However, they canceled the day prior to our meeting, just as I was confirming the appointment. During our rescheduled meeting at my private home, the representative insisted on obtaining permission from my community's board. I explained that we do not have a Homeowners Association (HOA) and that this project was outside the jurisdiction of the community board. To be cooperative, I offered to get an email from the board president acknowledging their awareness of the project, which I promptly provided. After receiving this email, the company's representative took it upon themselves to contact the board president directly without my consent and despite the fact that I had not yet hired them. This unauthorized contact with a third party is unprofessional and a significant breach of privacy. read more

I am a business owner specializing in Interior design and staging. Previous to the pandemic I would store new (in box) and some used furniture and property in a large 5000 sq ft warehouse in Long Island. Bohemia. My lease was up January of 2020 as we all know we were in a terrible place to sell furniture during the pandemic. I called a few liquidators in and out of state. I started talking to Denise the owner at the time in 2022 a year before, she seemed genuine and helpful as I was investigating options. it was explained to me in 2023 that their company would prep of space, organize for a sale, and price the items that were to be sold. I was instructed by another woman who said I did not need to be at the sale and they preferred that. I had cameras in my warehouse and front office. When they came to prep the warehouse I saw three men on camera. They were NOT respectful of my inventory and or me - I had a box of ice packs and one man asked another hey anyone need an icepack? They were saying things like this "junk" will not sell. At my request I told a man named Mike that anything in boxes that were personal to call and let me know so it would not go to selling block. He gave me a call about a kitchenaide mixer and I told him no do not sell, I gave him again solid and specific instructions - boxed new and used furniture on floor, hanging clothes on racks, some new with tags could all sell - NO boxed personal items could sell. Unfortunately, my 92 year old mother had broken a hip the day I arrived back to the West Coast and could not watch the ring camera videos on prep day and or sale day. She was in the hospital for the full month. In between her resting time at the hospital I would view the cameras. I saw a moving truck pull up to the front of my building and the inside crews were loading new boxed inventory into the truck. I was hopeful that things were selling. After the sale, and my mother was in stable condition, I started to review the tapes. I was horrified at what I was seeing. staff were taking clothes and stock piling what they wanted. NOTHING WAS PRICED AND OR TAGGED. They took and or sold personal ITEMS that was in a large tall wardrobe box that contained carefully folded in long plastic containers with very expensive shawls, vests and wraps of cashmere, wool and fur, Hermes scarves, fur wraps and silk scarves, the wardrobe also contained expensive shoes (heels and booties) that were in plastic containers and cowgirl boots. This was not authorized to sell - and that makes me most mad. To make a long story short, after the sale I got a check for a whopping $2500.00!! All the charges that were kept was for set up and their cut. I asked and questioned them for a list of items sold, and price. I did not get that list for at least a month and a half after the sale, and it was only because I was asking my insurance company to get involved. They said they normally do not give an accounting. When I got the list they did not list things I saw go on this mystery moving truck that had their name on the side - I was missing sofas, chairs, silver teapot and tray, new packaged manufactured wrapped bedding, draperies still in RH store bag - nothing was on the list or accounted for - the list was brief and 1/2 page long - very disappointing to say the least.They were authorized to sell new boxed and new and used furniture, and hung clothing on wall, Problem lies with how much they sold it for literally pennies on the dollar, no accountability, no list and or what things sold for. I would never use their service and or recommend them to anyone anywhere. I have sold turn-key furniture in model homes for builders when a buyer does not want to purchase the turn-key package. We sell everything and clear our investment. This whole process was a loser. Oh and the big following they may have - maybe 20 people max for the full three days. When I confronted them about the truck they said Denise sold her company to relatives I believe Dawn and the truck went to Florida to where she (Denise) lives with the goods they were picking up from my warehouse to bring to her home. So not only was I docked at their percentage deductions, staff was also dipping in to take full advantage of what they wanted - it was all on tape. After the sale the warehouse was a mess - a few of my "personal items (a few vests) were strewn on the floor, and that is how I know they opened that personal wardrobe. Showed up an hour early to a Tag Sale in Babylon. Already 30-40 people standing there. Okay, no problem. These things are popular. Heres the issue. You overheard about 20 times about how there was a "list" that got "tore up" by an angry customer/lister and it was "re-done", - apparantly THREE TIMES. You can tell the front of the line were their "regulars". They let thise 7-10 people in and closed the door. THIRTY MINUTES LATER. they call another few people off a list. At this point im standing there almost 2 hours and there are still 3 dozen people in front of me. As