A great little park. NO FOOD FACILITIES. Great for short walks, especially around the frog pond. Excellent for beach glass, especially just along from the last beach past the kids park along the path that crosses everyone's front garden, but it is legal to walk there. Dingle tower is a nice view point and worth the climb. Great for an hour or two but your kids will be screaming for food and drink so pack EVERYTHING you need, as no food or drink in walking distance.
Great in winter when even less people use it. During the week is the best time. Weekends can build up with various cosmopolitan families packing into the BBQ spots, or totally trashing the lawn by the children's park. Wedding parties also often come down for a photo session. It can get crowded and the car parks fill up fast in the summer, and are largely inaccessible in the winter, even to residents!
There is an art installation there that I found interesting, finding all 24 sundials with the kids was fun, you need the app downloaded to see some simple graphics, although the voice was very pretentious and there were better examples and subjects to select from, but that's personal opinion. It definitely added to the park, although some sundials are showing damage and wear.
A small slip allows boat launches, and I myself kayaked from there to McNabs, which was a great adventure, stopping off at Point Pleasant Park. The launch spot is popular in the summer. Lots of fishermen use the sea wall to catch a few mackerel.
Overall, pretty good when quiet and you have packed a picnic or just fed the kids and want a walk by the water, and a place for them to play right next to a little beach. read more
