I try to be as fair and as honest as possible when reviewing a place and/or doing a survey. I…read moreshould have just skipped the survey for H&R block but they sent so many emails reminding me to do it so I did. I filled out the survey and there were questions like "Did the rep explain to you how the process works before begging?" "Would you come back next year?" Would you recommend to a friend?" My rep, Lawrence, was super friendly almost to the point where I assumed he was just straight out flirting and never really explained anything and just asked a series of questions and elaborated them to ask more personal questions based off the official ones H&R Block was asking. At one point he said "I'm sure you don't have kids because you seem smart". He never even asked, but no I don't have children. None of this really bothered me but when it was time for the survey I said I probably wouldn't come back because I only come here when I have more than a straight W-2 (who wants to pay $128 when there are so many free service). The next day I get a phone call from the branch manager at around 8 PM. I let it go to voicemail and call back as I wasn't sure who it was. When I realized it was H&R block I immediately called. A guy answers the phone (eventually he tells me it's Lawrence), I let him know I received a missed call and wasn't sure in what regards. He then almost starts to berate me for giving him a bad review. I informed him I answered the maybe 10 questions honestly based on what he did and did not do. I mist definitely will not return to this location ever (if any) as there are literally 3 locations within a few miles of me. I actually kept the voicemail because I'm curious as to why I never got a call back?? But at this point it doesn't matter.

My tax preparer was very unprofessional! First off she was always absent. Initially when I got my…read moretaxes done by her last year she was always there I was satisfied. This year was a different story. We put my taxes on hold because I wanted to get additional documentation to finish them. When I showed up the next day to finish them however she was not there. When I asked could someone else finish my taxes for me the front desk receptionist Michael told me NO. When I asked if I could get my papers back so I can get my taxes done elsewhere I was told NO once more. I was also told, that my papers are locked away in the file somewhere and only Katrina Harris had the key. When I asked if I could make an appointment with her, he told me she was sick and they had no idea when should be back in. So my making an appointment would not be useful. And he couldn't make that appointment for me. This was very frustrating for me. There's no reason why if one person is gone a client can't get her taxes finished by someone else. I also don't think it's right that H&R Block allows its employees to lock away clients information. If the client wants to come back and retrieve them, like I did, how would that be possible?! I came back a third and finally a fourth time at which time Katrina Harris was STILL absent. There is no reason why any client should have to come back that many times to get taxes done. Especially seeing that I came initially in January and didn't get my taxes finished until mid-February. Finally after the receptionist, this time a girl contacted Katrina by phone. Another staff employee helped with trying to find my tax information and after waiting 30 minutes my documents were found. This however was not the end of the story. Katrina Harris told me I would pay $90 for my taxes because I'm just getting my W-2s done. After dealing with another lady and Katrina being on the phone, she charge me $165. How was that the case when initially Katrina told me I would only pay $90?! I asked why this was the case no one had a response. I asked if I could speak to Kateina and was told no... I was livid. But quietly and calmly I just replied just finish my taxes so I can leave. While all of this was happening I overheard Katrina on the phone with the employee who was helping me. She was cursing and yelling and being very disrespectful. I was so shocked. I have never been so disrespected and humiliated in all my years of working with people in customer service. You would think as branch manager she would want to just make the client happy but instead she chose to do just the opposite. I had referred my mom and sister to H&R Block but after this incident I quickly told him never to deal with this company. I will never be working with that branch nor H&R Block again. Maybe a different location would've been better but this experience has not left a good mark on me. I will NEVER be coming back!