a company if you want to offer a "list" for your VIP "pickers" how about managing it like professionals instead of allowing these savages to tear it up and create a chaos infused nightmare of 100 people questioning how these lines are formed. Lists are hands down unfair advantages anyway. You want to offer a first come first serve situation then hand out numbers. This company clearly favors certain individuals by allowing them to sign up for these imaginary lists. You're raking 1/3 of over priced USED items from these home owners desperate to hire movers/sellers. Do the right thing and make it fair game for your clientele. First and last time I'll be coming to any of your sales. Ill be spreading the word aswell. Anybody reading this follow X Marks the Spot sales. I went there one time and have been dying to find another sale the same. Numbers were handed out, a professional came out before he allowed people to come in and explained the process. I strongly advise against utilizing their online auction service if it's offered to you. For starters their contracted split is 60/40 for their services (60% you/40% them). That is a high commission compared to most Long Island based auctioneers I contacted. Most were in the 30% range. Worse, once all of their fees were accounted for? The final split of the sale was actually: 73% THEM and 27% us! In some ways it honestly felt like I was just providing them a means of employment and profit while they practically gave our stuff away. You can do much better for your family selling your own items. After our estate sale with Sisters in Charge (SIC) ended, I sold just 15 or so leftover items myself and made almost TRIPLE in sales on just those few items than I made in total with SIC running our auction of over 200 items that took them 2 months to put together and execute. So in brief: 1) Their current online auction business model is a complete ripoff. 2) Their advertised & contracted split is extremely misleading. 3) You waste a lot of valuable time waiting for their assessments and other appointments. 4) You can do MUCH better just selling items yourself and do so in much less time. That's the short version of this review but if you're interested in more details of my very bad experience with this company, feel free to read on: The lead up to the auction: The entire process took 2 long months. Most of that was spent by us waiting for SIC appointments. I waited 3 weeks for an initial assessment appointment and I signed the contract based on that very positive (and I believe honest) initial assessment. I then waited another 3 weeks for a photography appointment. Photography sessions: The contract I signed states: "Relocators DBA Sisters In Charge will, at NO ADDITIONAL charge, catalogue, organize, arrange, and inventory all items to be sold." Not stated in this contract is that they charge a $310 fee PER DAY for all the photography they do to post online for the auction. I was separately informed of this fee but I find it strange that it is not listed in the contract. Mindful of this high fee, I spent days going through our entire house, cleaning, organizing and grouping items in sections to try and help expedite the time needed for photography. I sent SIC a detailed email explaining how everything was organized within the house and included pictures with my explanations. It seems that email was largely, if not completely ignored. Upon the completion of their photography sessions, I was surprised to find how many items were passed over by the photographers that their own assessor had told me would most likely sell very well. I was even more surprised how much time the photographers devoted to cataloging and photographing items that their assessor had told me wouldn't sell well at all (DVD's, etc). Auction is scheduled: Seeing not much of any advertising/posts or on SIC social media promoting any of their online auctions, I took initiative on my own and advertised our upcoming auction on collector group sites, etc. The more time passed, the more I was regretting my decision to go with this company. However, the contract lists open ended cancellation/admin fees so I felt we should just ride out the auction at this point and avoid losing more time and money. Day of Auction: At auction so many of our high value items remained at, or just slightly higher than the $2 minimum bid that with less than 30 minutes left, I quickly created an account and started bidding ON MY OWN ITEMS to avoid watching them sell for so cheap. Doing this I was actually able to get the majority of items into a decent bid range and I could move on to the next. One such item was a second away from selling low, I put in a bid for $14 and that in-turn kicked off a bidding frenzy. It eventually sold for $80 - the highest bid of our entire auction. Keep in mind, by doing this I not only made a better profit for myself but by default, it made a better profit for SIC/Relocators as well. In the end, I "won" bids on about 8 items. Again...THESE WERE MY OWN ITEMS! Post-Auction: Given the circumstances I nicely asked SIC if they could forgo their 40% cut on just the 8 or so items I "won". As a final insult, they actually said No to this request. Supposedly this decision came straight from the owner of the company. Their 40% cut on those few items amounted to just $52 dollars!! A small amount that could have gone a long way in making this entire disappointing ordeal a little more palatable for their client. Fortunately for most of us, an Estate sale such as this is an experience we hopefully only have to go through once in our lives, if we are lucky. Unfortunately, that makes our experience with SIC/Relocators a lesson learned not only the hard way but way too late for us. But not too late for others if I can help it. read more

