Membership prices vary largely depending on age occupation and level of membership you want. My favourite hole on this course is the drop hole or 'the valley' which can take any sort of club depending on how you want to play it! This course has so many different challenges that make it so interesting and their website offers tips of how to play every hole so you can master this course. There are so many open tournaments that almost anyone can join even if your handicap isn't the best. If you love golf this course is well worth a crack as you can pay and play which for people who can't afford memberships is a god send.

We played 9 holes after a really nice lunch of ham egg and chips. The whole course is set up so they can 'loop' 9 holes around anywhere on the course depending on the groups ability. As we were all pretty novice, they set it all up really thoughtfully. The bar here is really cool too, unlike any golfing clubhouse bar I've been to. Lots of very jolly people of mixed ages talking about their day on the greens.

However, that can make it a little trickier to get to, and bear in mind any taxi rides if you are tempted by the decent value green fees. I can, however, comment on club house, bar and staff. They are all excellent. The driveway to this place is very grand. A snazzy electronic sign greets you on the way in. It's in incredible grounds with beautiful flower beds and amazingly well kept lawns. The Club House, (if you can call it that... it's more like a stately home) is castle-like inside; stone slabbed floors, wooden paneled walls and iron windows. There's a lovely terrace area with comfy garden chairs and huge parasols. Sipping Pimms and looking out on to the fairway was an ideal way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon. The staff looked very smart and were attentive. Bar prices were as you would expect - £4 for a pint of Magners or £4.50 a bottle. There was a local ale and lager available, and they did a good Guinness. Plenty of seating inside and out and rooms of various sizes tucked away that looked ideal for special occasions. Even the toilets were impressive. A beautiful place all round.

From the 12th hole, you get the most amazing view of the sea. You can see Beachy Head and I could just about make out the Ilse of White in the distance. The course itself has a good balance between difficult and easy. I'm a pretty awful player so a few of the holes were beyond me but when the views are this good its hard to get in a bad mood!

It is hilly and guarded by large sections of heather. There are no bunkers, but who needs them when the heather is more treacherous. Get into them and you have to take your medicine and just get out. This course is not for the faint hearted. Standing on the Tee you are faced with a long carry to the fairway. You need distance, accuracy and a lot of balls! Hikers and dogs are welcome. You will see many Golden Retrievers, Cocker Spaniels etc happily running around, some with their golfing owners and others with non golfers. We encountered a few groups of hikers on the course who were oblivious of the dangers of a golf ball. Once it leaves my club head the ball has a mind of it's own, determined to go where I did not intend it to! It is a great course worth playing again!

And it worked! I had a basic swing after a couple of lessons and was able to go to the range on my own to practice. The driving range here is excellent, it sweeps down a really steep hill so even if you don't hit the ball too hard it still looks good! I haven't played the course but it looks great and at £14 for 18 holes (midweek) it won't break the bank. They've got a really friendly little sandwich shop here too so worth popping in and feeding up before heading to the green!

Great little 9 hole (18 tees) pay & play golf course. This is my local course and I really like it…read morefor a quick twilight game after work during the week (cost £8.50). It is not normally busy but they do have a membership scheme in operation so it is worth phoning to make sure they do not have an event on. The course is challenging in places but should allow for a good score once familar with the layout. The first and last holes are the most difficult - the tree in the middle of the first fairway is particularly fun! It is not a long course but is quite hilly, providing a good work out (unless you opt for the buggy option). The clubhouse is a newly built Scandia-Hus building with a great little bar/coffee area. There is a nice terrace with fantastic views north. The pro/owner is a nice friendly chap too. My only criticism is that the bar is often closed by 8pm in the height of summer which is their loss really as I have a drink in the local pub instead.
