The firm began negotiating and I paid them $10,000. My CT back taxes were resolved with an offer of compromise and I was told that a similar deal was about to be reached with the federal government. Then the pandemic hit. The process shut down. I remained in contact with the firm until, it seemed, I made my last payment. I haven't spoken to anyone at the firm in a year. All of my calls go straight to the voicemail of an associate I've never heard of. I phoned TAS an IRS sponsored tax assistance agency today and was told that no such offer of agreement exists.