Abusive tried to bid and had a problem. Woman I spoke to tonight 5 pm and 8 pm very abusive. East Setauket 11733 AUCTION. They should pay sisters in charge not a dime they abused clients. . Their client is the one that got taken. They put up their items and the Sisters In Charge took them to the bank.. You bid and you win and they don't even bother to notify you. $1.25 angel and them they abuse you. I bought a $700 to $800 order and got nothing and most of the nothing they broke.. Years and have recieved not a dime returned. I like the idea of bidding but should not take your money before you recieve items. I waited hours and hours and this I'm told is not abnormal. I arrived at a very big "estate sale" (that's what the called it). In commack. A divorced couple. Whom the wife was a crazy shopoholic. Waited on line got there an hour early. Started watching the 1st 20 people go in...n soon realized that not many people came out with much. Thought it was weird but I kept hopeful. I have been to alot of estate sales by sisters in charge. N they were even questionable. The sale from yesterday is still for 2 more days this weekend. I then enter the residence and start to look around (pics included) n was super excited. I bought $1000 with me to spend alot. But when I looked through most the house, everything was completely over priced. Especially for used stuff. I tried to buy about $300 worth the stuff on the bottom floor and the lady comes out with a # of $750. For used items. Items i can get brand new at Marshall's or home Goods for probably $500. I refused and left it there. And went up stairs. To the games n those were prices per game between $10 n $20 used. Come on....they r brand new at target for $20. They were expecting to get the price they paid for things. THIS WAS NOT AN ESTATE SALE!! They were not negotiable on anything. This was more of a TAG sale. Or set up like a store. I will no longer be attending their estate sales. I then questioned the lead person in charge why this was not an estate sale n more of a TAG sale that nothing was negotiable. Really $35 for a sheet set? That was at least 15 years old from the dingy bag it was in.(out ofur mind). She got nasty (the blonde) and even a. Neighbor new the homeowner that was standing there and said that everything was over priced. I saw a box of bully sticks for $189. Seriously. That's crazy. I'm pretty sure people that were looking around and not many people were buying things. This lady could of had made so much money off me. N she refused to budge on any thing. I hope the home owner realized they used the wrong company to help them make money. And people were leaving left n right empty handed. I refuse to attend anymore of their sales.. bc they are untruthful. And scammers. I also have a picture of a saw in the garage and that is no where to be found.....they posted pics of things and they were not there the items. Please be aware of this company of u plan to attend these things that they are trying to portray to the public. Or if ur planning on using them for your own sales of items in ur home. A sale was posted about two weeks ago, it was in Melville for today 6/2/23 from 10am to 8pm. At first, I thought it was weird that the sale was ongoing till 8pm, so I checked their website, it stated that the sale was until 6pm. Although, there was a discrepancy with the time, it was only 3pm, so I decided to make the 30min drive after work. I got there, and some rude man just said "it was a mistake " and they are closed! Wow! And that's not a good wow! It's BAD, very BAD. I went to a sale of theirs and I had my children with me, who are very well behaved and would never touch a thing. There was a man, probably in his 60's, going by the name Eddie, who was screaming at some other guy working with him and every other word was a curse! My kids are not sheltered and have heard curses before but my one daughter was very uncomfortable with his mouth. I can't see how an owner of a company would allow such a person (used lightly) to work for them. Not a good way to put your best foot forward. The sale was good, quality items but I wasn't going to stay after my daughter said she was uncomfortable and I saw the looks on their faces! We will be relocating soon, to a larger home, and I would have used them for my tag sale but now...not a chance! I will call Diamond Tag Sales instead! I came to their estate in North Babylon 3 months ago. I was one of the first people get in when they open. Most of the good items or worth-to-buy already marked sold by their "insider" people. The rest items were over-price by double or triple. They acted like they were doing us (the buyers) a favorite, paying attention on all my movements. I am not criticizing "Sisters in Charge" in particular. Maybe it is nature business "estate" attitude, having dealing so many low ball people, but everyone is different. Bottom line: do not trust this company, especially if you are considering hiring an estate sales company. They are cutthroat, and do not take responsibility for their mistakes. Do not let people with these kind of morals (or lack thereof) into your home, do not let them deal with your and your family's possessions. Overview: They were in charge of an estate sale - of the house I had purchased, and would soon be moving into. The garden gate to the property had a very special, ornate iron bird that was a part of the door. It was a very symbolic thing for us, as we bought our first house, with our little daughter. You can imagine our shock when we found out that not only had SIC removed the "not for sale" sign from it, but had actually used a screw driver to remove it and sell it to the highest bidder. That was not the worst part. The worst part was that the owner called me in the week after this happened, multiple times, and (of her own bizarre volition) swore on her granddaughter's life that she would return this important item to me. I do not know why she brought her granddaughter into it. She got very emotional and said she was in tears when she heard "that this had happened" (implying she had not known of it being sold!) Nonetheless, despite that odd, morbid, and unprompted oath, I have never heard from them since. Additionally, they sold a number of items of the previous owner's that he had expressly told them was off limits. They left the place a mess (the grounds were strewn with trash and cigarette butts from buyers, that SIC did not clean up. I am a very forgiving person. I have waited three whole months before posting this review, in the hope that they would do the right thing, and at least contact me again to let me know how their (probably made up) efforts to regain this item are going. Contacted Sisters in charge to set up a tag sale for the furnishings in our 9 room Colonial. Initially Denise reviewed our home using Zillow to review the sales pictures and contents of each room. She said there was not enough "stuff" but was willing to do a "moving sale" and set up a tentative date. The sale date was to be in the 1st week of October and was confirmed. We wanted something in writing because our closing was scheduled for October 17th. After several phone calls Denise reneged and wanted to change the date to the week of closing. Impossible for us timewise. Literally she made it very difficult for us. We took her word and promises and she failed to keep her word Denise can be abrasive in speaking to customers and as a result we didn't trust her We had to fire her and cancel the credit card payment. read more

