Really? I should have had a local 6th grader do the job. It would have been more professional. I booked 4 services total at Bella Lei Salon Spa & Boutique. 2 were ok (facial and makeup trail). They were nothing special, but not bad. It seems that once you let them know the service is for your wedding the prices magically go up. That would be fine IF they were quality services, but the fact that they did not have the skill nor the proper equipment to curl my straight hair and that I had to curl it beforehand myself should have been a sign to stay away but no I had the pre bridal service a few days before and then the day of the wedding. In the trail hairstyle I was not thrilled but I thought that with the addition of flowers and me curling my own hair prior to the service it would be ok. Nope! The stylist stuck a few flowers that I brought in with me into my hair with nothing to hold them. Of course they immediately fell out. I was sick about this "special 'do" and left before having my makeup done there. I went back to my hotel, took out the braid and re-curled my hair myself. The receptionist insisted that I pay and I did. I was not able to speak to the salon manager. My husband called 2xs to speak to the manager. She was not available and would not return his phone call. We waited for more than two weeks for a manager to reach and out and at least acknowledge the disappointing service but she never did reach out. I don't take writing such a review lightly. I appreciate local businesses, but when you unapologetically deliver extremely substandard services the consumer has a right to know so that they can avoid such businesses.

I had to tell her multiple times to be careful on my head because she was pulling and being rough. The entire process was rushed. The color was okay. I am so extremely upset about how damaged my hair is now, I have never had this happen before. I don't know what products were used on my hair, or if whatever they use for dye was not properly mixed or what. The price was very inexpensive, but I got what I paid for. Great location in an old warehouse with river views from the windows. I had Olivia style my hair in an updo. I showed her some pictures, and she was able to mix them all and make it gorgeous! It stayed up for the entire night! The bride went in early to practice her hair and makeup, so the day of there were no surprises. They helped attach her veil to her updo and show us how to remove it without ruining her hairstyle. All the stylists were very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere for the morning of the Wedding day! Prices were very reasonable and fair for everything. If I lived closer this would be my go to spot for haircuts. I was in desperate need of a really good cut and color before returning to work (after maternity leave) but also wanted to maximize my time with my daughter. Since moving to Chicago two years ago, I have been unable to find a stylist who I love, or even like for that matter. So I was feeling like my hair would be eternally bland... until I met Christina. A friend of mine works with a lot of stylists for her job (for photoshoots, etc.) and I was telling her about my dilemma. She recommended that I call Christina because she had worked with her before AND because she does house calls. I was sold. Now, the experience: I texted Christina on a Monday evening, we talked for a few moments on the phone, she explained her process, I discussed my needs, and the next morning she was at my house with all of her gear and a Starbucks iced latte for each of us. She was THE BEST. She's completely transparent about pricing. Her prices are exactly the same as what I pay in a salon (there is no added fee for coming to your home), but the entire process is so much more fun and relaxing. We decided to touch up my roots, paint in some lighter pieces (like tortoise shell/balayage/ombre) and then bond my hair with Oraplex. Because she used the Oraplex, we only had to trim a little bit off the ends of my hair, allowing me to keep all of my length. She styled my hair with a beautiful blowout, and it lasted a solid four days! She made great recommendations the whole time, she was really efficient in every aspect of her work, and the whole experience felt much more like a fun girls' day vs. the standard salon experience.
