a bark collar. Admittedly these aren't shock collars, but between her use of the term "alpha", the discussion of a bark collar and her comment about "no treats" it suggests to me that her ideas of training are very different from mine. I prefer positive reinforcement, and tools like treats or toys the dog will enjoy, to inspire confidence and trust. Our dog did get to meet the other dogs, and aside from one time when he sharply barked once at another dog, and another time when he was starting to growl while initiating play (totally common in dogs, even Labradors) she freaked out. The owner proceeded to state blatant lies about how German Shepherds are the #1 biters (they're not, Chihuahuas are). As a person who has owned German Shepherds for over 30 years, I take great umbrage at her comments, not to mention that my current dog has no German Shepherd in him whatsoever. TLDR: If the owner didn't want to board our dog, that's fine. But to treat him like a red zone case ready to attack was not okay.

Dr Knee did a great job of explaining the possible reasons of my cat's problem ear, discussing options as well. He gave him a steroid shot and had his ears cleaned by the tech. What I really liked about him is he asked to first sit and discuss the issues before pulling my cat out of carrier. So many times at other veterinary places they often do all the talking while the cat is just sitting there on exam table acting nervous! I felt it was a very thorough exam and the pricing is about the same as other veterinarian offices. He was very personable and professional. I am glad to have found a new vet doctor for my cat. Dr. Jill Mitchell was absolutely amazing, guiding us with warmth, patience, and understanding through an incredibly difficult time. The receptionist (I'm sorry I didn't write down her name. The entire team treated us and our Bella with care and respect over the two days we were there, making a heartbreaking experience feel a little more gentle and supported. Even though it was very sad, we'll always remember the tenderness and dignity they gave our sweet Bella in her final moments. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us through this with such grace and compassion. Harlow Ohana