I am a serious tag/estate sale shopper. I have never been to a tag sale like the one Sisters in Charge runs. They are rude and demeaning. I was there when the elderly owner of the property was sitting by as they made fun of her collection of life-long treasures. They may not have been the "sisters" taste, but you don't do that to an obviously sad woman who is watching people paw all over her things. They also demand you take the item immediately... even items like a large armoire. They say they cannot wait for a truck to be arranged and they don't offer a delivery service. You would think as so-called "movers" that delivery would be part of the perks. I am not asking for free delivery, obviously we would have to pay. But they are so nasty you cannot even get to the point of asking them. Do not use this company for your tag sale. They disrespect your things and are offensive to shoppers. read more

BAMBOOZLED! Stay away from any of their Estate Sales. They start with incredible high prices. I went today to their estate sale in Bellport. I am saying this with shame: they conned me with a straight face and with an attitude that made me think I was robbing them of their livelihood. I guess it's part of the whole spiel they developed over years. I bought 19 glases; but initially I chose 21 glasses: 12 glasses of wine and 9 glasses of champagne. The champagne glasses were priced at $2 each. The wine glasses were priced at $5 each. The older lady came and started talking fast while the second sister was set to prove me that each glass was worth $30. That was a lie too. The wine glasses were IItalia Essence, you can find them 2 for $32.99 brand new. She said she'll give them to me for $100. Now here is the simple numbers I failed to add (like a moron) as per THEIR SET PRICES: 12 wine glasses X $5 is $60; 9 champagne glasses X $2 is $18. WITHOUT a deal, the whole thing was supposed to be $78. We settled for $80 and the younger woman tried to get $5 more which I refused to give her. This is when she TOOK AWAY 2 glasses and said NOT THESE. Rude! She proceeded to pack the rest. SO: I paid $80 for 12 glasses of wine and 7 glasses of champagne, $6 MORE folks than the prices they were listing and three items LESS. WTF??!! I know $6 or 3 champagne glasses seems like not a big deal, but it's the principle that tells me that these women are completely dishonest and you shouldn't do business with them, period. Or if you do, I hope you read this. At least you'll know whom are you dealing with and won't let them bamboozle you too. read more

For the record, unlike other reviewers, I did not end up using their estate sale services, they told me there wasn't enough stuff of value, and seeing these reviews made me glad I didn't anyway. They did, however, throw out a lot of things that I explicitly told them not to throw out. They apologized, but I still thought it was fair to ask them to shave SOMETHING off the top of their quoted price. But damn, they really fought tooth and nail on that. read more

