There are 2 courses, the Old Course and the West Course. The Old Course is the championship course and ranked #42 in England by Golf World
magazine and rightly so. It is hilly and guarded by large sections of heather. There are no bunkers, but who needs them when the heather is more treacherous. Get into them and you have to take your medicine and just get out.
This course is not for the faint hearted. Standing on the Tee you are faced with a long carry to the fairway. You need distance, accuracy and a lot of balls!
Hikers and dogs are welcome. You will see many Golden Retrievers, Cocker Spaniels etc happily running around, some with their golfing owners and others with non golfers. We encountered a few groups of hikers on the course who were oblivious of the dangers of a golf ball. Once it leaves my club head the ball has a mind of it's own, determined to go where I did not intend it to!
It is a great course worth playing again! read more
