She called Dr. Cristal's office to obtain a prescription for a urine test because she was scheduled to go for a routine blood test that day and wanted to also do the urine test at the same time. She spoke to the doctor directly. He asked why she wanted that test and she explained why. She also said maybe she should go to a Urologist. Dr. Cristal asked when her appointment was...she stated she didn't have one...she wanted to discuss this option with him. Dr. Cristal then told my mother to make an appointment with a Urologist and then have that doctor call him....and hung up on her! No prescription for a urine test, no recommendation for a Urologist, he didn't even ask her if there STILL was blood in her urine! He is located in Toms River...I am in northern New Jersey...but I will be meeting with him to discuss his treatment of my mother. In the meantime...if you are looking for a good doctor...avoid Dr. Ruben Cristal.

I have to agree with the previous post about this Dr. There seems to be no sense of urgency in the…read moreoffice at all and leaving messages with the person who answers the phone is useless. Either they don't get passed onto the Dr or he chooses to just ignore them. The Dr. also has a short fuse with his temper so bedside manner is not something I think he even cares about. Bottom line is there are many way better doctors out there I am happy I left when I did. Maybe he just has so many patients he just does not care about losing some but never in my life have I met a doctor with an attitude or such a terrible bedside manner as he has. they also need to find someone a little more responsible to answer the phone and take messages but my guess is they don't care about that either. Good luck Ruben, keep on practicing medicine like this and you'll have plenty of time to yourself to work on that bedside manner and return patients phones calls yourself.

She spends time to get to know you and when you leave there is a feeling of "someone cares" that is with you. Her office is usually full which I recommend to be a patient person because everyone gets the same great exam as you will. Currently she is not accepting new patients which I suspect is because she does not wish to cut her time away from the patients she already has. Her Staff is cordial and always knows who I am and very efficient. For new patients there is a NP that I have not met but if she works with Dr. Sahay you know she is a caring person with great skill.

Unlike her predecessor, she took the time to know me and the status of my current physical condition. She referred me to a surgeon who performed a procedure that had a positive life-altering impact on me. Be prepared to wait because she spends time with her patients...which is a good thing and rare these days. You don't get treated like cattle there. It is a low-budget operation though. Frequently the computers are running slow, but the exam rooms are kept neat and clean. I only have two complaints: 1. It's too hot in the waiting room 2. Some of the other patients arrive with very bad body odor and/or reeking of smoke Don't come here looking for pain pill prescriptions. They won't put up with your shit! They no longer take NEW NJ Family Care patients.