They came in, organized an endless stream of belongings, priced the larger items at reasonable amounts, and negotiated on our behalf with all the buyers. Having never held a tag sale before, I was hesitant to say the least. But it was relatively easy thanks in large part to Denise and her very competent staff. They came early, arranged items to display them in the best light, set prices while consulting me, and took care of the rest. I personally observed the staff interact with the customers and it was always respectful and professional. At the close of the sale the staff cleaned up, tallied the days proceeds, and even assisted in moving very large pieces of furniture out of my home for the purchasers. I would definitely recommend Sisters in Charge if you are contemplating a tag sale. read more

From start to finish Denise and her staff were very professional, helpful, caring and compassionate.When Denise came for the free estimate and we walked through the house she explained how they would display everything on the day of sale and how the items would be priced. We totally disagree with this review. We were at the house all day during the Estate Sale and observed Sisters In Charge set up, had a staff member in each area of the house to help customers with questions and sales. Through Sisters In Charge Website and advertising there was a steady stream of people and many items were sold which pleased the homeowner. After the sale was completed another staff member of the clean out division came to the house, evaluated the remaining contents to schedule a time and date for the final clean out of the premises which is an additional service provided to the homeowner. The homeowner was satisfied with the outcome of the sale. We would recommend this company to anyone looking for this service. read more

They are way overpriced. An estate sale is just a few steps above a garage sale. They should not be charging retail prices. I told the lady that I am a reseller and she wouldn't even budge. I've been to a number of their sales run by Sisters in Charge and they often charged high prices. Today, I drove 30 minutes to an estate sale North Babylon that they ran. Before I could get in, I stood on line for 15 minutes and had the privilege of listening to an authoritarian woman barking orders to the crowd. Once I got inside and looked at the merchandise for 10 minutes, I left empty handed because of the most ridiculous over pricing I've ever seen. read more

They are overpriced, don't understand their merchandise (I agree with other reviews who say they think everything they're selling is a valuable artifact) and if you want to use your credit card, they tell you they'll have to charge you sales tax if you use it to encourage you to pay cash. Sounds like sales tax evasion and who knows if they report the correct sales totals to the clients if everything is a cash deal. The worst estate liquidation company out there, they just recently conducted a estate sale for a relative of mine. There commission rate is 40% which I have learned is the highest in the business! Denise and her team did an excellent job at our moving sale. From start to finish, they were organized, courteous and honest. Our goal was to liquidate as much as possible and at the end of the day our goal was accomplished. I highly recommend them and would use them again, should the need arise. Every sisters in charge estate sale that I've been to has been the same experience. Overpriced items and bitchy sales women. There is one woman in particular, she is tall and skinny with very curly blonde hair, she is just extremely rude and this everything she is selling is gold. When she was ringing my items up and gave me a price of $30 and I said "how about $20?" she very rudely said "no, don't you see how much these items are marked?" ummmm isn't the whole idea of these things to negotiate? Such a rude woman. I also overheard her being very nasty to a man trying to negotiate a different item as well. They are also very unorganized and didn't let anyone in until 10 minutes after the start time. I love going to estate sales but I will stay far away from the Sisters in Charge sales. read more

These "Sisters" are the worst! I would give them no stars, but The site won't let me. I was at the sale they did in Massapequa today, and trust me, I will never go to one of their sales again. Not only did they grossly overprice everything, but I saw the discrimination that a former reviewer had mentioned. My boyfriend went to pay for 2 small items (both of which would've certainly ended up in a trash pile) and when he offered to pay $2.00 less than what the impolite, blond woman asked for, and she rudely answered "No" and walked away. She could've said, "I'm sorry, I need a little more money for those items", but instead she needed so show him just who was in charge. If you need help selling the contents of a house, please consider hiring someone else for the job. These people will only take advantage of you. read more

Went to three estate sales set up by these ladies over the weekend, and was sorely disappointed. Their prices are high, at times to the point of being ridiculous. I go to yardsales frequently, and I myself was treated politely, but many others were treated so rudely. I particularly remember a Spanish man to bring down the price of an item by five dollars. The lady treated him like he was dirt. I felt so sorry for him, I came close to buying the item for him. Bluntly - not nice people and items are overpriced. read more

I have been to numerous Tag/Estate sales hosted by SIC. I find the staff to be friendly, the prices to be fair [to both buyer and consigner] and the deals to be awesome! Try them next time your looking for some stuff. read more
