I knew for awhile that I wanted to get married in Arizona, and I had been following Sip & Twirl for years on social media. They were also recommended to me by the venue we got. I am so thankful that when I sent that email a year ago, Kate responded and told me she was available! She was so sweet and was so comforting for me in the wedding planning process, especially since we were having a destination wedding. She was also very professional and organized. The month before my wedding, we had weekly meetings over the phone to go over what was completed and what would need to be completed by our next meeting. A nice thing she did as well was allow me to ship things that we needed for the wedding (i.e. guest book, picture frames, unity candles, etc.) to their place of business since I was flying out for the wedding. She also provided not just my husband and I, but everyone in our wedding party (including our parents) with a timeline so they would know where to go at what time. I have been waiting over a year to write this review, and now that our wedding has come and gone, I finally have a start-to-finish review of the amazing ladies at S+T! First, let me start by saying that every single person who worked with us was awesome. My husband (eekk!) and I tend to make decisions based off the "joojoo" a person gives, and when we met with Laurie the very first time, we both left saying she had some dang good joojoo. We had other planner meetings lined up, but promptly canceled them right after that meeting to work with S+T. Now here's where the magic comes in. We had the awesome pleasure of working mainly with Kate throughout our 14 month planning process, and I've never met anyone as kind, patient, hard-working, and all-around amazing in my life. She listened to our crazy (mostly my crazy) ideas and turned them into a dream come true wedding day for us. On top of that, we stayed pretty darn close to our original budget, which is hard enough to do with weddings, but not only that - we hardly had to compromise on any of our wishlist! The actual day of the wedding was the most amazing part - Kate worked her butt off (starting at 8am and ending at around 2am) to make sure our private estate wedding was perfection. Sip and Twirl was the best decision we made in planning our wedding! I simply do not know where to start... I worked with S&T for about a year (I chose the 30 days-out package and the Design Consultation add-on) and the quality and attention that I received throughout that entire year was standalone. Retrospectively, I could never have put a price on the level of service we received. Laurie, Kate and Emily served as my constant therapist and friend (depending on what day it was and how stressed out I was :) and for that I am forever grateful. Truthfully, my groom should be the one writing this as S&T helped me more that we could've ever imagined and were so nice to have just a phone call (or vox!) away! They helped me pick out vendors, put together my welcome bags which ended up so cute!, and stored all of my decor items for months on end while planning so many more weddings! We loved every minute working with Kate! She made the stressful wedding planning easy and fun! She is a delight to work with! Kate also helped us tremendously with some last minute decisions on the chairs and chargers to be used at the tables. Our daughter had chosen a dark brown Napa Farm Table for the wedding party and their guests. There were to be round tables with off white tablecloths for the remaining guests. We needed the chairs to coordinate with both types of tables and for the different whites of the tablecloths and chargers to look good on both types of tables. Kate went as far as going to Event Rents, setting table settings up for us with different styles and colors of chairs chairs for our viewing; and set the table with the chargers she recommended, silverware, wine glasses! I had Laurie do my wedding in November of 2012. She was an absolute life savor. She is so organized and remembers things you forget you said, and sooo attentive. I felt like I was her world the days leading up to my wedding. She definitely puts the bride as top priority, which sets an anxious bride's mind at ease. My wedding day was supposed to be sunny and ok temperatures, and at 2pm it was BEAUTIFUL... fast forward 2.5 hours and 30 minutes before my ceremony started, and it was COLD and windy. All the tables and chairs were already set up outside for the reception, and the linens were blowing around. Laurie and the team at Sip and Twirl were able to move my entire reception indoors in a matter of 30-45 minutes, with no interruption to the cocktail hour. Laurie coordinated with the venue staff to get every heater they had on site outside for the ceremony, which made it a lot more bearable. I recently got married on 05/04/2013. I had planned my wedding for a little over a year and felt very "ahead of the game," and organized. I had picked out everything, lined up all of the vendors and was sure that I was prepared and ready to go. Then out of no where 30 days before the wedding chaos set in! I realized about five weeks out that I was not where I needed to be and that with work, it was extremely difficult to finish all of the final details. The last thirty days truly are what make the wedding or event what they are. I began research for a wedding planner. My fiancé was very much against the idea. He felt that all of our family members, grandparents and aunts would be perfect for the task of setting up and breaking down the wedding. Thank God I found Sip and Twirl. I contacted Laurie