The magazine selection is probably the most comprehensive I have ever seen, if you can't find it here, then you probably wont find it anywhere! Mercury News commits FRAUD! BEWARE!!!!…read more Sometime last year a guy who claimed to be in college came to my house to sell me the Mercury News. He told me it would help with his college cost. I told him I was not interested. Then he asked me for my number and told he he can just show his boss that he is actually trying to sell papers and at least he will be getting some credit. Lapse of judgment, I gave him my number. To make a long story short, our apt building started to receive the paper once a week. Then I get a renewal invoice from Mercury News. I called the Mercury Newspaper and found out a email was created, start a new subscription, an email that I NEVER CREATED!!!! Furious, I told the rep that this is fraud and identity theft. furthermore, I wanted a email confirmation from them stating they closed the account and what actions do they plan to take on this individual. They stated they will get back to me in 2 days. We will see.

The newsagent sells a vast range of newspapers and magazines, pretty much anything you can think of! They also sell a decent range of cards, soft drinks, gifts, confectionery, local maps (town plans), etc. The staff are friendly and efficient, so although Mercury News is always busy, there's never much of a queue. The Post Office is a fairly sizeable branch situated at the back of the shop. They do all the jobs you expect a post office to do, posting parcels, car tax, premium bonds, passports etc, and the staff are much like in the newsagent, good natured, but efficient. The combination of the two businesses makes Mercury News a very useful shop!

Supercigs is one of those really special little shops for really good value…read more Supercigs is just before you go down to the city arcade, red fronted shop with a white sign. Yhe shop is very narrow but very long too. Magazines are lined up and the left hand side taking over much of the entire wall, from floor to ceiling. These consist of magazines be it hair or gaming ones to fhm etc etc. They also have newspapers too as do all newsagents papershops. On the right hand sisde of the shop you find lots of sweets, these are usually bagged up and are great value for money. The shop also sells drinks to, these are also at a great price. Definately one not to miss. The till is at the back of the shop with friendly helpful staff, always seemingly happy. This is the only one in coventry unless the one in bell green, riley square still exsists which is a shame as this shop does a roaring trade due to their great prices.

The papershop/newsagents is not the biggest, but sells much of the same as the others. It is the only papershop in the area, which is around catheral lanes and hertford street. They sell the usual sweets and chocolates. Nespapers and a small sleection of magazines. You wont find half of them here so you would need to go to whsmith for more specialist ones. Although they have a small selection of magazines it doesnt really do them much harm. They also have quite friendly staff too which is always a good thing in smaller shops like this one. As there are many larger shops to compete against. So a smile or chat does go a long way! They also sell ice cream , which as you can imagine sells in the hundreds in the summer. The shop also sells scale model cars too. One window is full of them. A great place to have a papershop at the top of the town where there are no others. 4 stars verdict on this great little shop.

Overall great store, with lots of choice for magazines etc.
