Somehow every single time I am here most of the pumps have yellow bags over them and are out of fuel. I can understand if this happens once....maybe twice, but it is seemingly every time. This last time I drove around almost the whole pump station before I found one that was available and in good working order. I always like to pay inside as I do not trust the pay-at-the-pump credit card machine. I went in and the attendant was very pleasant. She did inform us though that they no longer are teaming up with King Soopers/Kroger to give discounts on fuel. She instead offered their new SmartPay Rewards card which is free. It allows users to save just 10 cents a gallon. I took the rewards card so I could look into the details when I got home. Once home, I downloaded their free app and started signing up so I could save the 10 cents. I have never had a free app or any app for that matter be so nosey! It was like trying to take out a mortgage with the information they wanted! Here is the information they want just so you can "save" a measly 10 cents: 1. Your driver's license number 2. Your bank routing number 3. Your bank account number 4. The last 4 digits of your SSN! Um....no thank you! "Saving" 10 cents a gallon literally is only saving me $1.40 when I fill up my 14-gallon tank. On the bright side, the store is clean and they always have a good variety of snacks. I loved seeing they had All Pink Starburst! If you are in a pinch and they actually have fuel here, it is right off of the highway, but if you can wait a few miles and go elsewhere, I would do that.

I went inside and the lady offered to help me! She filled up a hot bucket of soap and gave me a rag. It got most of the egg off. I was so surprised by her kindness. Thank you!

After my past experiences (see previous review) I'm beginning to think this place is purposely only allowing people to buy the fuel option that is literally the most expensive at $0.60 more a gallon. It cost me $4.45 a gallon tonight! It wasn't just at my pump. I checked all the pumps and they all had "out" stickers on the 85 and 87 grade fuel. This will be the last time I use a Loaf 'n Jug! I like going where my hard earned money goes the furthest and I don't like feeling like something shady is happening with it.

But if you need to go inside then by all means. It's not crazy busy that's one big reason I like this station. This is the only Shell station that's closest to Union and cute Belmar. The other station is now Conoco Phillips about 5 away. Both have a Starbucks pretty close to them. Although the other one also on Alameda is a few steps away from one. This wins over the other by way of the proximity to more food options since it's Union exit is just a straight drive to options! And the biggie? Sometimes it's cheaper by a few cents!

I had a terrible experience at this Shell station. I selected the auto-fill option so I could…read morequickly clean out my car while the gas was pumping. I only needed to fill from less than a quarter tank, but I didn't realize the pump had failed to automatically shut off. Gasoline overflowed and spilled all over the ground because the auto-stop mechanism didn't work. When I notified the employees that the pump had malfunctioned, their response was basically, oh well, sorry. As they didn't offer any reimbursement when I asked or take responsibility for the fuel I lost due to their faulty equipment. They simply put an "Out of Order" sign on the pump, sprinkled absorbent material over the spilled gas, and sent me on my way to absorb the cost myself. Gas and now a car wash to rid the gas smell is too costly for that! A business should stand behind its equipment and take responsibility when its pumps malfunction. Instead, I was left paying for gasoline that ended up on the ground because of their defective pump. Based on this experience, I would not recommend buying gas here. If the equipment isn't properly maintained and management won't take responsibility when it fails, I would take your business elsewhere.