explaining that I needed some serious help! Who was going to handle the vendors day of, who was going to set up all of our favors and goodies, and decor, who was going to get us in line and ready for the rehearsal... who collects the gifts and sentimental artifacts at the end? Within minutes of emailing Laurie I got all the reassurance I needed. She responded and was so kind and very clear about how they could help me. She asked me to give her all information in regards to the wedding... so I slowly gathered my huge list and handed it all over to her. She was so sincere, professional and easy to talk with. Hiring Laurie & her team will be the best dollars spent of any vendor in your wedding budget. I interviewed 8 coordinators who came recommended to me. I ended up hiring the team who I found on my own through google and immediately after talking to Laurie, could sense a level of attentiveness that was unparalleled to the others. I was married 5 days ago so my thoughts right now are fresh from having gone through the wedding planning process. First, you learn that the true value of hiring a good planner is how much stress you can offload from an overwhelmingly stressful process. Second, though you hear hiring a good wedding coordinator will save you money, I can't stress how much the team's advice and vendor connections helped to optimize my budget. More importantly, I was saved from hours of researching for mediocre conclusions- a team with their rolodex and experience will always be savvier than a bride planning her first wedding. Some more points: Veteran Experience is Invaluable: Every detail that we could not have imagined planning for was covered. Just a sampling: - The Team made us consider what part of the property, what time to have the ceremony, and where and how many umbrellas given the position of the sun - Laurie brought a measuring tape the first time we ever met to ensure our Farm Tables, Ice Luge, Dance Floor, Desert Table would all be positioned in their perfect spots - We had a last minute issue where our Venue had to break up our Reception into 2 different areas. The Team updated every detail across 5 Vendor Parties to make sure they were on board with changes. They took care of even the SMALLEST of details we forgot about, such as, getting vendor meal orders and ensuring no food allergies across the board. - The Team scheduled reception speeches with food & beverage vendors so they wouldn't distract guests who we wanted to make sure were listening to the speeches - We unexpectedly fired a key vendor only weeks into the wedding. Laurie diffused the situation, allowed us to maintain calm, and did not fault us or allow this to get out of hand or cause more stress on an already stressful situation. We really think this is where her veteran status and professionalism really shined through for us. Vendor Rolodex and Selection: You hear that sometimes wedding coordinators will try to push their own agendas or vendors on the bride. Nothing could be further from the truth with Laurie and her team. They were an objective source of information (that saved me hours of more tortuous google searches) to let me know exactly what was out in the market, what their experience was like if they had worked with those vendors, and expressed opinions on what they thought was valuable spending money on vs. what was not (without ever directly or passively pushing any of their recommendations on me). They have Style!: If you look on the Sip and Twirl website, you see that the team has planned multiple types of weddings: Garden Settings, Estates, Airport Hangars, Museums, etc. Each are different (coming from San Francisco and Los Angeles, I was beginning to worry I could only find coordinators that planned the same wedding out of "Martha Stewart Weddings"). They are up to speed on the latest trends in addition to knowing when to keep things classic. I was so happy with the décor of my Ceremony, which centered around our logo of a big green STATION WAGON! Trusting that your team understands your stylistic vision is invaluable when you are a bride stuck with analysis paralysis from having to make so many decisions. Execution and Staying on Schedule: The Team understands what jobs need to be taken care of immediately, what you can fudge and get away with if you can't make a decision in time, and when to be stern and let you know that you need to get something done. Responsiveness / Reliability: At this point, I already know the review is too long. But I couldn't leave without mentioning how incredibly hard the team works on your behalf, how responsive they are to every detail and question, and how reliable they are. I could say my wedding day has been in my dreams for most of my life. So when I started planning mine in December, for a wedding in May, I still had no fears because I knew what I wanted. I knew it might be a bit more involved because it was a destination wedding in Phoenix. This team is absolutely amazing. My husband and I wanted a non-conventional wedding - one that's very casual with an open feel format, but still classy, and they immediately caught on to our inspiration. Our evening was an 'all-in-one' where the brief, but lovely ceremony was held in the same place as the reception. We had community tables supplemented by high and low cocktail tables, all with the purpose of making it feel like a great evening out on the town as opposed to a formal wedding event. Our wedding party sat on a combination of bar stools and cafe chairs, making the event almost feel like a cabaret. They loved the idea and helped us actualize our vision.
